Hello everyone and Guten Tag from Germany,

first things first..even though I think my english is not that bad...I'm afriad due to the lack of practise my posts won't be  flawless. I would be grateful if you could ignore this little inconvenience

Many years back i fell in love with crime shows and murder mythers. And after reding the old Sherlock Holmes Books from my mom and listening to the german audio plays I fell even more in love with Holmes and his dear friend Dr. Watson.

I might be a little bit to old (24) to be a hardcore fangirl, but after watching Benedict Cumberbatch :sherlock2:   and Martin Freeman :watson: in the BBC adaptation of my beloved characters, I just could not help myself anymore. :D

What to say about me?

Well, I already mentioned that I'm from Germany and that I'm a terrible fangirl, And not just of Sherlock, but also of many other Fandoms. I also have quite a little YouTube addiction. I read a lot (books...and well--- FanFictions) I used to write FanFictions myself, but now as a "grown up" I don't have enough time.

I just discovered this forum thanks to a little research on google. It looked realy nice and friendly.

Well, I don't know what else to say. When you have more questions, don't hasitate. :sherlock:

Greetings

NotMyDate :)

Oh..one thing I should admit

I do ship Johnlock...just a little bit...I'm not obssed and I will not cry when nothing happens, but I kind of like the idea :hugz:

Hello, NotMyDate -- welcome to Sherlock Forum!  :welcome:

I suppose you might want to avoid squee-ing in public, but there's no need to curtail your umm, enthusiasm due to your advancing years.  I'm more than twice your age, generally considered sane in real life, and well, here I am!

:welcome: to the forum NotMyDate   I'm 36 and I fangirl hard for Sherlock.  Don't worry about your English.  We have several non-native English speakers including a few from Germany on here.  We can usually figure out what is being said and can always ask if we are really confused.

Hey, I could be considered too young for Sherlock, depending on how crazy someone is about blood violence and touchy subjects and stuff. Welcome to the forum, NotMyDate!

Welcome, NotMyDate! Your English looks fine to me! Welcome to the insanity.

Welcome! Wow, it seems as if Sherlock has hit Germany for good, huh? Lots of my countrymen and -women showing up around here lately. Is this due to ARD or the internet? Or both...?

Anyway, make yourself at home. Don't worry about your English one bit. I don't think anybody cares about mistakes. If you find you want to express something in English that you've thought in German and don't quite know how, you can ask me, if you like - I've had to do a lot of amateur translating between those two languages, and while I often don't know a good solution, I enjoy linguistic problems...

And if you think you're too old to be a fangirl - what shall I say? I've left my twenties behind, and I never was a real fan of anything before this series came along. I think it gets more fun the older I grow. I find myself becoming more and more relaxed about making a spectacle of myself.

Hello, NotMyDate and welcome!

I believe there is no such thing as "too old for a fangirl" and here you can "fangirl" all around!

This really is a nice and friendly forum, I'm sure you will fit in perfectly.

All I have to say to that (or any other wishful thinking regarding any other characters) is:

WORD!  20-something sittything would never have dared to be such an idiotic fangirl.  Now I just don't care, I do what I want.

And welcome to the forum, NotMyDate!    :)

wow thanks for the nice welcome. I'm sure I will enjoy my time here. Even though I will be one of the more quiet users...

That is definitely the internets fault. And in my case the fault if YouTube. I've seen a lot of fanvideos and got curios. And now I'm here.

Welcome to the insanity, NotMyDate!  Happy to have you here!

Totally agree with the above.  A younger Boton was much too concerned that someone might caller her a nerd, so she hid her Star Trek and Star Wars obsession.  "Modern" Boton lets her fangirl flag fly, and was insanely pleased this Christmas to hear someone broach a Dr. Who and Sherlock discussion with, "If you're the kind of nerd I think you are...."

Thanks goodness "nerd" is (supposedly) no longer derogatory!

And I simply went ahead and was a nerd. There was a group of us. It was awesome.

I'm actually more reticent about it now than when I was younger, because of certain people I need to interact with from time to time. My friends ain't fooled, though!

Let me add my (belated) welcome to the forum, NotMyDate!

And yeah, being an adult nerd is a huge improvement over the teenage version in my experience as well. What other people think of your fangirling matters a lot less, and your parents no longer have a say or even know that you ordered yet another Special Edition DVD of your latest obsession .
