But my mind would be perfect for national governments and terrorist cells alike with all the stuff that goes through my brain but doesn't come out.  Let's just say when the Interstate 35W bridge collapsed in Minnesota 7 yeas ago and people initially were wondering if it was a terrorist attack, I wasn't the least surprised (and very glad that it wasn't a terrorist attack).

Creeeeepy... Girl you bettuh hope the Feds aren't tunning in to this forum.

I'm probably already on 1 of their lists from when 3 of their agents were in a very minor car crash when the non-winter experienced driver hit the winter experienced driver who stopped on my tail & rear-ended me almost 15 years ago in one of the 1st snowfalls of December (and the whole of that winter season).  The only damage was to the license plate holder of the agent who ended up hitting me.  I even got a call from the FBI making sure that the story the agents told was the same as what I said.

They don't trust their own agents?  I suppose that makes sense -- as Sherlock said, they spy on people for money.

And who knows who is on any of their lists?

I'll tell you have who's on their list. You're on the list. I'm on the list. We're all on the list!

A job I applied for back thirty years ago still had a McCarthy-era loyalty oath that I was supposed to sign:

I hereby swear (or affirm) that I am not now and never have been a member of the Communist Party or any other organization considered subversive by the Attorney General's Office.

I told the HR guy, "How can I sign this?  I have no idea what groups the AG considers subversive."  He muttered something about why the heck is that even on there, and crossed it out.  They still offered me the job.  (I declined.  Didn't seem like much of a fun place to work.)

But for all I know, that incident put me on somebody's list.  And if not, then this post just might!

I'm thinking the "Let's Play Murder" thread pretty much put us on every law enforcement agency's list.....

Socialism, okay. Communism? Umm, no. I know people who think they're the same thing, but the difference between them is enough to turn me against the latter.

Yes, something like universal health care is a really great idea but a moderate form of utilitarianism seems the best course to me ... making things better for as many as possible while trying to contain life's negatives.  Actual practicing communism always seems so oppressive.  All those photos of dull, grey life in the Soviet Union for the average citizen ... and still there were people who ended up in positions of frightening power ... and the Gulags !  :o Clearly not the Utopia they envisaged.  I have Communist Party members and radical union organizers in my family history, apparently ... working class Scottish immigrants to Canada in the early 1920's ... it seems totally ridiculous to me that they could be on somebody's "list" ... but maybe they were !

Yes. Not dictarships people. I'm talking about socialism. I feel that system is far more for the people versus our government where every single person is a crook. Yes crooks. Corporate Lobbyists run the US.

A study of Judaism shows that their form of government before they had their first king was socialistic in nature.  The biggest difference between their version of socialism and what we've had through out history is the person running it.  Their version was run by God not a human.  The human run versions tend to have just as much corruption & greed as any non-socialistic government.  My main reason for not liking socialism is I know how it is supposed to look when run correctly and know how much it won't be run correctly.

Oh, okay. It was the word "communism" that threw me off, usually that's associated with pretty repressive government policies. Socialism, on the other hand ... some people would argue we're already there! (My lack of decent, affordable health insurance would argue otherwise.) I don't think ANY system has been invented that will keep the greedy from keeping more than their share, though. They will always find a way.

Well, I live in a country with socialistic and communistic history so I see it quite differently. And you're wrong if you think that socialistic governments are not full of crooks.

For sure. Set up a system, any system, and people will figure out how to play it to their own advantage. As Thomas Jefferson said, "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance" -- no matter who's in office.

And, in more industrialized countries, we've been kind of bombarded by the idea that most politicians are crooked and mainly out for themselves.  I suppose that follows from politics being a rather expensive pastime and most regular working people not expecting to have the resources to become the next Prime Minister or President ... in spite of the fantasy that anybody can actually achieve that goal !  A lot of our "entertainment" shows politicians as accepting favours from gangsters in order to win their constituencies and taking bribes to pass bills to make things good for bad guys.  They're visible so it's easy to pick on them ... but ... they're prominent and have friends in many places, so it's easy for them to get away with things.  It's hard to know just what to think.

I suppose in the movies the gangsters are spin speak for the special intrest groups and the lobbiests.  It does seem that votes can be bought and sold.
