Yah I had been slacking in answering but can't say you guys have been productive either :p.

Yes, hole is functional.

You use one at a time.

why don't you have one if it's so useful?

It is quite useful, not so useful. As why I don't have one:

1. I didn't know about this product until I stumbled on that recently.

2. I didn't need it in most occasions. Could use it some times, but most time I could do very well without because of some reasons.

3. Now I have more reasons not to need it.

I swear there are a lot of clues in my answer. :)

Is it something to prevent you stumbling? :p

Do you put a handle in the hole, then use it like a club?

Or stick it under a tire to keep your bike from rolling downhill? In which case I don't see the point of the hole....

Posted

Not for putting handle.

Not to prevent stumbling or keep the bike from rolling, but the function is actually quite similar to that, only different. :p

The similarity is the concept to 'keep'.

Posted

Hmm, we've already established it's not for keeping time.....

Stick some things in it to keep them together? Like a bouquet?

Run wires through it to keep them from tangling?

Posted

Not those.

Here is nice clue: the one that does the 'keeping' is not the hole.

Okay, I need another look at these things...

Do you use it to keep something together? Or to keep something away? Or to keep something from happening? Or is it something you find in a castle keep? (D***ed English language...)

Posted

:D

Keep something from happening. To be more precise, keep something on its place.

Posted

But it's not to keep your bike from rolling down a hill.

Keep a car from rolling off a ferry? (They use things a little bit like that on the ferry where I go in the summer.)

I guess you could use it to keep a door from swinging shut, but it seems a bit like overkill.

Ah ... do you tie a rope through the hole?

Posted

You don't tie a rope through the hole but again, the hole is important.

Not for bike, car or door.

Clue: the keeping something in its place concept can be done by other ways too. This thing just gives an alternative way that is not very necessary, not a must have, but could be handy.

Is it a bookmark? :p

Does anything get put in the hole? Fingers, even?

Someone went to a lot of trouble to make all those things diamond-shaped, so I keep thinking the shape has to be important. But all it reminds me of is something like a door stop. :(

Uhmmmmm......

Actually.... you are not exactly correct, but I couldn't work out a way that you wouldn't throw me something when you found out what it is if I'd said you are wrong. (I'm sure I butchered some if-clause here). But you are just quarter of step away and the keywords, book and finger, are spot-on.

It is not a bookmark but this thing hold pages when you are reading, so yes, finger gets into the hole.

Reason why I said I didn't have much use for it, because although I do have some new books, most of my books are second hand so the pages had been opened well that I don't need this. And since I had kindle as gift, I don't have many physical books anymore.

Wish I had it for new books though, it looks nice enough to open the book enough without spoiling it.

Here are some nicer images.

Good job..! Your turn. Break a leg.

What the .... the bookmark thing was supposed to be a joke! Dang, I almost asked how big they were, I didn't think they were that small!! For pity's sake. No, I don't think I was ever guessing that's what they were for. But I agree they look somewhat useful. Good grief.

Maybe I'll look for something later, right now I've got too many deadlines bearing down on me. :(

So am I it appears, but I found something, can you guess it?4d25ad9bec2c77bdabd0537120d611ea.jpg

It looks like a candied pecan.

Posted

Is it wood?

I think I see some wood textures. It looks like it has some polishing finish with multiple layers on different application phase or it is already aged.

Posted

Me? I'm slacking off? You're the one who hasn't been seen around here for days!

Is it a view from really, really high up of animals travelling across a desolate landscape? Some of the white dots look kind of fluffy.

Posted

It's not pecan, nor wood or a landscape

Posted

Is it something edible? I agree that the white stuff looks like sugar.

Posted

Is it a dessert? Cake or a baked pudding maybe?

Posted

I'm torn between whether that's sugar, salt or just a sort of glaze we're seeing. Since Toby's going for the sweets, I'll guess ... crusty bread?

Posted

Looks like some sort of roasted almond now that I'm looking at it better.
