There was filming in a church yesterday, but whether it was for a funeral (Mary or Baby) or not is anybody's guess.

I hadn't heard about that, do you know what church it was? Was it in Wales - just wondering if it's one I know or not
Sorry, it didn't say anything about location, and yesterday they were all filmed outside a suburban house, almost Queen Anne style, with Benedict, Una and Martin dressed in black, but with the insufferable Mrs Watson in her red coat. This company must have very few clothes for its actors. And they have filmed a whole snippet in Morocco, together with the new villain, as reported by Sherlockshome.net . Edited by Inge l-w
Added quoted post for clarity.

Apparently that wasn't Amanda in the red coat. https://twitter.com/Anythingbatch/status/735579895036817408

And I think John's suit is blue. Could be the lighting. Have we ever seen him in a suit before? Aside from the wedding, of course. It looks odd on him!

Okay, scruffy Sherlock, at the house location, is wearing a dressing gown....

and even better --- Hudders seen w/ HANDCUFFS!

Was she holding them?  Was she wearing them?  More info needed.

Well, with Sherlock wearing a dressing gown, that would lead me to believe that for whatever reason, he was staying at that place, at least temporarily.  I wouldn't think they would be trying to pass that off as the front of his parents' house, since their house seemed to be in the country, not part of a row of houses.... still, the dressing gown and unshaven thing is there.... thought I saw Toby Jones in one pic, but maybe not.  However, he may be in a couple of episodes (my speculation only), not just brought in and completely dealt with in one.

Oh... 7 months + 1 week to wait....

It looked at one point like John might have been knocking on the door. Or possibly speaking to someone inside. And that big guy ... can't decide if he's in the scene. He looks like he's out of camera range in most of those shots.

Anyway, this should all probably be in the spoilers thread.

ETA: And now it is! Moved some posts over from another thread, I hope it all still reads clearly.

One of the pictures from one of those links, it looked to me like maybe he had dirt on his face again. I'll see if I can find it again.

Found it. https://twitter.com/sherlockmanor/status/735567750224044032

Altho it's so low rez, it doesn't really mean anything. What do we think; is there dirt or wounds on his cheekbones, (ala Dr. Strange! ) or is it just pixel smudge?

Is Sherlock changing his looks maybe? Growing a beard like John's mustache?

maybe the episode is named- the mysterious beard/ the adventure of bearded detective :)

Also that scruffy Sherlock look - either he's slightly in disguise or is suffering some sort of personal distress to not be caring for himself the way we are used to.  He's always perfectly shaved and groomed.

I'm thinking this might be Sherlock's drug rehab look... and that's why the recce crew showed the pix of deserted beach?  following the Jeremy Brett example of Sherlock detoxing himself on a beach.

Yes, when Sherlock sent him to deal with Mycroft regarding the Bruce-Partington plans in "Great Game.". And I believe it was blue that time.

It seemed Hudders had one handcuff cuffed on her wrist and the other part dangling down, rather than just holding them in her hand.

Sorry, in The Great Game Mr Freeman wore a brown corduroy jacket and dark jeans, not a suit. As for the scruffy look, in the early pictures of them all getting out of the car to get into posiotions, Sherlock was in his usual dark suit, which may not show well in high resolution, Mrs Hudson in a black overcoat, black stockings and shoes, the new villain was definitely there in a group photo outside the house, and the red coated person had her back to the camera, but those curls were exactly like the ones shown in the back view pictures posted by Mr Gatiss a while ago.

As for burying his paraphernalia in the sand, if they copy that detox method, then the villain could be the half-brother from The Devil's Foot.

Oh, right. But Inge's right too, it's brown, not blue, and a lot more casual looking. I think he looks great in the blue one, it's just strange to see him like that.

And Sherlock's looking a bit, erm, casual. Have they switched bodies? :) Or maybe just taste in clothes? :D

And I'm remembering that Benedict said in S4 we'll get to see Sherlock "pressed" (and I assume he didn't mean in nicely pressed suits.) I'm thinking this is Sherlock under pressure.

Isn't there a canon story where he works himself so hard, and eats so poorly, that he gets ill, and Watson has to take him to the country to rest or something? That's what I'm thinking is going on. For some reason I don't think they'll show Sherlock anywhere near rehab, although part of his haggard look may be due to drug use too. Drugs to keep himself alert, maybe. Numbskull.

Nope, look again; she's holding one cuff in her hand and letting the other one dangle down. But since they don't appear to be actually filming at that moment, she may simply be holding them for a reason that has nothing to do with the scene. Then again .... :D

This is really fun!!!! :cowdance:

I believe you're referring to "The Musgrave Ritual" (in which case Toby What's-His-Name could be playing the Australian fellow).  Near as I can recall, Moftiss haven't even borrowed any tidbits from that story, so there's plenty of material.

On the other hand, I can't shake the feeling that I'm thinking of the Jeremy Brett adaptation of the story, which is noticeably different in some ways.  I don't offhand recall whether the Holmes-needing-a-rest bit is in the original or not.  But of course Moftiss have borrowed from the Brett series before.

Whatever story it is, I just remember it opening with them out in the country because Sherlock had wrecked his health.

Altho... uh oh. Now I'm having a dim memory of some non-canon character showing up, such as maybe Molly. Curse my memory... I might be thinking of a fanfic.

Hmm, and now I'm thinking that "The Devil's Foot" also starts with Holmes needing a nice long rest in the country (which of course he fails to get ... but a nice juicy mystery perks him up even better!).

John wear's a suit to Moriarity's trial.  I think it was blue but not 100% sure

update: I just looked at it on Netflix and he wears of blue-dark grey suit at the trial meaning that it looked grey-blue in indoor light and dark grey in outdoor sunlight

There was an ambulance on Setlock today.  Also, Abbington has been filming all week, and she doesn't look dead to me! (yes, there are a lot of Mary haters just hoping she'll get killed and the sooner the better, but I'm not in that camp).

I'm thinking he might be using drug addiction as part of his defense on his murder charge?   (Thus leg monitor, in his robe and scruffy, doing detox w/ John's supervision and/or Ella's involvement?)

He has a leg monitor?  Where's that?
