Height can be an interesting thing.  My dad sits taller than my brother, but he was 3 inches shorter than my brother when that height test was done.

If we look at the main guys of Sherlock (including the 2 villains) and put them in order of height (based on IMDb info):

  • Lars Mikkelsen 6' 3.5" (1.92m)
  • Mark Gatiss 6' 1" (1.85m)
  • Benedict Cumberbatch 6' (1.83m)
  • Rupert Graves & Jonathan Aris 5' 11" (1.8m)
  • Andrew Scott 5' 8" (1.73m)
  • Martin Freeman 5' 6.5" (1.69m)

And the ladies:

  • Amanda Abbington 5' 4" (1.63m)
  • Louise Brealey & lara Pulver 5' 3" (1.6m)
  • Una Stubbs 5' 2" (1.57m)

Sorry nothing on Vinette Robinson (Sgt. Donovan) but I suspect she's at least Amanda's height if not taller.

Not that it is important, but I thought that Mark is actually taller than Lars.

Lars made an impression of being quieter than others, but he is so not like Magnussen :) Really charming and courteous; as I went for his signature there was no one in his cue and we have had a little chat about him and his troupe of artists trying to start a revolution in Moscow's underground in the 90ties.  :D

Louise Breckon-Richards is a lovely lady, it's a pity you see only her back in SIP. She said she's had a little dialogue bit ordering a taxi, but it was cut because it was revealing too much of the plot. It was her first convention too and she seemed to be as overwhelmed as I was. The shooting of the Pink Lady lasted several days, she said it was uncomfortable as hell, her neck was totally stiff at the end of the day. Things we do for Sherlock...

The biggest surprise was Loo though. She was so not like Molly or the girl we saw in this sad short film. A real little whirlwind - energetic, helping to arrange her photo and autograph cues, giving hugs to everyone. Her hair was shorter too  and red.

Jonathan Aris was a funny and nice in person, but I was quite sure he wouldn't be like Anderson at all.  He was fooling around during the panel with Rupert, but well - actually everybody was. I haven't laughed so much for ages. It was also the achievement of the moderator, who was a real hoot and made a great job.

Sitting there I realized that every actor in Sherlock comes from theater and probably that's why they felt so at home on the stage. Heck, even Steven is a comedian with talent for improvisations. He and Mark were asked when they met for the first time and the story was quite bizarre. Haven't understood the half of it, but it was hilarious.   :D

They can lie or make up stories without blinking an eye. I personally knew only one person who had this ability.

First photos as a little apetizer - take a look and salivate evilgrin.gif:

The main Trophy. Don't ask me who is who. The 'stache is done by Steven and Lara crossed the silver signature of Ben. shakehead.gif There is a sig from Little Moff, who was there (and I think his younger brother too) and the blue one is from Danny Hargreaves - I managed to get the book signed in the last moment - just before he dashed away to claim a BAFTA for Dr Who. There must be Arwel somewhere and his buddy who sanded the stairs to make them look old.

So how did it work with the signatures, you just go from person to person and get in line?

Posted

I didn't have to, actually. VIPs just had to find the next crew member to get their card punched and were brought to the front - I have been modest and lined myself up somewhere among the first 10 people  :lol4: . The others had it less nice. You had to buy a ticket - online or on site, and get into a loooooooooooooong queue... I didn't really read the details.

The same was for photos.

At first I felt a little bit uncomfortable about this, but nobody wanted to strangle me. After a while I even started to enjoy that  :D.

Steven had whole piles of chocolate lying on his table each time I saw him signing. I think this was a plot of his boys to make Big Moff give his little secret away in the interview! BTW, Little Sherlock was also there! :D

Now little Sherlock would have been a hoot to talk to!

Calling it "Saint Bart's Hospital" sounds like more of a fannish thing.  It's always just Bart's or Bart's Hospital on the show.

Posted on Tumblr, supposedly from the Convention (http://geckogill.tumblr.com/post/117431920729/sherlocks-toe-tag-from-the-fall-interesting)

Gunshot?!?!

agreed on the gunshot.  He jumped.  Now if it had said Moriarty, then fine & Mycroft could be used in place of the next of kin just because he is the British Government. Also wouldn't the form technically say Saint/St. Bartholomew's Hospital as that is the proper name for the hospital even though it is usually referred to as Bart's or St. Bart's?

Gunshot -- well, that was the time he died (temporarily) after Mary shot him.  (Did they have time to write up the paperwork?)

Agreed -- if it's Saint (or St.) then it's Bartholomew's, not Bart's.

I forgot about the HLV gunshot and I just watched that episode on Saturday last week.    Apply Sherlock quote from ASIP about what it's like in our funny little brains.

Rupert thinks Lestrade fancies Molly:

Q: What do you think of Molly?
Rupert Graves: I think Lestrade really fancies her. There’s a moment at the Christmas party when she takes her coat off.

At least there are three things that I achieved as planned: The Dog, The Pic and The Smilie.

The Dog:
I was allowed to take it from he shelf and put on the table to make a photo. *squeeeeeeee*.
It was heavy, massive metal.

But Arwel couldn't say anything about it being anyhow connected with Redbeard.

The Pic:

Well, it is somehow cursed - one never gets a clear image of it. Might be due to the glass it is behind - no gallery or anti-reflex glass.

Nobody has an idea what it is, but it shows kind of a cavern or caldera filled with water and overgrown by tropic plants.

The Smilie:

This is 100% the first and original smilie from TGG.
I could touch it! *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*. So it is still alive and kicking... eh... smiling.

And the Wallpaper pattern looks sometimes black and sometimes dark brown, depending on the light.

Interesting bits of info from JP's photos - including some birthdays.

Irene Adler:  12 May 1983 - but it gives her age at death of 24 which would have been 2007 and that was before Sherlock and John met.  Slight continuity problem.

Jim Moriarty:  5 April 1976

The criminal paperwork on Moriarty also suggests he was arrested (or surrendered himself to the police) on May 5.  Another envelope says the case covers the years 2011-2012.

And who was the photographer of Jim Brooks?  Arwel Jones.  (LOL)

Also, apparently Jim Moriarty promised to pay his own £400,000 bond if he didn't show up, and the address listed is the same as the Mountford Agency, where Jim Brooks was represented as talent.

5 Cranston Hill

London, M1A 9CM

The M1A could also have a double entendre of MIA - missing in action.
