Oh Besley was asking about the pocket watch not the one eye spectacle. Ha!  hay didn't Sherlock sport  a pocket watch in SO3, he had a pen on a chain. British weddings are serious. That wasn't a rich persons wedding. I've never seen such high society tuxedos in my life.  :o

This should show Sherlock's watch  chain at the reception. You may have to click on the image to enlarge it.

Additionally, I did acquire a pocket watch depicting a hunting scene, which I thought quite apt, though needing to replace the broken watch-chain.

Was Sherlock known to have a pocket watch in his possession in all depictions of him on screen ?

The original Holmes was forever checking the time, so I can't imagine that he didn't have some sort of portable timepiece -- and according to Wikipedia, a wristwatch was considered a lady's accessory until about the turn of the twentieth century, when military use began to make it popular with men as well.  So I think it's safe to assume that Holmes carried a pocket watch, though I don't offhand think of any specific references.

However, we do know for sure that the original Watson carried a pocket watch, because Holmes "deduced" it in The Sign of the Four -- in a scene that was updated for "A Study in Pink" by having Sherlock make the same deductions about John's cell phone.

I must confess that I had my sister, who loves to knit, make be a scarf as close in color to Sherlock's as I could get it.

Oh so you want for an acting project or are you planning on going out in 18th century garb. If wearing out, where would you wear it?

Women, if they were in day or evening dress, wore their watches pinned to their bodices. Or had a small watch pocket like a man's waistcoat, or carried them in a small purse called a reticules.  I may have a small watch pocket added to some of the items I'm having made. I would love to do a 1800's thing. I'm awfully short to play Sherlock but what the heck.

I have only met maybe three people that fit that bill. I doubt any of them would be interested in playing Watson to my Holmes. But if the opportunity arises, I''ll ask George. He does stage work.

I've not bought anything specifically because a character wears it, but I will say that even last year, before I started watching the show, I noticed a greater prevalence of men wearing their scarves tied in the "European" knot and thought it was sexy as hell.  So, the hubby will have to indulge me in that this coming winter.

For me, I blush to say, but I've had my Irene Adler moments dress-wise (not "battle dress" in public, of course....), and generally I can pull it off.  So this may be a good time to remind myself to channel my inner Irene once in a while.  A nice pair of black stiletto Louboutins would not go amiss either....

I've never bought anything because a character/actor wore it.  However, I have seen the European knot for several years and didn't know what it was called until watching Sherlock this year. I never bothered researching it earlier and only happened upon it by chance this year.

What's to blush for? Irene's wardrobe, from what we've seen, is pretty classy. I don't exactly go for that lacy thing she wears in the short scene where we see her at work, but the other outfits are great, if you ask me. Especially that white dress, that looks wonderful on her.

*Sigh* I could never get away with anything remotely like that (couldn't afford it, either). I'd wear a lot of Mrs Hudson's things, though, if I could get them - or Molly's. I do not know what people have against Molly's style of dress. I think most of her things look nice. Just goes to show... something. That I have no taste, I guess.

I think some people's objection to Molly's outfits is that they don't flatter her; too baggy, too drab, whatever. I know I've been advised many times to "dress for success". I suppose that's good advice as far as it goes, but mostly I resent the idea that looks matter more than competence. Maybe Molly feels something the same?

From the person who wears jeans and a t-shirt 7 days a week most weeks of the year, it is possible to have the clothes like Mrs. Hudson or Molly and still have it flatter your figure.  It's a matter of having the right size and color as well as wearing it correctly, tucked in or untucked (for the tops) and with the correct accessories.  For example, my body type prevents me from wearing an adult medium shirt (or smaller) even if I were within a healthy weight and body fat percentage range.  It would be too form fitting in 1 area and not look good on me.

And in Molly's case, add "correctly buttoned."  ;)

OMG, she misbuttons them? I never noticed that (I miss so much when I watch! :( ) Poor Molly, so unselfconscious that she's self-conscious about it.

Okay, I couldn't resist: On this grey, rainy Sunday, lying in bed with the remains of a bad migraine and a big mug of tea, I "had to" dig up pictures of Molly from each episode and take a closer look at her clothes:

In series 1, we never see her without her white coat. And okay, that cardigan with the cherries is probably up to debate, but I'd certainly wear it, and the buttons seem to be all in place.

While I think Molly looks just fine and lovely in her work clothes, she doesn't seem used to dressing up, and I do admit her "fancy" outfits are a little... well, you can just tell she's not being her usual self. They look believable, though. I can just see her choosing them.
