Ben will get muscles for Dr. Strange!  Which will be interesting because he'll probably still have some of that for Sherlock filming in spring 2016.  He supposedly went up 4 suit sizes for the muscles he gained as Khan, and you can tell a difference in TEH.  And he still had those muscles in Little Favour.

Yes I do!

Well, he'll get some grey hair as Dr. Strange, so that should be an interesting look!

He is going to have to gain a LOT of muscle to pull this off; the man is waaaaay too skinny for my taste right now.

Benedict reminds me a little of my brother for build: light-medium to medium build.  So with the trainer he has, I expect even with more muscles he might need some help from the costume to be muscular enough for Dr. Strange.

I'm hoping he'll take after the Steve Ditko Dr. Strange, he wasn't particularly muscular. Brains over brawn!!!!!

If I may (belatedly) interrupt this discussion of Benedict Cumberbatch's muscles, Google just brought up a new Dr.-Strange-rumors article that includes this bit:

More peculiar is the listing of both Ken Watanabe and Martin Freeman as casting candidates for the Ancient One. In a recent press release just two weeks ago, Marvel announced Freeman would be joining the MCU and would first be seen in "Captain America: Civil War."  Fans have speculated that he would portray a supporting role such as a political or corporate figure but this casting news for "Doctor Strange" indicates that he may have a bigger role in films to come.

Intrigued as I am by the thought of Freeman as The Ancient One, I must reluctantly suspect that the tidbit is actually a slight reworking of this rumor from last December:

I'm hearing from multiple sources that Morgan Freeman, Bill Nighy and Ken Watanabe have been approached for the role of The Ancient One in Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” ....

There are other Freemans!

Oh my ... I have to admit, I'm having a hard time imagining Martin fitting into the Marvel Universe, due to his .... erm .... stature. But Morgan? No problem. Plus he's got that voice (yoiks, I just imagined hearing a dialog between Morgan Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch .... *swoon*)

I can see Martin in Marvel as a more ordinary human type character. Any super power character not as likely.

I think you may both be selling him short (sorry about that cliche).  I would love to see him in some roles that would typically be filled with bigger actors by unimaginative casting directors.  However, I really do think that this time it was just a typo.

Oh, I don't mean I don't think Martin could pull it off, I mean what you just said -- casting directors usually play it safe, probably for a reason. Just like Dreamworks said they'd consider Ben for anything except romantic comedy. Personally think he'd be brilliant at it but I can see why he's not the "obvious" choice. :(

The thing that would be really funny if it weren't so stupid is that -- once some brave  casting director does cast Freeman as a super-hero or Cumberbatch as a romantic comedian, they'll pull it off so beautifully that afterward they'll have trouble being cast as anything else.

I think Martin would be goo acting-wise as a superhero. It is more of a height thing. He as about an inch in me. Now if there was some shorter super hero he could play, then I'm all for it. And I wouldn't mind Benedict in a rom-com. However, I find most if them are not to my taste & style of comedy.

Hey, if you've got super-powers, who needs to be overgrown?

If Hugh Jackman hadn't made it his already, I think Martin could make a convincing Wolverine (famous for his short stature, y'know.)

I agree about most American rom coms (where's the com?) but I've loved things like Notting Hill and such.

There are a lot of meh romantic comedies out there.  Only a handful will I watch more than once.  My favorite of all time is probably When Harry Met Sally.
