You really like this scene? It's horrible. Poor John. This is the reason why I hate Magnussen so much. I can't stand watching it. Have to close me eyes everytime I see it...

Exactly! Very good acting on Lars MickKelson's part. I would rewind it over & over, because that was so diabolical. Lars' face, his bent over posture. The shadow of him cupping his hand and slightly bouncing it as he says in a near whisper... " Let me - Flick your face. Whoooo! Shivers.

Good acting, yes. But that's nothing new in this show. For me this scene is repulsive. Or rather Magnussen is.

Okay, I'll put in a few favs... list is so long though, and these are in no particular order of favdom....

1.  HOB - the whole manic business of looking for hidden cigarettes and that funny little frustrated noise he makes right before John mimes "tea" to Mrs. Hudson.

2.  TSOT - The whole best man speech.  Enough said.

3.  ASIB - the "punch me in the face" sequence.  Love how Sherlock doesn't really fight back.  Nor does he fight back in TEH.  He just takes his punches.

4.  TEH - the fight sequence where John lets Sherlock have it

5.  HLV - the "you have a girlfriend" sequence and the kissing Janine because John's reaction is so hilariously priceless.  Cracks me up every time.

7.  TEH - lovely, normal scene where he is not filtering and is having a real conversation with Molly and actually listening to her, even congratulating her before he gives her such a sweet kiss on the cheek.    And still I'm screaming, "turn your head, Molly, and kiss him on the lips you fool!" Which brings me to...

8.  TEH - the Molly/Sherlock whopper kiss from Anderson's fictional account of how Sherlock survived the fall.  Enough said about that kiss.  Played backwards it's even better.  Holy mackerel.

9.  HLV - Sherlock confronting Mary at Leinster Gardens and then the followup at Baker Street where he collapses.

10.  HLV - the whole mind palace sequence.

11.  HLV - Christmas with the parents.  Love the parents.

12.  TEH - the intro of the parents.  Love when mum gently touches his cheek and he quickly shuts the door on her.  Can't let John see that!!!

13.  TRF - so much to say in that one, where to begin.

      a.  The whole Moriarty "dance" sequence where he's getting the crown jewels while the police are going crazy above ground.

      b.  Moriarty's march into the courtroom juxtaposed with Sherlock/John's cab ride to the court and that "Go down to the devil" background music

      c.  Moriarty's tea with Sherlock and how Sherlock plays the perfect host.

      d.  The "I don't count" scene and the follow up "You do count."

      e.  The whole rooftop scene with Moriarty.  I think we get to see more insight into Sherlock there than perhaps anywhere.

If I don't stop writing, I will be late for work.  More later...

And to continue and just go to work later....

In ASIB

1.  The Buckingham Palace sheet sequence.  Way too funny.  REALLY want to see the outtakes on that one!!!  I know there's one take where BC fell forward and was completely unwrapped!!!

2.  Irene's naked scene and how the boys react.  Too funny.

3.  Irene drugging Sherlock and then taking him to task with a riding crop.

4.  "I would have you right here on this desk until you begged for mercy twice."  Please!  I want to know what she would have done to get that response from him!!!  He protests that he never begs for mercy but I think she could get him to.  LOL

5.  "The Iceman and the virgin"

6.  SHERLOCKED.

7.  "Because I took your pulse."

8.  "Step aside, Junior."

9.  "There's the Knighthood in the bag."

10.  "Oh Lestrade, we've had a break-in" - funny sequence.

11.  Anytime the orgasmic text alert goes off and he eventually hides behind the newspaper to avoid John about it.

12.  Saving Irene.  I turned it off the first time round when I thought she got her head cut off.  it was only two weeks later when I read something that made me have to go back and watch beyond that to hear know that it wasn't the end when it went to black.

That whole thing is just classic, classic, classic.

Some more....

TSoT -- that little tete a tete between Sherlock and Mrs. Hudson. "BISCUITS!!"

TEH - the deduction game. One of my favorite bits in all 3 seasons.

Any time Sherlock is bored.

ASiB - apologizing to Molly.

TBB - John & Sherlock bumping into each other in the street, and John's one step ahead of Sherlock (much to his chagrin!)

TGG - Sherlock vaulting the railing, leaving John to struggle over it behind him.....

Oh, there's so many, but that'll do for now.....

Oh, yes, the "biscuits!" thing is hilarious.

ASIP - The end where John doesn't quite want to admit he was the shooter but Sherlock doesn't let him off the hook and they come to a new understanding about what each is made of.

TBB - How dense SH is that he books himself on John's date and doesn't understand that John "Is trying to get off with Sarah."  Right over his head.

