Oh for pity's sake ....

:D

Your turn!

You are not ignorant, it's not everyday's stuffs, I'm just lucky they are areas I'm very familiar with.

Fun fact for Mantis Peacock Shrimp, albeit small in size, they are bad ass and powerful. Lucky enough to observe one beat up a much bigger moral eel.

Anyway, they have powerful punch, enough to break tough crab shell and aquarium glass.

Maybe, maybe, Moriarty doesn't need diamond if he brought one of these to the Crown Museum. :P

I have one. (But jump in any time you guys have some)

Second picture is the same area that the lady is sitting in the first picture.

These guys work together, the lady is helping the guy.

What are they?

I'm guessing glass blowers.

Waks..what gives? Too much info in the pictures?

You are absolutely right. Well done!

Finally have the new one:

Whats-in-the-pic.jpg

Can you tell what this is a picture of?

Posted

The shadow of a Nazgul flying over your back yard? :D

Ummm....it's fall, or early winter, it's woodlands .... there's grass too, looks like a nice habitat for deer, bear and assorted game birds. There's a funny little shape, almost exact center ... a critter? Or just part of a tree? It looks vaguely birdlike, but too small for a turkey. A grouse? Or is there a camoflauged deer in there somewhere that I haven't spotted yet? And what is that dark shape... a log? A murder victim? Is any of this even on the right track?

All of it but the murder victim.  The shadow is a tree.  It is fall as of 2 weeks ago today (my time) when I took the pic.  Bears are not likely on this side of the Sawtooth Mountains (unless they are from Chicago ;) ) although they are in the area otherwise.  No known deer in the shot unless they were blending in for me as well but there are definitely deer in the area.  The small critter you see camouflaged in there is indeed a bird of the grouse variety.  It is the female from what I can tell.  The male was closer to my feet by a few yards and initially I had missed it.  They stand still to blend in and do it quite well so I discovered.

So long-winded answer to say that you are correct Arcadia, your turn.

Woo hoo! I'd about convinced myself that was a tree stump and not a bird after all...

Okay ... where are these rocks, and why are they significant?

Reminds me of an archaeological dig or an image taken from the Mars Rover.

Martian rock? As suggested by Camper.

Why are they significant.. uhm.. I guess there are some important information that can be drawn from it.

Could be from the shadow, telling some stories about its cycle, rotation etc.

Or the sand or dust, about wind, weather or content of them that  could prove existence of certain significant substances, maybe suitable for plantation (with some of Matt Damon's toilet produce XD), maybe saying something about what makes it as well.

Or maybe the shape of rock that give information about wind, erosion, the outcropping could tell stories about the surface movement maybe? Or existence of water, or shaped by other natural forces.

Or maybe it's in Sahara desert, I remember some foreign rocks were found there, suspected to be fallen from space or other planet.

I had too much caffeine :p.

Oh, Van Buren, you have it and don't know it!

Martian rocks, yes.

Not the shadow, but one of those other things you mentioned is the correct answer. Hint: it has nothing to do with Matt Damon. :d (Was I the only one who was rather disappointed in that movie?)

Shape and texture are important.

(Running around ransacking the room)

What is it? What is it??

Let's see. Not Matt Damon's shit. Not plantation. Not potato. (Me too, and I like Castaway, well they are similar type of movie. But I am a bit undecided about what make it unimpressive for me).

The rock reminds me a lot like rocks we normally see on the beach, or even underwater. If that's right, it's very important information because it means Mars used to have water, or very significant water body because there should be a lot of water frictions on the rock to get that shape, which leads to two things:

1. There are possibility that Mars has similar characteristic that earth has, which maybe leading to possibility that one day we can expand there, or

2. Mars used to be like Earth, but something destroy it. It looks like desert now, maybe what destroys it similar to what create desert on earth. Deforestation etc. So we can learn not to end up like Mars?

Does it make sense?

Second guess, as I should be working instead of being here. :P

Wind. Wind also create erosion. Rocks also shaped by wind although normally the pattern is different (more like linings or more regular). Winds signifies air, maybe?

Maybe we can live and breathe there??

Congratulations, your first deduction is the correct one ... that ledge is evidence that there used to be running water on Mars. And #1 is closer to what the scientists I stole the photo from  are looking for, the possibility of colonizing Mars. (I would have gone to Mars to take the picture myself but Matt Damon vandalized my spacesuit.....)

My nephew and I agreed we didn't like the movie so much because it was too predictable. And that clearly was not Matt's naked body ambling down the corridor in that one scene.....

Next!

Camper should get it. I merely refining her first answer actually.

Camper, you have something?

Posted

A bit of Martian spoiler hijack :P

Actually, I thought the body double scene is a nice touch, because he should have lost a lot of weight. Since it's just a few second scene, it probably not worth it for him to transform?

Agree, beside predictable, I feel gradually more and more detached to the character and his struggles. While in the beginning, I like his attempts of communication and trying to find ways to self sustain. After that, it gets two-dimensional although I like the last scene when he is giving lecture and has his moment of silent reflection. It reminds me of Tom Hanks looking at lighter in Castaway. If someone went through all that and live to tell, I would treat his words like gospel.

Yeah, I hate to put it this way, but I never felt like he suffered enough to be sympathetic.

Camper, you got one for us?

I will in a bit.

Could she be indicating a newly ended marriage? She doesn't seem too remorseful, so she must have a pretty clear conscience about it if thats the avenue it went down. Her hand is devoid of a ring although it looks to be the left hand so I suppose that doesnt help much... A serious tone seems to color her expression, so nothing too playful... hm. Not quite sure, but thats what I've gathered... T'is a bit late so I apologize for my incoherent thought xD

Hi Greencat, long time no see. Nice deduction, but don't let them fool you :)

I was here before the News thread and I swear I recognize that perfect sexy lips from a mile away regardless how it's disguised. Knew something is amiss :P, but didn't recognize the hand...
