Someone spotted this in the trailer. So it may be a bit more than this one scene. :D

What surprises me: how is it possible that we haven't know? The all knowing fandom. With spies even in Nepal. HOW? :wtf:

Dear Arcadia, look up the statistics and other variables: Timothy Dalton managed to hold things together at a very bad time for the Italian vegetable family (remember Dennis the Menace: You mean, they went and invented a new vegetable?) which held the rights. Without his very considerable acting ability and his understated talent of mocking the Bond basics, there would probably never have been a 50th Anniversary Bond film in the form of Skyfall, much less a future Bond of any type. He single-handely kept the franchise alive, but bailed out after the second, mindful of his image as a serious actor. There is material to be found both on the net and in books dedicated to James Bond which bear this out.

Personal opinion only: George Lazenby was the worst Bond ever, borne out by the fact that the late Mr Broccoli went back to Sean Connery and offered him an astronomical price to reprise the role, as I have already stated.

I've been wondering that too but I suspect because it was all done in a studio where the spies fans don't have access.

This is soooo hilarious/ridiculous/scary  :picard:

I saw something similar last night but decided not to post it because it just seems so ridiculous to me -- Benedict Cumberbatch, of all people! I can think of several people (let's start with certain politicians) who need their "attentions" far more .....

Romcom, no! How many hearts he needs to break? XD Unless they make a really good one, Romcom is just too predictable.

I agree most modern romcoms are, to me, just a slight step above pure smut ... but I think he'd be awesome in something sweet but funny like About a Boy, or maybe something sharper like The Philadelphia Story. If anyone's even capable of writing something that witty anymore.

Re not knowing: but there are still news about celebrities appearing at certain places and people making deductions... but maybe he was traveling to the studio in his costume already and nobody recognized him. :D

Re. the petition: mind you, nobody have seen the movie yet. And...

If the producers and screenwriters of Zoolander wanted to provide social commentary on the presence of trans/androgyne individuals in the fashion industry,..

It's like expecting MrBean to provide social commentary on the meaning of life.

Everyone in Zoolander was ridiculed, and it seems to be the same with Z2.

The scary thing is - people actually sign this trash.

I wouldn't like to be a person who has to deal with such petitions. It's no wonder the authorities have no time to do their actual job.

If BC's spoofing anything in that, it's his own image, I suspect. Ah, well, I don't think they'll get much traction ... they might have a point but they picked the wrong target, imho.

Agreed.  It's a complete waste of time.  The question posed seemed valid to me and not a complete slap to the face as the petition poses.  People need to find something better to do with their time.

Actually there are a lot of decent ones, I like Nothing Hill, and Love Actually if that's considered romcom. And the Terminal.

pssst.. honest reason, I don't want to be smitten more than I already have. I am not a teenager at all and all this Sherlock's obsession is already kind of embarassing.. :P .. don't tell anyone

Well now... if he decided to act in a new production of Thomas Mann's Death in Venice, would y'all be so laid-back and complacent as you seem to be over the cameo?

Never having been a fan of Ben Stiller's, I shall give this latest venture a miss, BC cameo or not. However, the minority petition is legitimate in its phrasing, since he's portraying something he may never be.

Near as I can tell, the only people it's still "correct" to ridicule are blondes.  :P

Hey! No fair! :P (Too bad we don't have a "blonde" emotie).

Please note that I put the word "correct" in quotes there.  I am in fact a blonde myself (and in recent years have been getting blonder every day!).

What I meant was, ethnic jokes have fallen into disrepute, as have jokes with just about any other subset of humanity as the target.  But around here, at least, one still hears "dumb blonde" jokes without even an apologetic preface.  My cousin even emails them to me -- making me wonder if anyone knows a "dumb redhead" joke so I can retaliate!

Um... Is this the wrong time to admit that I tell "dumb blonde" jokes? (But seriously, nobody is at any real disadvantage for being blonde, are they? If so, my apologies. I just figure that because I have blonde hair, I'm "allowed" to make fun of the stereotypes that go with it. And some of those jokes are just funny.)

Some Polish jokes are just funny, too.  For instance, I once saw a bumper sticker that said "Honk if I'm Polish," which really tickles my funny bone, so I do tell that one every now and then.

I think that many times, the dividing line between offensive and inoffensive jokes depends not so much on the joke as it does on who's telling it (as you imply) and also who's hearing it.  If I told some virulently anti-Polish person about that bumper sticker, I could be helping to reinforce their prejudice by implying (in their view) that I shared it.  But with most of the people I know, I suspect it comes across more as a parody of Polish jokes.

Was just looking for better pics of Ben's cameo and found something...
Well, can anybody tell me how on Earth we were able to miss THIS?

It's a typical DMail article with a lot of pics, it seems that a pap was following him around the city.

The Imitation Game!
Benedict Cumberbatch blends into the crowds as he plays tourist in Rome... before heading to set to shoot a cameo for Zoolander 2

The Zoolander 2 set has welcomed a long line of stars in recent weeks, and on Thursday another Hollywood favourite arrived in Rome to shoot his cameo. Benedict Cumberbatch was spotted enjoying some sightseeing in the beautiful city before heading to set to film his part in Ben Stiller's hugely anticipated sequel. The 38-year-old actor left his pregnant wife Sophie at home for his trip to Italy, where he was joined by a friend as he checked out the tourist hotspots.

The only reason could be that we were all too absorbed with the Sherlocked Con.
Then, if you see the date of the article, Ben must have arrived at the con directly from making that cameo. Oh my.

Careful, Ducky... you are entering a mine field... :P

Hmm... I don't get the joke. Maybe because I'm only half-Polish... :wtf:

Yup, I am tiptoeing cautiously!

OK, I probably need to explain "Honk if..." bumper stickers as well as generic Polish jokes.

American Polish jokes tend to imply that Polish-Americans are dim-witted and/or uncultured.  For fairly obvious reasons, they are generally considered impolite.

Here in the US, one often sees bumper stickers of the form "Honk if you [whatever]" (presumably including "Honk if you're Polish").  That's become such a well-known genre that nowadays many "Honk if..." bumper stickers are actually parodies (like several at that link and this one as well). "Honk if I'm Polish" clearly belongs in the "parody" category (with the joke, of course, being that it says "Honk if I'm Polish" -- and how the heck would we know?).  I kinda think it's sufficiently exaggerated to constitute a Polish-joke parody as well.

I don't think we did miss it,  because I remember those pictures. I suspect we just forgot it.

Yep, here we go.

Starting to deleting things, huh? :D

Probably forgotten, because it all looked just too "regular/normal/boring". A cameo in Zoolander could be just everything. Even BC as BC himself.

And I have an excuse. I was in London.

I can imagine him walking around the Con, giggling internally about all that people who didn't know.

What would have happened if any pictures of said cameo leaked to the public during Sherlocked?

Dear Arcadia, the main character in the novel falls for and entices a Polish (no jokes in this one) aristocratic youth in ways reminiscent of Oscar Wilde, The Imitation Game and same-sex variations of Atonement. There is ma petite Aurelie, who is an avowed Johnlocker in this forum, but how would the majority of the (mostly) female active members feel then? It's OK if he goes for Bond, but if not? Will there be petitions started in the forum then, about cisgender actors not allowed to play clearly gay characters?

The only petition I want to sign in this forum is Unlimited Cake Eating Frenzy on Mondays, to support Mycroft and F his diet.

The other one comes to mind is more episodes of Sherlock. But then again, more means less quality or replacement of BC and MF because of scheduling. So no. no. NO!

Beside the Monday cake eating, I conclude my life in this forum is pretty much perfect. :P
