I am Lalarun from Germany and new here, so I just wanted to introduce myself.

I discovered Sherlock rather late (I think it was last year). I had only watched a few bits of The Great Game on TV then. Later I watched all the episodes and really liked it. In the meantime I have re-watched all the episodes (not only in the German dubbed version but of course also the "normal" one with the original voices which I prefer now that I know it) many times and now I am here.

The show also brought me into reading the original Sherlock Holmes stories. I only started with that and haven't already read all of them.

P.S.: I am sorry for my mistakes regarding the English language, just feel free to correct me. It will help me to learn and improve my English.

Hello Lalarun and welcome to the forum!

Your English sounds perfectly fine to me, besides, we got people from all over the world here on the forum - including a couple Germans and me, the lone Austrian *sniff*.

Hi, Lalarun -- welcome to Sherlock Forum!  :welcome:  You've come to the right place to discuss both the Sherlock episodes and the original Holmes stories.  So please feel free to jump right into the conversations!

Hello and welcome here!  There are several of us here who came to discover the show late, but we at least had the advantage of being able to see all the episodes and not have to endure the 2-year breaks (until now!!!).

Your English is fine.  Don't worry.

Hi Lalarun and welcome.

English is technically my third language and my posts are probably full with grammatical errors all the time, but majority of members here are very understanding and nice about it.

Like mentioned, this is place to unite people around the world who share a thing in common; that we keep wanting to talk about Sherlock in level and capacity that are not shared by people around us in real life. At least I speak for myself. :P

Anyway, hop in!

Hey there! Welcome! Don't worry about your English, I am sure we can all understand you, and if anything is unclear, we'll just ask. This is a place we come to for fun, nobody should feel pressured.

Hi! I'm new too in this forum and I'm from Italy :) We have a lot of things in common! I started watching Sherlock Holmes tv series and films last year and I'm reading the book by Conan Doyle, so I've not finished it yet, just like you :)

I hope you'll enjoy this forum (for the moment I'm having a lot of fun) and...welcome!!

Yes, that was an advantage, but I guess it also might have made it a bit less special or something like this. I mean, others had to wait so long and I just watched the episodes so fast compared to that. After the fall I already knew that I had the chance to continue instantly and I think that's a huge difference to having to wait so long.

Wow, what are the other languages you speak?

Thank you and welcome, too!

Which stories have you already read?

Aww. :patpatpat:

I just made the name up because of the sound. I was playing with syllables and I liked it too.

Poor Caya, you have to find other Sherlockians in Austria to join us. ;)

Thanks :) I've read almost all the stories, I have to finish the ones of Sherlock's return (I don't know how the title is in English because I'm reading it in italian) :)

Do you mean the story that takes place several years after Holmes's encounter with Moriarty at The Reichenbach Falls, where

Holmes shows up alive and nearly scares Watson to death?

In English that's "The Empty House."  And there's also a book of stories called The Return of Sherlock Holmes (which includes "The Empty House").  In either case, what's the Italian title?

Posted

That's it! The return of Sherlock Holmes! In Italian the title is "Il ritorno di Sherlock Holmes", the perfect translation of the English title :)

Well, that was easy!  :D

Is the title of "The Empty House" also a literal translation?

Posted

Ahaha, yes, it is! So I think that all the italian titles are the literal translation of the English ones :)
