Well I reckon Christopher Lee, especially in his  younger day, would have made a great Sherlock Holmes!  He was such a good actor, with such wonderful poise, and a wonderful voice.

And he did  play Sherlock Holmes, more then once. He also played Mycroft Holmes in "The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes.

Ah, thank you for enlightening me on that! I didn't know that.

That's half the fun of having this obsession and being on this Forum. One is able to share any and all information they have on this one particular subject.

Yes, tha's right! And I must say that this is an excellent Forum in general; probably the best Forum I've ever been on! And I've been on quite a few!

Banshee and I created the forum, and we noticed what a great contributor Carol was, so we offered her the job as a mod. :)

Kudos to Banshee as well then. You all have done a wonderful job. Thank you for believing that if you built it, we would come.

Hey, we try.  But we wouldn't get much of anywhere without you all!  So lots of thanks to everyone! :hugz:

Back to Christopher Lee as Mycroft -- he was wonderful, I thought, though he looks even less like the canon Mycroft that Mark Gatiss does.  He sure had the supercilious attitude down pat!

I've had some unexpected things to deal with the past few days, so I've been rushing through reading and responding to forum posts.  But I mentally replayed this thread today, and realized that we'd somehow neglected to mention the contributions of aely, who was the only moderator before I was shanghaied into it asked to join the staff.  She hasn't been on the forum as much as usual lately, due to other commitments, but she has certainly helped to shape the forum as it is today.  Hopefully those other commitments will ease up soon, and we'll have our aely back!

Zachary Quinto. Having seen him as Spock, I'm sure he'd make a great Sherlock...

yes, I love Zachary as Spock and Sylar. Alan Rickman for a victorian Sherlock... I like it. But after seeing Benedict do this... I think he is uniquely capable to carry out the character, just like Martin with as Watson.

I think in this modern era of 'modern' Sherlocks - Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Downey Jr seem great but Mr Cumberbatch is the best! (in my humble opinion)

Isn't Hugh Laurie already doing Sherlock? And doing him extremely well.

Alan Rickman! Hahaha Yes! I could definitely see that, especially for a Victorian Sherlock.
