I see a lot of "Sherlock" fanart drawn in this style (especially Sherlolly), which is known as "Disneylock", apparently.

 

It might be because the artist actually is/was working for Disney. :D

I would agree with the Disney style. The first time I saw fan art in that style, I immediately thought of the cartoon version of 101 Dalmatians.

Robert does look pretty grizzled there, and he was only mid-40s.  He's 52 now.  In general I think he looks younger than his age, though not here.  But in this scene SH was supposed to have had a very bad night.

 

The upper picture was one of my favorite scenes from Hounds of Baskerville, aka 'the debut of 'Puppy Dog Eyes'.  Benedict breaks out the puppy dog eyes all over this episode.  Look at those big sad puppy eyes staring at John.

 

The way Robert is staring at *his* Watson . .sad, not so much.  Intense, yes.  I think RDJ is trying for 'sad' but it's not really working.

 

'Sherlock Holmes' came out in 2009 and 'Hounds' in 2012.  Seems very possible that Mofftiss copied this framing shot on purpose.

Really? You mean that's true, or is it just guessing? I've always had a fondness for the (traditional) Disney style. (These 3D characters, not so much ... )
