Yeah, apparently (and I find the effect even more unsettling in the film).  It's from Wild Target, where he plays a stony-cold hit man -- thank goodness it's a comedy, and his scenes are hilarious.

Actually, it's a comedy about a different hit man (played by Bill Nighy). Freeman plays the bad hit man.

Oh, I would say we are relatively tame fangirling-wise. Also it depents how you define fangiriling :D

And I will play devil's advocate and ask: what makes Sherlock attractive (as interesant) for men? I mean if you are a strait man, you cannot react on - let's say it - hormonal basis, which often bugs me, because I know I might not be entirely objective in my opinion about the show.

I think there are a few other guys as well, though most of them have never said anything to clarify that. But yeah, as with most media fandoms, the most active fans are mostly female. Same goes for Star Trek, even though it and Sherlock both seem to attract a large number of male viewers.

 

Bit of advice -- if you think we're fan-girly here, then don't go on Tumblr, whatever you do!

I agree, haha....that picture is to me not attractive either, I don't know the actor - but I think from that picture I would not even find him attractive if I was a gay man! (because it looks very 'boy-groupish' to me...also, I have sometimes the thought like 'if I was a gay man, I would find this man attractive...')...not scary though, rather, like 'uh...not my type, and maybe too young as well, ahem....'

 

May I say, coming back to the topic of favourite male actors - one of my alltime favourite actors since the late 80s has recently passed away. The wonderful Alan Rickman. Who even shared my birthdate (in month and day, not year...).

I think it is a great loss. Also Christopher Lee who left last year, always been impressive...

One who is still among the living, Christopher Walken - also a legend in my opinion.

 

And as Star Trek was mentioned - Karl Urban and Simon Pegg are awesome. Both have been great in other roles, and will be in the future, I suppose. :)Ian McKellen - also legendary, always worth watching a film. Whether he's Gandalf, Magneto, Mr. Holmes or whomever, just brilliant! 

I think I could continue the list on and on, as I don't really have 'that one favourite actor', male or female. They are examples for who I like most (just like Benedict and Martin of course, which I think I don't need to mention in this forum ;D...) - and there are a lot that became like my favourites because I have seen many films with them and the films themselves were mostly brilliant, not necessarily because I found the actor(s) attractive. Still I can go 'fangirling' all over them :lol:....and there are a lot who are from the majority called 'attractive males', which I would not respond to as men, but I like their acting and the roles they play. Johnny Depp, for example. Love his films and the roles (basically because I am a huge fan of Tim Burton's films...), but no 'fangirling', nope, sorry....

Seriously. That is possibly the scariest place I have ever been on the internet. Well, except for that neo-Nazi site I stumbled into that one time.... brrrr.

That's mostly me, too; I like George Clooney, for instance, because I like every film I've seen him in. Ditto Tom Hanks, and probably some others that I can't think of right now. Jimmy Stewart! But they don't "turn me on" in that way. I tend to favor non-traditionally handsome males anyway. I found Dennis Dun super attractive at one point, for instance. (Don't worry, most other people have never heard of him either. :P ) There are times when I find Benedict Cumberbatch drop dead beautiful (not handsome, exactly.) But I gush over him mostly because of his brains, talent, sense of humor and basic decency. Just hope it's all real and not an elaborate PR cover! :D
