*grins* Travian the game that take over your life is based on the Settlers of Catan's game mechanics. Of course part of its allure is the gamer community.

Oh lord, nononono, Sherlock's already taken over too much of my life, I don't need another addiction!!!! Help!

Haha are we all introverts? That is so funny. And here we are, sitting behind our computers, chatting all day! :)

For most part yes. We had an extrovert on here but she hasn't been on in months.

 She must be too busy having a social life!

I think that introverted people are generally more likely to immerse themselves in a fictional universe, and that Sherlock has a special appeal for us. Also, I don't know about you guys, but I feel much more comfortable communicating with people in writing than face to face or over the phone. Like Sherlock I "prefer to text" (or e-mail), even with my close family and friends.

I get annoyed when people call me rather than texting.

I don't mind when people call me if there's a reason. I feel the same about calling as I do about texting: there'd better be a point. I can't just 'chat'. Not even via text.

Well, at least I'm in the company of my fellow introverts here. I'm actually at a party right now, huddled off to the side with my glass of wine.

I disabled the text feature on my phone. :p But prefer emails to phone calls, because I can control the time I spend with them.

I hate emails. My mother sends me emails, I don't respond, and then she leaves me voicemails asking if I'm dead. Lol

I don't mind people calling me but I really don't like to make phone calls. I'll gladly text or email first.

You're own mother!!!! Serves you right! :D

She should text me if she wants a response! ;)

I actually don't mind having face to face interaction with very close friends and family, but the number of them that I can stand is very limited.

There was a 'not very close' friend who called me everyday for chatting, about almost nothing(!) or about herself. I was a kinder person back then , so I tried to repel her politely or not taking her call but she wasn't discouraged.

Until one day she asked me,"Why am I the one who always call you? Why you never call me?"

Without any sarcasm, my exact answer was,"I hardly call people."

Apparently she was really offended by that (I really still wonder why) as reported to me by a mutual friend.

The calls stopped :) but it took another year and me moving to another country to be free of meet up invitations etc.

Sometimes I think I should be more grateful being considered as friend to that extent, but.. maybe not.

I hope it doesn't come back and bite me in the ass, but can't help getting more and more selective with people I choose to hang out with.

People who don't signal before they turn.

I second that. How hard could it be..it gets really dangerous when I am riding and a car just switch to my lane without signal.

Now I think I have a decent way of revenge, I modified my bike horn with a truck's horn, and watch those inconsiderate drivers jump whenever there is a need to.

IMO, friendship are two way street, both parties must enjoy it and compromises are unavoidable for the sake of comfort. Build your networks for whatever purpose you might have with eye to the future but who have privileged access to your real-self is entirely your choice. There is price to pay for every decision in life and it depends on you to choose between the available options.

Dear VanBurenSupernova,

Here's my tuppence-worth of contribution:

1) Favourite board game of all times Stratego, but did play Monopoly in all its versions!

2) Boltholes: Home sweet home! I can lock all the world's troubles outside and relax in my favourite 50s vintage armchair ( not a LeCorbusier one ^_^)

3) Other hobbies: reading, music and films.

4) Pet peeves: ungrammatical sentences and texts, but I think we had a dust-up over that already! If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing well!

5) Unpopular opinion: the Granada Sherlock Holmes series with Jeremy Brett still outranks, outperforms and outdistances the pale revisionist attempt we are all so fond of discussing.

6) Favourite authors include Jane Austen, Benjamin Disraeli, ACD, W.S. Hornung, P.D. James, Margery Allingham, John Mortimer.

Keep well!

Don't worry Inge,

I didn't waste another second dwelling on that once I'm certain other members are okay with my limitation.

You might have noticed my pet peeves too.

Thanks for your tuppance. It's all well.

1. Favorite board game

None. Board games include people.

2. Bolt holes and do you need them.

My head. My flat. My garden (sometimes)

I practically live in my bolt holes and I need a really good reason for crawling out. Compared to mine, Sherlocks social life - even before John - looks like an example for "normal".

3. Other hobbies

Designing stuff for Asian Ball Jointed Dolls. At least I hope I will be able to go back to my projects after that whole Sherlock thing finally gives free some parts of my brain again. Photography. DIY-ing.

4. Pet peeves
People who are constantly making noise.

5. Unpopular opinion

I subtitute Scrabble with Word With Friends. Instead of friends, I play with strangers. Most of them don't try to talk or interact which is nice.

I just cannot get attracted to the idea of competition.

 Understand.

For me. I always need something to keep me busy.

Although now it's kind of neglected because I have a forum to visit. :)

Neither can I! I hate it and I avoid competitive situations whenever I can.

Oh man, I live for competition. I mostly compete against myself. I always want to do better than last time.

It's funny; I've never really considered board games as socializing. But then the games I play tend to require too much concentration for there to be much chatter.

1. Favorite board game

Scrabble, Republic of Rome (strategy game), chess. Cluedo as well, of course! ;)

2. Bolt holes and do you need them.

Anywhere quiet, airy and without people. I need tons of alone time and I dislike prolonged noise so yes, I need them!

3. Other hobbies

Since reading won't count, although literature is my main passion: films, music and dancing, animals, mythology, ancient history, physics (amateur, though), philosophy, travelling.

4. Pet peeves

People who lack courtesy and/or empathy. People who need to be the centre of attention. Cruelty and pettiness.

5. Unpopular opinion

I think Lost and Breaking Bad are average series at best. Don't hate me, please :P
