They're all honorary titles that can be written after a person's name (the same way you'd write an academic degree).

 

But so far this appears to be a rumor -- there may or may not be any truth to it.

Apparently Ben and Sophie flew to Miami on Dec. 26, but that may have been a plane change for some place else.  Regardless, they are spending these few days before he has to be back for Sherlock filming (YAY!!!) in warmer climates.

At this point, it's basically a rumor (though some rumors turn out to be true, of course).  The official Honours list is to be published on New Year's Eve, with the actual ceremony a month later.

 

 

Apparently this was just a rumor.  You can see the full list of honors here.  (Of course it's possible that he was offered some honor and declined it, but people rarely do that.)

Well, also Palm Springs is only 100 miles from Los Angeles, so it's possible he will be out here for the TIG screening and Q&A st the Screen Actor's Guild tomorrow, Jan, 4.  And he's got Sophie with him, likely.  

 

Although SH starts shooting Jan. 6, he may not be on the call sheets for that day, so it's possible that he could do the Newport Beach thing on Jan. 5 if he felt so inclined.

I am quite sure that Hartswood is bending over backwards to accommodate him for this awards season.  Thankfully the Oscars will happen after this episode of SH is already in the can.

Saw Benedict give the acceptance speech for the Ensemble Award.  Hopefully it'll be up on YouTube soon as it kept buffering.  But he was brilliant complete with impersonations of at least some of those who weren't there.

Apparently the Oscar nominations will be announced in less than 2 weeks, on the 15th.

If you have Epix (in the US) premium channel Benedict is on the Hollywood Sessions right now.

Just found out he will be on Ellen on Jan 14... don't know if it was taped earlier or if it will be live, but if it's live, then it means that he plans to be in LA for the Critic's Choice awards... which means they are REALLY shooting around his awards schedule.
