I am boringly right-handed, but I drive mostly with my left hand, although that may have something to do with the way the car controls are configured. (Need my right to keep adjusting the volume on the stereo, don't you know. ) I was taught to drive with both hands. But even when my right hand doesn't have anything else to do, my left is clearly my dominant driving hand. Can't think of anything else it's dominant in, though.

I guess I'm the most boring right-handed. I don't recall anything I prefer to do with my left hand, maybe carrying stuff, like grocery or shopping bag? But then again I always swing them around (sometimes 360 :P) and move them around; right, left, back or let it hang on my head. It's not unusual that I have one big lump of vanilla puff when I actually buy four of them. (I really dislike holding things, so hardly buy/bring more than what my backpack/sling can't handle. And it's fun!)

Swinging things around is an advantage to me; I remember them so I don't leave them behind, and nobody wants me to hold their stuffs. :P I always travel compact, so everything is contained and my hands are free. However, sometimes my travelling companions have too many hand carriers, and when they are older than me, or overwhelmed, as much as I dislike it I help them, and they try not to let me feel obligated to help them or pointblank freaking out with my offer.

...,(Need my right to keep adjusting the volume on the stereo, don't you know.

You know what.. :D I was thinking, how uncomfortable is that! Then I realized you drive on the right side.

You guys have been driving on the wrong side forever XD

Here is a lighter one.

Gottle of geer is the way a novice ventriloquist saying bottle of beer.

B is considered difficult to pronounce without moving lips.

OMG, someone else who hates carrying things in their hands. I really really hate it! And constantly drop whatever I'm carrying. And finding a purse with shoulder straps these days is next to impossible .... gaah.gif

Yes, we pronounce the language the wrong way, we spell it the wrong way, we drive on the wrong side of the road ... so sue us!

Yesss! That's why I don't understand lady's handbag. Impractical junk. (Look around cautiously remembering that this forum is full of ladies..:p)

I can't. Because only Americans love to sue...

Eh eh eh.. have I gone overboard? I have weak PC, and worse if it's international. Peace. :p

Apparently not all Lady Justice are blindfolded.

Lady Justice in Old Bailey court is not blindfolded, because Lady Justice is originally not blindfolded until well into end of 15th century and because her maidenly form is supposed to guarantee her impartiality which renders the blindfold redundant.

"Maidenly form." For some reason that made me laugh.

I'm wondering if we as Americans actually pronounce things wrong or if it's the Brits. Both sides of the pond used to be rhotic English pronunciations but some Brits who were new to being wealthy changed that sometime after the revolutionary war. (Saw an article somewhere about that and couldn't tell you if it was on here or in social media).

As for driving, the US uses the word right to also mean correct so we drive on the right side of the road which is the correct side. By default then that would make the left side the wrong side of the road. ;)

You're thinking maybe of an old bra commercial?

I dreamed I was Irene Adler in my Maidenform corset.

No, I think I just found "maidenly form" amusingly quaint. But your take is even funnier!

Not my fault, it's direct quote :p. I was wondering about that too, thought it's common term. XD

I knew this is going to be used to fire back. :D

Maneki-neko, beckoning cat or Fortune Cat is originated from Japan. Due to its popularity in Chinese community it's frequently mistaken for its origin. (Ehm!)

It comes with different colors and every color represents different meaning.

The one in TBB is golden, means wealth and properity.

The shopkeeper is persuading John to buy one for his wife, she should offer pink/red cat, which means success in love and relationships.

Uh-oh. I'm almost afraid to ask, but mine's purple ... what does purple mean?

And yes, I knew it was Japanese. What do I win? :d

I used to have a real live beckoning cat. Honest to God, she would sit just like that, and I wish I'd been able to get a photo.

I had taken her in when a friend moved from a farm to an apartment. (The friend is one-quarter Japanese, but the cat came from a shelter in upstate New York, so she's presumably not of Asian ancestry.)

Anyhow, she was a white cat -- not a single dark hair anywhere.

I love those Lucky Cats. Helga recently broke mine because she was too curious about it. I hope that does not mean bad luck now...

I think you can never go wrong with lucky cat, whatever color. But I went back and checked, apparently purple is not too common, after scouring for a bit, I only had three sources that say purple means prosperity, wealth, opportunity, health, longevity. Take your pick. :p

So..what do I get?

Free opportunity to participate in perfume tasting program. Tasting is not a typo, I repeat, tasting, not testing. No further price for guessing the sponsor.

Hey, that's cute. My cat did that once or twice but just to knock the food out of my hand.

:D hopefully not.

But I side with Helga. Cat is a thread to rabbit, it's a must for them to annihilate them all..obviously.

Even this pic made it into the show :D

Mahahahhaha.... are you referring to this? :lol5:

Love this scene a lot, that's how I sit also, minus the shoes. Take off those dirty shoes!

Ever wondered how much Sebastian offers Sherlock in total?

I found two numbers, of very different in amount.

But it makes sense because there are supposedly two cheques, an advance cheque and the five-figure one when the case is solved.

From Ariane DeVere:

SEBASTIAN: There’s a hole in our security. Find it and we’ll pay you – five figures.

(He reaches into the breast pocket of his jacket and takes out a cheque.)

SEBASTIAN: This is an advance. Tell me how he got in, there’s a bigger one on its way.

SHERLOCK: I don’t need an incentive, Sebastian.

(He walks away. John watches him go, then turns to Sebastian.)

JOHN: He’s, uh, he’s kidding you, obviously.

(He holds out his hand.)

JOHN: Sh-shall I look after that for him?

(Sebastian hands him the cheque.)

JOHN: Thanks.

(He looks at the figure on the cheque and shakes his head in disbelief that this is only the advance.)

This could be the advance:

And this is the five-figure one.

Yep-P.

However, in a deleted scene, John actually donates it away for Soo Lin. (Come on John, you gotta feed Sherlock.

Unless John happens to have more than one largish check in his wallet that night, General Shan tells us the exact amount of Sebastian's advance:

"A cheque for five thousand pounds made out in the name of Mr. Sherlock Holmes."

So, I'm covered then. Yay!

You get the same thing I got for knowing the cats were Japanese in origin.

Yes. And I guessed right! (I must have read it somewhere... smile: )

@Carol..Waks... those amount actually never registered in my mind when I watched. I blame General Shan.

@Arcadia, regifting is not good..Not good!

@J.P :D

Here is another:

The clear weather and full moon allowed the Luftwaffe (generic German term for air force) to film the Coventry attack.

These films were used as propaganda by Nazi Germany and the Nazis, with propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels created a new ‘verb’, to coventrate, which was their reference to the mass bombing of the city, to "conventrate" means "to annihilate or reduce to rubble."

In later years when the RAF and the USAAF bombed cities in Nazi Germany, they used the words ‘coventration bombing’ to describe their blanket bombing attacks.

There is a plaque in St Barts Hospital Museum commemorating the location in which John Watson first met Sherlock Holmes, donated by 'Baker St Irregulars' in 1953.
