So choose two Main Characters to Die in Season 4: Sherlock & John are excluded from execution for obvious reasons.

1.) Least Devastating

2.) Would absolutely break your heart

For both Why?

Posted

1.) Molly would be the least devastating because I feel her role on the show is replaceable ( Sherlock has John to keep him balanced ). Would love the new lab person to have a more dangerous personality.

2.) My heart would break if Mycroft died. I love him, I feel that the sibling rivalry between he & Sherlock just cheers me up. I especially love when they gang deduct on John.

Nope.  I feel that each and every one of them is vital to the show's chemistry.  So I refuse to play -- so there!  :P

!. Donovan would be the least devastating to me, because she is always dismissing Sherlock as a freak and doesn't seem to appreciate that he is just different- not a good way to look at people if you are a police sergeant.

2. If Molly  died, I would be heartbroken. I ship Sherlolly, and even if it doesn't happen, I like  her dynamic with Sherlock, especially as she has grown more assertive. No hater replies, please- I respect all other ships, please respect mine.

Well, as far as I'm concerned there are only two main characters, all the rest are minor characters, and you've ruled out the two main characters, so I'll have to adopt Carol's answer! :D

Okay, if we're killing off minor characters:

1. Least devastating, Anderson, cuz he irritates the heck out of me.

2. Most heartbreaking, Lestrade, cuz he doesn't get enough respect as it is. Killing him off would just be the final discourtesy.

Technically that would be correct.

As for everyone else:

Least: Donovan or Anderson even though I do like their annoying personalities.

Most: Probably Mrs. Hudson as I really like her motherly ways & the fact that Benedict & Una have known each other for so long.

I don't want any of the characters to die but if I really had to choose...

Least: probably Donnovan or Anderson. I never really cared about either of them. And I always knew that Mary would have to die so although I really like her, I won't be shocked or terribly devastated when they kill her off. Or make her leave.

Most: Lestrade. Molly. Mrs Hudson. Mycroft. Sorry, I can't choose. I love them all.

Least: Anderson.

Most: I would say Mrs Hudson, but since England would fall if she was to leave Baker Street, I'm sure she's safe. So I'll say Mycroft (though Lestrade's death would be heartbreaking, too).

Least devastating death? Well, I won't say Anderson or Wiggins, because I simply wouldn't care. They're not even major characters for me. Hmmmm... apart from villains, I'd say Mycroft is welcome to pop off any time, as far as I'm concerned, although I probably would find I miss him once he's gone.

Most devastating? Sherlock and John are safe, I hope, but that would be the most devastating, yeah, of course. Aside from them? I think Molly. No, she may not be essential for any plot or any character dynamic. But I love her, in a way I don't even love Sherlock. Molly, for me, is a real person. I don't know why I feel that way, exactly, but there it is. If they harm a hair on Molly's head and do not let Sherlock go berserk over it and do something terrible to the culprit, I will throw stuff at my screen and write a furious fix-it fan fic.

I love how hard it is for you all to just mention one devastating character! LOVE It!!!

Hay Jana, turns out I'm more of a Sadist!

Getting out the whip: I said ONE devastating death!

Threats won't help you, Jess. I just can't choose one, sorry   :tongue3:

I really hope Moffat and Gatiss don't go into a killing spree :D but still, I often find myself wondering about crazy stuff like this, so I'll give it a go!

Among the regulars (Mary, Mycroft, Lestrade, Mrs. Hudson, Molly, Anderson and Donovan), I'd say:

1.) Least Devastating:  Anderson. His character was great in series 1 and 2, when he served, by contrast, to show how brilliant Sherlock is. And hearing Sherlock verbally slap him was always good entertainment. It was also fun to see his character development in series 3, but I'm afraid I don't see what else they can do with him. And both he and Donovan can be spared, although I'd still like to see some more of her interaction with Sherlock.

2.) Would absolutely break your heart:  I would say "everyone else", but if I have to pick one: Lestrade. I love his interactions with Sherlock and John - the three of them make a great team, and somehow he is a big part of the show. I think it has to do with the importance of Sherlock's work, and Lestrade not only provides him with cases, but works with him. I wish I could express it better... because Lestrade just brings a great dynamic to the team that is Sherlock and John, and he adds something down-to-earth that even John doesn't quite have. He is a real "bloke". I love that. He is probably the one I sympathise with the most besides the two main characters.

However, I'd also be heartbroken to lose Molly or Mrs. Hudson.

Uh oh. Isn't that exactly the response Moftiss would be looking for? Oh gawd, that clinches it; Molly's doomed!   Thanks a heap, T.o.b.y! XD

Wouldn't mind if they killed Sally Donovan, really. They don't show her enough for me to care about her.

But if anything, I mean ANYTHING ever happened to Molly, or Mrs. Hudson, or Lestrade, I will personally lead the Sherlockians to Moftiss's homes and riot.

Well Bendy get the troops together, I really think they're gonna kill one of those characters off. May even be dear old sweet Mrs. Hudson, people don't live forever you know.

Oooooo! What if they kill off like 3 main characters! Ouch!!! I don't even think I could take that... Oomph.

Oh, dear. I think we need something more cheerful. I know I do.

Watch this. So lovely! (My favorite part might just be 1:49 :naughty: I can't stop replaying that bit!)

I don't see why they would necessarily kill anybody off any time soon. They've got such a great cast, and the show is very character-based, so why ruin that? The only reason to write somebody's death in would be an actor leaving, but even then, you could make the character disappear without him or her having to die.

Okay, killing Mary would make a certain amount of sense, if they want to stick to the original story. But as I never tire of pointing out, even in the original, there is no proof that she actually died. And it would be terribly predictable. So I'm far from convinced they'll actually go there.

I'm absolutely not convinced, either, that anyone will die. Except maybe the villain, and even that is questionable. Eventually the villain probably dies. I wouldn't venture a guess about Mary's fate in the long run, but I think she is there for at least a few more episodes. Why else would anyone make her such a complex character in His Last Vow, if they don't intend to explore her further? But who knows with Mofftiss?
