The reason that your post didn't show up right away is that all new members must have their first few posts approved, which can take a few hours, depending on when a staff member happens to be online.  Before that, the posts are invisible to everyone else (including the new member).  And if you're wondering why your post count is still zero, that's because posts in the game area aren't included in the count.
