Uhm, Debbie, after you dropped the F bomb a few times, your avatar became nondescript to me. I was like that Avatar doesn't fit the Deb. I feel your avatar really proves you can't judge a book by it's cover. You may be cuddly, but certainly not as innocent as that teddy bear.

It must be the power of suggestion, but I keep seeing the snake !  What's that on his right shoulder ?  I think I need my eyes tested, I can't make it out.  I don't look anything like a teddy bear, BTW, and have no teddy bear-like characteristics ... although I know some people who would find bear-like appropriate. ;) Do teddy bears really go round and round the garden ?  That line makes me laugh every time I hear it.

Debbie

What appears to be the head of the snake (assuming that you're seeing the same optical illusion that I am) is actually the bowl of the fox's pipe, and what appears to be the snake's body is actually the smoke starting to rise.

Y'know, I'm wondering if maybe Fox was right in the first place -- maybe the pipe and smoke are supposed to look like the "Speckled Band" snake and the "Hound" hound -- an intentional optical illusion.

I'm not sufficiently British to know for sure, but I've heard that Sherlock's "teddy bear" line is actually a quote from an English nursery rhyme.  So maybe English teddy bears really do go round and round the garden.  Though I thought teddy bears were American?

I googled it and Sherlock's lines are from a nursery rhyme dated back to the late 1940's according to Wikipedia.  And it states that it could be based off older versions that used a hare as teddy bears weren't popular until the 20th century (thank you President Teddy Roosevelt for not shooting a bear cub while hunting).

Now that does make more sense. Per teddy bears don't go round and round a garden. Hmmm, interesting he didn't delete a useless rhyme from his main frame, but truly refused to know anything from the solar system. Although that does stick to canon, his lack of knowledge of the solar system & extensive knowledge of gardening, per chemical compounds & things, flowers grass & dirt & stuff could come in handy.

Thewords are: "Round and round the garden like a teddy bear

"One step, two step"

"Tickle you under there."

This is hilarious ... from the perspective of Sherlock retaining the words to the silly nursery rhyme ... and a vision of him as a child with a teddy bear ... presumably not following the paths of the stars in the sky !  I think I've watched too much television, though, 'cause many of the rhymes are strangely disturbing ... it must be kind of a "looking for the worst" thing.   And, I really have to laugh, Jesskayding, at the thought of being "cuddly" !     That's why the teddy bear is perfect !  ;)

Thx Fox, but I think I'll just stay with my little spectacled fox ^_^

Your little spectacled fox is great. I like him already. Where did you find him? Or did you create him yourself? (Is it a he? I just kind of assumed it was...)

My picture is just some random photo from the world wide web. I wanted an old dog that looked sufficiently like the description of Toby in "The Sign of the Four", and this one appealed to me, so I went with it. Besides, I love dogs, and old animals in general. I'm more likely to squeal over a pet with grey hairs around its nose and a limp than something not yet grown up.

I made him myself, but google provided me with his model:

I'd consider him a "he" though I'm a she; somehow for me animals are in most cases male until I found out they aren't  :)

 Yeah, I know what you mean. For me, it depends on the kind of animal - some I tend to think of as male and some as female.

Toby, that's another reason I thought you were older. That avatar of yours looks like a really wise dog. Have you ever seen the Never Ending Story.... Ah ah ah ah ah. Anyways I hear the voice of the flying dragon dog, with all of your post. The voice is masculine, even though I know you're a chick.

Oh, I love Fuchur, too! My family used to call our old dog (a white Golden Retriever) Fuchur.

No, I never saw the film, but I read all of Michael Ende's books (hey, growing up in Germany, you can't really avoid that), and I loved Fuchur in the novel, so I feel very, very flattered.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I am neither wise nor do I have a manly voice in real life. Quite the contrary. I sound very girlish, high and, when excited, also shrill, and I have a slight lisp. People who only hear me usually think I'm about ten. I once had my voice analyzed by a speech and vocal chords expert at uni, because he wanted to demonstrate the equipment to somebody, and it turned out my voice is pathological in some way I didn't quite understand. (I think it was science speak for "high squeaky annoying").

My voice is nasally and my sister's voice came back as square when she did some sort of voice test at our state fair a number of years ago & I had a friend who reminded me of a child when I heard her speak, it doesn't help that she is an elementary school teacher.

Hey, my user name is this shaman guy from a great British TV programmer that has (unfortunately) ended now called The mighty Boosh. I loved the character and also it's my name on Reddit so I just like to carry it on. If anyone else is a fan of the show then I'd love to talk to you (or just generally talk, but fans are fairly rare so it's always good to find someone).

My avatar is the Lenny Face (aka: deg deg) because, well, isn't he wonderful?

Welcome to the Sherlock Forum, naboo. I'm sure you'll find all kind of cross over fans here. I'm never heard of the program you mentioned but Hey, There are all sorts here.

Hello, naboo -- welcome to Sherlock Forum!  :welcome:

I think you're very logical to use the same screen name on multiple sites.  Goodness knows how people with a different name for everything can keep them all straight.  (As you might guess, I'm Carol the Dabbler everywhere.)

My username is kind of my real name, it's the way my name IRL is prononced. ( But nobody prononce it the same way, so I like it)

My profil picture is a montage that I've done based on a photo of the galaxie and me. I was so drunk that night and we were outside and I just lied down on the floor of the St Marc Plaza, it was like 4/5 AM and my best friend that a picture and I like this picture so I've "remixed" it a bit.

I don't even know I'm here telling you this.

Hello, Adeleeh -- welcome to Sherlock Forum!  :welcome:

I'm still not sure how to pronounce your name, but then I'm not all that certain about a number of names here.  Yours is distinctive and easy to remember, and that's what counts.  Your avatar is distinctive too -- a refreshing change from all the Sherlocks!
