As for the whole 7-11/Starbucks thing, come to Minnesota and you find Caribou Coffee more often than Starbucks as a standalone. If Target had been smart be my a Minnesota company, they would have partnered with a Minnesota coffee company for their stores. That maneuver would have put 6 Caribous within 10 minutes of my house instead of 4 (3 of them are about 5 minutes away depending on lights and traffic). I only have 2 standalone Starbucks in that same distance, the other 2 are in their respective Target Stores.

Starbucks is number in every state but Minnesota for favorite coffee based on something I saw several weeks ago. Caribou is number 1 here. The funny thing is yesterday I was at a caribou and didn't notice it to be as busy as the Starbucks just down the shopping area from it.

I wish they wouldn't hide those big seeds in rice, if you don't find it, or forget to look, you're at risk of breaking a tooth. Anyone know what they are? I thought cumin but they're little.

Hm, possibly. They look bigger and rounder when in amongst rice, but that might just be a perspective thing.

Oy. That's not good. Maybe I shouldn't tell you this, but ... what you've encountered is the dreaded spotted lettuce seed. It's harmless as a lettuce, but if it gets into your rice ... ugh. First you see spots in your rice, then you see spots in front of your eyes, then you get committed for seeing things. I'm so sorry, Pseud; it's been fun knowing you.

The first pic reminded me of fennel seeds. But unskinned or undercooked rice can be quite hard. I had also thought about wheatberries, but they usually soften when cooked with rice.

Just be thankful it's not the second one, Pseud. Those are mouse droppings. Much better to be seeing spots; too bad about the asylum, though. Maybe Eurus will visit you there.

It's definitely a seed of some sort we get it in all pre-cooked rice. Next time I get a pack I'll hunt through the instructions and identify it.
