I came across this picture today, and something struck me about it.  I think the expression is familiar to me, probably written often on my own face.  I just know the feeling behind that look.

Recently, looking at the mystery shooting photos the one above belongs to, I asked myself if they intended to make some scenes with ghost Sherlock like they did with Mary.

I'm inclined to believe that the way they made it was the way they planned it, but it's an interesting thought.

Isn't that the photoshoot where they photographed John sitting in a coffee shop, not noticing that Sherlock is looking in the window at him?  Don't recall ever seeing one like the above, with Sherlock inside -- but then it's been a while, pre-S3.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, I see a connection.  Looking at the other photos in the set, the theme seems mostly to do with Sherlock's separation from John, which is how season 3 begins.

I can't put my finger on it, but there's something I like about this promo picture.  Even though it's clearly a pose, it still seems natural and candid to me somehow.

Actually I meant this photos aren't made at any recognizable set of the show. There is no filmed scene that would have a connection to these pics.

 

And it was a massive shooting, because there are even behind the scenes pictures of it.