TGG - That look sudden "OH!" he does when he figures out something like he did with the painting, like he does in ASIP and like he does in other places, figuring out where the tube car was in TEH..  He does it less later on... but still love all those shock moments of revelation.

TSOT - when he looks at John's empty chair.  Sentiment.  Then walks back to his room to get dressed for the wedding with "Into battle."

Well, fortunately, we're supposed to get a DSL internet connection sometime soon (was supposed to be tomorrow, but they discovered they're already at capacity in our neighborhood, so they need to add more equipment).  Anyhow, whee!!!  :D

perhaps it would be easier to have the shorter list of what we don't like, because clearly we could talk the episodes to death of what we do like!  Seriously, they just get more and more brilliant.  How in the world will they keep this up and up the game of it???

I know that's why I like it! Can I like what I like please? :D

What are your favorite scenes? Hmmmmm.

Well sfmpco. I started this topic, so that we could have an unlimited platform to talk about what we like about the show. No need for speculation on this thread. Or is there? :sherlock:

I love that sentimental scene too in SO3. "Off to battle"... Mrs Hudson deserved that whole " Biscuits! " scene, & his brother so mean with " Remember Redbeard?" & when Janine asks "is there a vacancy" & Sherlock does a quick glance John's way. How they tie in the whole feeling of Sherlock knowing his friendship with John will change in the amount of time spent together - will have to let him go a bit. It seemed to be a bit unsettling, like I was literally walking in Sherlock's shoes.

No, you can't! (just kidding) :D

My favourite scenes? There are too many, too many, TOO MANY of them :D I'll make my list later. Have to think about it a bit :)

John at Sherlock's grave:

". But, please, there's just one more thing, one more thing, one more miracle, Sherlock, for me. Don't be... dead. Would you do that just for me? Just stop it. Stop this. "

Brilliant !

There was that scene in SIP, when John says " so you're unattached, just like me" then he licks his lips... Ha haaaaaa ha haaa. Then Sherlock thinks he's hitting on him. John has been labeled gay by 3 others by this point. If both Sherlock & Mycroft think you may be gay... John was putting out some kind of vibe. Love it! :D

Okay I'm going to be very honest: I have a thing about characters being psychologically tormented. So I kinda ate up this bit like chocolate ice cream.  :evilinside:

ASiP - "Oh, God, yes."

TBB - "While I'm trying to get off with Sarah! -- (to Sarah) Heeeeeeeeeyyyyy... ready?" Because that big neon *AWKWARD* sign always pops up in my mind.

TGG - John being forced to say gottle o'geer and Sherlock getting cross

ASiB - "John, punch me in the face."

THoB - Before Henry Knight confronts the H.O.U.N.D., when he lapses into a full-scale psychological meltdown.

TRF - "I know you're for real. Because nobody can pretend to be such an annoying dick all the time." & the whole running-about-London-hand-cuffed-to-each-other thing

TEH - John trying to strangle Sherlock in that restaurant. And the multiple other times Sherlock's gets maimed by John.

TSoT - John hugging Sherlock and Sherlock not understanding

HLV - The asylum scene with a true psycho!Moriarty. And the Moriarty death metal scream.

Ok, my favourite scenes, starting with ASiP (it's gonna be a very long list):

- the press conference (wrong! wrong! wrong!)

- we'll start with the riding crop and black, two sugars, please

John meeting Sherlock in the lab (Afghanistan or Iraq?)

- the boys at Baker Street for the first time

- seen a lot of injuries then. Violent deaths...

- the game, Mrs Hudson, is on!

- the phone deduction

- what is it like in your funny little brains? It must be so boring.

Sherlock's "Oh!" when he realizes that the suitcase must be pink

- John meeting Mycroft in the warehouse

- the three-patch problem scene

- And I said dangerous and here you are!

- the chase

- the drug bust scene

- Sherlock and the cabbie in the classroom

- when Sherlock realizes that it was John who shot the cabbie (I'm in shock! Look, I've got a blanket!)

- the "this is my brother Mycroft" scene

Oh my, I have so many favorite scenes... One fairly recent one is pretty much summed up with these screenshots:

Sherlock_S03E02_1080p_kissthemgoodbye_ne

Sherlock_S03E02_1080p_kissthemgoodbye_ne

Sherlock_S03E02_1080p_kissthemgoodbye_ne

That scene pretty much ensured that no matter where they take her character, I could never hate Mary. She is so F***ing sweet there. And her half-crying "hey, what about you?", to Sherlock, is only inferior to how she says "come on husband, let's go", shortly afterwards. I can't help myself. Just for this scene, I must and always will have a soft spot for Mary. She's just so... lovable.
