Happy Halloween to everyone in the time zones behind me!

Happy Halloween, here it is past now...but dia de los muertos is still on 1st Nov I think....? Love the candy skulls. This year I decorated my front door so the kids who dared to come out in our backyard would know that here's a Halloween-friendly person who has lots of sweets :D Well, five cute little witches managed to come up trick or treating, the rest of the candy I have as every year for myself, as I always buy way too much... Last year there was also just one time a bunch of kids ringing my door, they were obviously very courageous after my neighbour chased them away when they tried her door. So this time I thought I put out some cheap decoration to let people know not everyone's a Halloween-Grinch. :skull:  Don't know if she doesn't like kids or just thinks Halloween sucks.

In Germany it becomes more popular, but it's still far away from the big deal it is over there in America.

I'm afraid I'm more the Halloween grinch type. I'm not a fan of kids (or people in general), and frankly after being in work and then going to the gym it's been a long day and I just want to sit down and eat my dinner in peace. I don't chase kids away, I just watch tv in the dark and pretend I'm not in.  No one knocked on my door anyway.

Here it seems more an excuse for teenagers to be @rseholes, most little kids go to parties rather than trick or treating. It's not as a big a deal here as it is in America either.

I am not a big fan of kids either,  but on Halloween they are somehow cute :) . As much as I can see here that is, I can imagine some just take it as an opportunity to vandalize and be just brats, luckily they don't run around in my area (yet).

Some people didn't even send out their kids this year for trick or treating because there are currently some weirdos who watched probably too much Suicide Squad or something scaring people dressed as clowns with chainsaws and baseball bats. I never met one, but they were going through the media recently.

I wonder if they'd run away when I say 'I'M BATMAN' :batman:

The Batman bit - was that a reference to the guy we had here who was chasing off clowns whilst dressed as Batman? Though the funniest thing I saw was a quote from a bloke in the newspaper who had a 'killer clown' jump out and him and headbutted him - the quote was "That's what happens when you scare people, you get nutted." Cracked me up because it's such a stereotypical English lad quote, like something from a comedy.

@bluebell Dias De Los Muertos is November 2. November 1 is All Saints Day. And October 31 (beside being All Hallow's Eve aka Halloween) is also Reformation Day. This year was the 499th anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his 95 theses to the church door in Wittenberg, Germany.

According to sites that I've been reading, Dia de Muertos (not "Dia de Los Muertos," although you'll often see it written that way) is actually two days, namely November 1st, when those who died as children are honored, and the 2nd, for the adults. These holidays are quite ancient, and used to be earlier in the year, but were moved due to the influence of Catholic missionaries, to coincide with All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.

The clowns are highly resembled in media here in Finland also. D: The most horrible thing I have heard is that in some towns the clowns have even rung people's doorbells. In my opinion that is way too much. I would be scared shitless, if a clown came to my doorstep. Hopefully they will never come here. Police has also intervened to the clown issue, because they have scared people too much and caused mess with traffic.

Last week I was working in school and the teachers told that many children are scared of the clowns and have heard that they will murder people in the streets. Also, many children have decided that it is forbidden to dress as a clown to their Halloween parties. Wise decision. :P

Batman, we need you!

Our daylight saving ended this weekend, meaning it's now pitch black outside when leaving work :(

Has daylight saving ended elsewhere (where you have it)?

Not yet, but in a few more days. I will miss it because it means darker sooner, which is a bummer when I teach night classes. Ah well, such is life.

Happy belated Halloween. For me, I think nobody had ever wished that for at least couple of years.

Like the cool dad story..! :)

Do you guys do costumes?

I guess it could be fun if you are into it, especially the creative one.

For me, I always avoid that mainly because I'm too lazy.

On events I couldn't avoid I remember my costumes were: lab technician or whatever, just grab my lab coat that we used for chemistry class, Neo from matrix, easy, coat and sun glass, and Freida from slumdog millionaire, wear jeans and white shirt and long scarf.

Easy, but for Freida I had to hide in the toilet when they were choosing 'worst costume' because every female actually dressed up and noone got what I was. :p

Haven't heard about Batman.

Seriously, those clowns. If it happened in my area, I would grab my baseball bat when I went out.

Not for hunting them down, not for being a hero either, but to beat the sh*t out of them best to my capability if they ever attempted to scare me. No one deserves to live in fear, poor those children and parents..

Hey, I did that once!  A friend gave an annual Halloween party, and one year I wore my clean-room coat and infrared goggles from work.  (Didn't wear my clean-room booties, though.)

Hallowe'en is so big over the pond...

And it's beginning to infect over here!

I don't really do costumes unless I end up going to a party or something where it is required, this year I had Wednesday Addams as my backup costume incase I did end up going anywhere but instead I stayed in. Wednesday Addams is fairly easy to pull off since the clothes aren't too out there, though I would have had to hunt down a long black wig.

I just fell down the stairs, am in pain. Had to divert to the shop on the way to work to get a bag of frozen peas and some extra strength painkillers, but have the feeling they won't help much. Feels like the bruise is going to cover all of the right side of my back. Wonderful.

I haven't had the occasion to dress up for Halloween for awhile, but if I did, I totally would. I think my best costume ever was ... my dad's (black) graduation robe, white makeup, a scythe, and a hotplate. I was ... ta da! ... Death Warmed Over. ;) Made my boss jump ten feet, too.

Today we were talking about moral dilemmas: if there was an car accident, and you would either be hit by a car or hit a woman and a baby. What would the you do?

There used to endless of these kind of scenarios set in moral philosophy classes...can't say I enjoy them!

Penny for the guy!

I was cracking my head trying to remember what is significant today because the date rings a bell. (But then, that's not it :p)

Eh, you fell down the stair?

How many times I have to tell you that you shouldn't look at hot gifs when going down stair? Oh, I haven't? Excuses excuses..

(Reminder: by proper social manner template, this is the time to insert kind sympathetic words)

Oh.. I see you are alright and around, get well s... and what? Did you just make a bag of frozen peas not fulfilling their original destiny?

Ah, that's where I was going wrong, and I blame you! You posted three hot gifs that very morning, and I was too busy drooling to pay attention to where I was walking. I now have a big black bruise as penance for my leering.

The peas are now back in the freezer so they may one day get to fulfil their ultimate dream :D

Well I am glad the peas are alright physically, you may need to answer to them psychologically though.

Hmm... if my gorgeous gifs are harmful, maybe I shouldn't post..

OR I SHOULD.

Bahahahahahahahahaha
