Oh, Aurelie, I feel for you, I really do. I wish someone had an answer. I don't understand why either ... what do they think they'll gain? Do they really think the rest of us will just throw up our hands and surrender to ... whatever it is they want? (What do they want?) It seems to me every action they take just guarantees that the rest of the world will turn even more against them ... so what's the point? I don't think I'm capable of understanding their reasoning... whatever it is.

Anyway, I hope you are okay. Don't let the bastards get you down.

Amen to that!  On 9/11, Alex and I had been planning to drive to Indianapolis to have dinner with some friends, but then after the attacks, I thought of cancelling -- partly because having fun then seemed a bit inappropriate, and partly because we had no idea whether other American cities might still be attacked.  But then I thought, if we let today's events change the way we live, then we've let them win.

Well, I believe those masterminds behind this are safely sitting in safe place with their families and pulling strings, exploiting human stupidity and ignorance to pass their agendas and create chaos...for whatever purposes that we would never understand.

We can cure sickness, we can create modern technology, but seems like we can never fix idiocy.

Considering that in A Study in Scarlet, Doctor Watson had just returned to England from the Second Anglo-Afghan War. and that in "A Study in Pink," John has just returned from yet another war in Afghanistan, I frankly don't hold out much hope that that part of the world will settle down any time soon.  I guess my best hope is that I'm wrong about that.

Thanks Arcadia, I'm alright. I don't live anywhere near Brussels.

Considering that (according to Wikipedia) Belgium is about 1/3 the size of Indiana (which is about the size of Portugal), your idea of "anywhere near" must translate to "practically on top of" in US terms.  But Brussels would be a prime target, so I do see your point.

Airstrike hit Syria hospital?

Children. Doctors.

What are we at? Hunger game?

I heard about that this morning, but haven't been near the news since. Have they found out who did it yet, or if it was deliberate?

What a world....

I know right? I can't, I just can't

Last time I read the news, it is not known yet.

I don't believe it though.

Even now, it just seems to be the different sides blaming each other. Weird. What else is new, I guess.

I honestly doesn't understand people who rely 100% on rote memorization and cannot find their way when there is slight change. It seems to be a constant problem in my life, teaching those kind of people to the frustration of both parties. The same kind of people who would rather open their mouth to ask where is something located at when actually the very item that they search for is plainly under their nose all this time. *sigh* Honestly, I am at loss on how to deal with these people. Why can't they try to rely on themselves instead of keep bothering me for something that they can try themselves if only they have the initiative to try implementing past skill to the new setting.

Edit: They are people who are lazy on trying to exercise their mental and intellectual muscles. Add with close-minded and way too stuck with 'there is only one correct way to do something' then it is a perfect recipe to grate on my nerves.

I blame their parents. XD

I do wonder if they can help it, though. I'm sure some are just intellectually lazy, but I think maybe (?) some people's brains just work in a linear fashion and they can't help it? I know some of my students simply can't make the intuitive leaps some of the others can ... everything has to be a step by step process for them. Whereas others can't follow even a simple instruction without wandering off into uncharted territory.

Context: I teach art, and my students are adults. So they come to me pretty fully formed. That's one of many reasons I don't teach kids; don't want to be responsible for ruining their critical faculties! :D

:| Maybe you are right... Linear brain? So it would have to be hand-holding all the way? *shivers*

Just give them linear tasks and they'll do fine. I think. It's also possible that they're simply stupid. :d

:D Think I will write a mini book for them, it would cover the complete functions of the app. That way I can say, "It is in the book, read it," and they can stop wasting my time.

That's far more polite than RTFM --and sounds like a great idea!

I predict it will not work.

People who want/need their hands held aren't going to read a book. They'll just go find the person that did read the book, and ask them.

I think you're best bet, Shadow, is to say "I don't know, but I know who does," and direct them to some other poor slob. :d
