Kill Mrs Hudson? Are you mad? England would fall!

The only characters I could bare to see die would be Mary, because sadly, that is part of her original story arch, so it wouldn't feel so terribly, awfully wrong (though I'm still hoping they can somehow work around that) or Mycroft. I wouldn't shed many tears for Mycroft. No a single one, probably. I would miss his lines, though. He gets such great dialogue.

Mycroft! You know, I'd really cry. I think that would make me dizzy. Ooooo good one Toby. Like I said it wouldn't bother me one bit if they killed off Molly, but Lestrade would be really hard to take & so would Mrs. Hudson.

I would shout for joy if Donovan dies... I would be ok with Mary kicking the bucket & I wouldn't be bothered if Mary miscarried or something. ( Fictional show people, I'd be devastated about a real life miscarriage.)

I'd probably cry if Mrs. Hudson died (or in real life Una Stubbs) just because Una & Ben have known each other so long outside of the show & I like the wit they put in her lines (and the way she delivers the non-witty lines).

As much as I would miss Mary, I expect she'll be taken out somehow if Mofftiss sticks to canon at least enough to take her out even if they stray in the how.

Donovan and Anderson make great annoying antagonists so as much as I wouldn't miss them, I would to a degree because they both grate Sherlock.

Seems to me that each of the continuing characters serves a different purpose, so each of them is vital to the stories.  If any of the actors had to leave the show for good, I suppose their character could be killed off -- but I hope Moftiss would resort to that only if it served the story well.  Keeping a character alive keeps more options open.

Awwwwww Carol, you're so sweet. The writers have proven not to share the same level of sweet tooth that you have. But I suppose it would be ok if they don't kill anyone off. I would still be thoroughly delighted if they killed off a main character, however sad it would make me.

They can't even let the ones that did die stay dead! Maybe we could start with keeping the corpses in their graves before we create new ones...

Well, unless "they faked their deaths at each other", you'll have at least one corpse :) But I do not know if he wasn't removed from his grave...

I still do not believe in Jim Moriarty's return. Moriarty's, yes, that seems possible. Jim? I don't know.

Alright, again thanks Toby for being so illuminating.

I really want the Watson's to be set on the baby name Rachel, then I want her to be still born. How well would that tie season 4 in with Season 1 yes?!?

I would really love that! Cool.

You most certainly do! :P

I'd rather there were no baby. That'd be a brilliant twist, and I at least could respect Mary for pulling that one on John... That's even more daring than marrying him.

Yes. The baby should die, and then John sinks back into the deep depths of Woe-is-I and turns violent. (Typically, men are more aggressive than usual when depressed.)

I'm funny about the baby. First of all, I'm a bit peeved that they wrote it in at all. I mean, what for? But now that it's there, I am strongly opposed to any harm coming to it. For some reason, I think it's morally wrong to invent a baby only to kill it off. Now they've introduced Miss Watson, they have to keep her, in my opinion.

Why on earth should Mary fake a pregnancy, as has been suggested? What purpose would that serve? Besides, she's only just gotten John to talk to her again, why would she be stupid enough to lie to him again about something as big as that?

It should serve the purpose of not having to invent ways to kill off a baby. I do not want it in the show, and I do not want it to die. I'd be alright with it if Mary decided to bugger off with the baby before the birth, too.

Well, I sincerely fear they wrote a baby into it to make it more realistic for John to take Mary back. That way, the people who are not okay with that can at least see a reason for him to do so. "For the sake of the kid(s)" and all that rot. Which is a bit problematic in my opinion, too. If a parent is harmful to the child, it's better to raise the child on their own. But that's very subjective.

I am actually not amazed with John's parental skills. For all he knows, she could have murdered children in the past. Smothered them in their sleep. Shot them down while they were playing on the street.

I should stop now. I am getting angry about this again... I just dislike it when writers consider you incapable of rational thought and believe whole-heartedly that you will buy the stories they tell you. I literally can't get past the "She saved me" line without pausing the video to compose myself... And I understand your argument, Arcadia, that it could very well be an attempt at impressionist writing. But... heck, that's what you do with minor cases, not the season finale... The entire thing frustrates me.

Although I'm sure she wouldn't do any of those things to her own baby.

Ok then it's still born. Naaaaah, I say name it Rachel.

Maybe John gets angry about it again. Like, Mary tries to kill someone else, and John finds out, so when the baby is born there's a big custody battle, because who the heck wants their baby to be raised by a murderer? (Then again, who the heck would want their baby to be raised with an adrenaline addict who solves crimes with a self-proclaimed sociopath?)

Who the heck wants to watch a show about a custody battle?

Theoretically, I would, but I certainly don't want to see that kind of thing on Sherlock. Ugh.

Somehow, I'd like a few glimpses of John as a father. I have a feeling that he'd be a very good one. I wouldn't want his family life to take center stage, but I really wouldn't mind a few brief, nice scenes.

As for Sherlock, there is one scene in the original stories where Holmes interacts with a baby, in "The Sussex Vampire", and I'd love to see them do a version of it:

"Then he smiled, and his eyes came back to the baby. On its chubby neck there was this small puckered mark. Without speaking, Holmes examined it with care. Finally he shook one of the dimpled fists which waved in front of him. “Good-bye, little man. You have made a strange start in life."

I love the idea that he shakes the infant's hand and speaks to it as if it were a grown-up. I think that's pretty much exactly what Sherlock would do.

If Sherlock (Benedict's version) was talking to a baby, I dare say he would not use the crazy baby talk we use as "ordinary people" because he would find that totally beneath him and nuts.  He would probably question the logic and sanity of it as a total waste of time.

Fatherhood. Overrated.

Sherlock would probably be able to buy the place at this point with his income and international reputation.  Shouldn't be a problem.  Can't really do anything with Mrs. Hudson or England will fall... :)  But depending on how long the series goes, obviously she will not be in it the entire time due to her age.
