When Sherlock walks out the room & says Sorry about dinner. Is he doing more than taunt her? He's sending the message @ the time that he could care less if she dies.

What do you all think? Was there more to that statement than meets the eye?

Also why rescue her after she betrays him by seeking that assistance of his true arch enemy?

Maybe because in finding out he really was her heart, did he find that endearing? Worth risking his life to save her?

Maybe he began craving her morsels?

Good question! Like so much of this episode, I'm pretty confused about what's actually going on. I think it's a taunt, yeh. I think at that moment he wanted to crush her. But why he decides to rescue her later is puzzling. Maybe he admires her cleverness, and therefore thinks she deserves a chance to live?

Also, I think Sherlock sometimes sees himself as rather chivalrous (except when he isn't!) So maybe he just saw a damsel in distress and decided to rescue her. Especially since he was, sort of, the one who put her in that position.

I agree with a lot... Except she fully put herself in that situation. She thought she could beat Sherlock. She did play him like a fiddle. She didn't know who see was playing with & lost the game in a devastating way.

Maybe he wanted to torment her till the very last minute. Just so she could see what he really could do. Like take down an entire Turkish army camp?

I'm sure Jess meant a Pakistan army :)

I thought they were terrorists? :D

I don't think he took them down, he just freed Irene and scarpered outta there. If there'd been a lot of deaths I think Mycroft would've known something had gone down. Of course, with Mycroft, it's possible he DID know Irene was alive and was just, for some obscure reason, lying to John......

According to Mycroft, "She was captured by a terrorist cell in Karachi [a city in Pakistan] two months ago and beheaded."  (And as we all know, Mycroft can be relied on to tell the absolute truth at all times.)

Even if Sherlock had to take some of the terrorists out....there are all kind of black-ops activities going on to take these cells out so Mycroft might just put it down to something like that and not his brother affecting a rescue mission. But Mycroft did seem to at least have a hint that Sherlock's feelings for Irene may have been deeper then his anger at her.

Yeah I agree. Mycroft seems to be more aware of his brothers heart more so than John. He's so callused that he can detect any emotion or action that's just slightly outside of the realm of ice.

Ice man.. Always thought that term interesting to describe someone who is emotionless. After all... Apply enough heat & ice melts.

Ok but back to the point... "Sorry about dinner." There's a ton of meaning behind those 3 words. I'm just having a hard time transposing the thoughts from my brain to this post.

He truly is having the last word like John said. Not just then, but maybe he's like.. Never gonna get it, never gonna get it ( like that song by Envogue). Employing that he' never going to have "dinner" with her now, or no dinner because she'll be dead.

By the way when that man went over & whispered in her ear " it's because I took your pulse " Whooooo, my pulse picked up a bit & I could feel my pupils dilate.

So when he goes to rescue her. Is he simply late for dinner or did he just get hungry?

Makes sense, he's known him longer and before he became the way he is now.

John does often seem to be unaware when Sherlock has feelings, doesn't he? I'm hoping that's intentional and it's something they're planning to play with in the future.

Ooooooh, nice observation. I'd like to see some heat applied to Mycroft.

I have no idea but I love the way you put that! :D

Yeah. I kind of was feeling myself when I put the question that way too. I can be witty/slightly funny sometimes.

Now about Mycroft my brain didn't even go to the thought of a softer side of him, but I do wonder if that assistant of his is his secret goldfish & if they often "dine" together.

You mean Anthea?

No.

Mark has said he thinks Mycroft is gay...I actually suspected him and the equerry, Harry.

Mycroft and "Anthea"? No way. Actually, I think Anthea being so attractive serves a similar comic purpose as the thing with Mr Rumbold's hot secretaries in "Are You Being Served?" - Mycroft has her around all the time and is probably the only person who is totally oblivious of her charms.

I have no idea what or whom Mycroft might find attractive, and I have also no desire to find out.

