Fannish people are very tenacious. Doctor Who fans didn't go away because there wasn't any for over 10 years at a time way back in the 80s/90s and Sherlock fans wouldn't dream of abandoning their boys for the sake of waiting either. The forum is great because it's somewhere to spend time with like minded (aka obsessed) people.

I'm not sure if it will work for you with iplayer on the BBC, but it's worth a try. I used a thing called HotSpot Shield, there's a free version available here and I found it very effective.

Could you use a proxy type service to view iplayer? I used to use one to watch things on Hulu which weren't officially available outside the USA.

As for airdates in the UK... there's usually a lot of speculation but we only find out 6 weeks or so in advance. With regards to cutting episodes, I used to watch Highlander: the series in the 90s and the European version of that was 4 minutes longer in a 60 minute time slot.

I would be more than happy for the Doctor to meet Greg and Molly... Just think, while all that hoo-ha during the hiatus is going on, the Doctor could run in, pick up Greg and whiz him off for a bit of R&R, maybe mentioning that he once travelled with a relation of his (Riddell from Dinosaurs on a Space Ship). -
I think, as do a lot of other British Sherlock fans, that it will air on New Years Eve or New Years Day. A Scandal in Belgravia was broadcast on New Years Day, so there is a precedent. Also, I don't think they'll want to divert interest at all from the Doctor Who 50th anniversary stuff in November, or the Christmas Special with its Regeneration and seeing as The Moff is the main Showrunner for both Doctor Who and Sherlock (as well as Mark Gatiss being both a Who writer/actor and a Sherlock showrunner) I think it very likely that he'll want to have everyone's attention on each of his shows.

I suppose strictly speaking, St Bart's would be the church around the corner from the hospital itself. There are actually 2 Saint Bartholomew's churches, within a short distance of the hospital, well St Bart's the Less is actually within the grounds of the hospital and is the official hospital church - so says wiki at least. -

Will be interesting to see if you're right (but as I'm in the UK, I won't be going anyway). Also, Welcome to the forum, RebelBowty! -

I only have 2 computers (that work, I have bits of about 7 more PCs not to mention the ancient ones dotted around - like one of the previously mentioned zx-81s). Hex is Hex because of the organic computer in Discworld, he even has a sticker that says "anthill inside" on his case which I put on after I built him. My other computer is a netbook called Victoria, though she needs an overhaul right now - a complete format and a new installation of linux. My friend who is in her 20s names hers too - her desktop was called Lisa (I say was as Lisa doesn't work any more, can't be fixed economically and is currently taking up some more computer space in my house as it was cheaper to get me to have a look than a computer repair place) and her laptop is Bob. Maybe it's a bit of a geek thing? I don't know. My cars are only ever named 'the Batmobile' and that's because I fill them with bats... -
See, now I'd pick Farscape over B5, but I wouldn't pick DS9 over B5. I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned Blake's 7 or the Tomorrow People on here, if I did, I think Tim might possibly be the only one who would know what I was talking about. Please feel free to pick another pair, SH/LotR/Zelda Fan

Flying visit to London aka Sherlockian Shenanigans

I shall crop the window one down and post the interesting bit. As for the phone booth, my American friend was freaked out in a good way by a passing London Bobby. Policeman: I hope you aren't going to write on there. Me: * tries to hide sharpie and waves camera* Oh no, officer, just taking some pictures. Policeman: OK then *wanders off* After my mate had fits of giggles, she then regaled us with how the same conversation probably would have gone with a member of the LA PD; it was a lot more aggressive to say the least. I don't think I would have added any graffiti if no-one else had, and most of it is fairly small as people are very carefully only writing on the red bits, leaving the windows free for the notes. -

If I use VLC player on Hex (my computer) I don't get asked but when I used Power dvd I only got a certain number of times to watch both until it locked the dvd to a particular region (unless you reinstalled it before it did that). Needless to say, VLC is my player of choice. As for my 'proper' dvd player downstairs, I bought the cheapest one I could find from Asda (a branch of walmart) and it plays everything. -
