Let's Play Deductions!

It looks familiar.

The brick, roof tile, bamboo and tropical setting looks very Asian to me.

Stone carving and visible part of Frangipani tree, make me suspect that this is Bali, a holiday island in Asia, to be precise, Indonesia. For what I know, there are probably more Frangipani trees here than other places in the world, because locals love to use the flowers for offerings. Stone carving is also one of the distinctive identity.

The separate smaller architecture can be part of bigger building.

Could this be a resort, or a very big restaurant in Bali?

Looks sub-tropical to me too, I'm thinking somewhere around south-east Asia is a good guess, or maybe South India? But it looks artsy to me ... so some sort of cultural arts center, or museum?

It is a two-tier mystery. That place is part of a bigger complex, which have a very different function than the first.

@VBS: Not Bali but it can function as some sort of resort.

@Arcadia: There are enough antique furniture there to qualify as museum but it is not one.

Could it be the garden next to a workplace complex, where employees could go and relax, meditate and take a break from work?

There is a sprawling workplace complex nearby but its employees cannot enter that garden unless given specific permission. Trespasser would be given a warm welcome by guards and patrol dogs. ;)

Private residence of someone powerful? Like a minister, or a royal?

Is it like an ashram or monastery?

Not an ashram or monastery or a club. I don't work for Samsung but your other deduction is correct, joanneta1. Arcadia also partially correct. ^^ It is a private residence and yes, they are connected to the government but not in the ranks of civil servant. ^^

Scores so far:

Van Buren Supernova: 1 (a resort)

Inge l-w: 1 (garden next to a workplace complex)

joanneta1: 1 (private garden of the company's CEO)

Arcadia: 1 (private residence of someone powerful)

Is Camper allowed to make 6 guesses at once like that? :D

Ummmmmm.... wow. Connected to the gov't but not civil service......

Is it the home of someone in the military?

Not Mycroft's summer residence but could be an option if he want to avoid a particularly harsh winter giggle-skype-smiley.gif

Not a president's/prime minister's/emperor's/king's home/palace, nor someone in the military's home.

Sure! :)

It would be more interesting to read the train of thought as well.

You ruled out Indonesia, maybe it's Thailand, Phillippine or Malaysia?

But that wasn't the question.

Could this be a retired personel who used to occupy some government position or has family relation with someone in the government?

It seems like a recretional place. Could this be an attached golf course or some sport like archery range?

Not retired yet and not as far as I know for both questions.

Well... there is a swimming pool there and you can jog around the place if so inclined.

@CAMPer: No lol

I was just trying to cover all possible titles (minus dictator) for the head/leader of a country and what they call their dwelling.

Could it belong to the CEO of Oracle? (I forget what his name is & don't feel like looking it up)