I don't think Sherlock actually has feelings for her. He was fascinated with her as a test subject since she succeeded in some mind games with him. I also don't see it right for the show to take a turn in which he has actual "feelings" for her when there is Molly (who is the female equivalent of John, for whom he does have feelings).

I always wondered what he told John he was up to when he took that quick trip overseas?

So in this version. He literally risks his life for her. & throughout SIB there is obvious sexual tension between them. Also in previous versions there seems to be that same kind of passion. Even in the American version Irene Adler is that 1 Woman. Men have said it over and over they just know when they've found the one. & I'm sorry, I thinks it's insulting to John's character to say he's like Molly. He is nobody's doormat.

Also the writer's have said that they only meant for Molly to be a one time character, it's only because the fans took to her so well, that they continue to keep her on.

The truth is I want Sherlock to be happy. It doesn't seem that her type of personality would make him happy. She would have to become alot more intising, confident, playful & risky.

Also she needs advice when she dresses up. She always looks so cheap. Especially putting all those gigantic bows in her hair. She just always looks a hot mess! Even when she's really dressed up, she always does something that makes her entire look fall apart.

I definitely see what you are saying. I guess I just don't want Sherlock to end up with anyone (mine :P ) and Molly's crush has to be resolved in some way. Or maybe it doesn't, who knows - it can be done without her finding a romantic partner but simply reaching a new level of self-improvement. Although I have friends who argue that Molly is too good for Sherlock, since he is a bastard. I am like, yes the last part is true. But he is a sexy bastard. B)

Also I was not saying Molly and John are equivalent: I was saying that he has an appreciation for Molly like he does for John, IMHO. Maybe not the same strength but the same type of appreciation. A human one, not a "I want to play games with him/her" type.

I can totally see where she is too "good" for Sherlock. Like Sandy in Grease. Molly would have to become much more bad & mischievous, because right now... Yeah she'd do just fine with normal. I continue to post this... Molly & Lestrade. That's what I'd like to see.

I have never seen Grease. And that's not really in Molly's character.

Also, in which episode did Sherlock save The Woman? I know I heard that it happened but I don't think I've seen a scene with it... have I missed something?

Hay he does have her around all the time. & the response that he gives Sherlock, after he says sex doesn't alarm him, " how would you know?". Implies Mycroft isn't a virgin... Also when Sherlock calls Mycroft from wedding reception & hears Mycroft panting... He says either I caught you in a compromising position..., without any level of surprise, as if his brother may have done that before while in the act.

Wow! Sherlock really is his pressure point. He does always answer his phone whenever Sherlock calls. But I never thought he would answer during any situation. Hmmm. Interesting.

Uhhh Elementary. Yeah you missed something! Maybe you thought the show was over & turned the channel. In SIB, soon after John hands Sherlock Irene's Burned picture phone. The last text Irene sent him pops up on the screen:

Goodbye Mr. Holmes.

Then the screen goes black for a few seconds & opens back up on closeup of Irene's face. Her head is covered, with a black scarf. Militant man wants her phone she is sending Sherlock that last text... Then you hear that orgasmic moan of hers when Sherlock receives one of her text.

Camera pans to the bright beautiful eyes of the man with with the machete held to chop her head off & he ( Sherlock) says.. When I say run... Run! The machete is swung away from Irene. Then it cuts to Sherlock looking out his Baker St. window. He tosses Irene's phone in his hand. He smiles & says the woman.. Then he looks serious & says again in a more softer yet intense tone.. " THE Woman" then puts her phone away in side table drawer. Sentiment!

You better put that episode in and watch it to the end!!!:o It is simply delicious. It's like we all get to have a little dinner.

Oh, I love her clothes! It always makes her unique and very normal at the same time. She would lose a lot of her charm if she were dressed like any other modern girl :)

Exactly. So if she's gonna keep that charm, then she might as well kiss Sherlock goodbye! He is so put together.

Okay. & about dinner... Per the pool scene... "Someone changed his mind." Makes me wonder if The Woman had been following the adventures of Sherlock long before the Buckingham palace scene? Hmmm.
