! Was it really as simple as breaking his toys (like John said?) or was it something more...intriguing. Most brothers hate each other over girls, but I find that unlikely (unless this detachment was cause by a broken heart?)

Toy breaking can be very serious. And I have to argue such a broad generalization as "most brothers hate each other over girls." There are so many reasons brothers compete, for the affection of a parent for example. Siblings fight sometimes. The difference in ages between them could factor in as well. When you're fifteen and there's a seven year old around you may try to be a parent, r you may be completely inattentive when that child looks up to you.

I hope the reason is really mundane because I think that would be funnier - like he completely destroyed a lego fortress or something.

I want female genderbender Moran-and-Morstan-are-the same-character, with

John about to marry Morstan and Sherlock being, "I object, on the grounds that she's a murderous sniper who plans on murdering john on their honeymoon!"

Yeah. That.

Well, that would definitely clear up my tendency to get the two names confused! Someone on here a while back was saying it'd be interesting if Mary Morstan turned out to be a baddie, and I think you have an interesting approach to that. Kinda doubt that we'll ever see your idea on Sherlock, but there are a lot of us in the ain't-gonna-see-it boat, so welcome to the club!

I think Sherlock should have to knock on the door and ask John's wife if John can come out to play. And she would begrudgingly say yes. If a frienship is ruined because one of the friends is getting laid on a regular basis then not much of a friendship. Obviusly I have nothing invested in Johnlock shipping:-)

But then, I never invest my energy is ships because they always get Jossed.

Since there's not much to talk about for the next couple of months, I was wondering- what do you want to see happen in Series 3?  It could be something that you know is coming (a la spoilers), or just something you would like to see or even something you wouldn't want to see.

Posted

1)The look on Kitty Winter's face when she learns that her "scoop" and her source are both bogus.

2)The look on Anderson's face when he realizes that Sherlock is not a fake nor a criminal.

3) Ditto for Donovan.

4) John and Sherlock's reunion.

5) Lestrade and Sherlock's reunion.

6) The reveal on how Sherlock survived the "Fall".

7) When we learn how long Sherlock's "Great Hiatus" is supposed to have lasted. And what he has been doing all that time.

8) John and Mary's wedding.

Not necessarily in that order.

Well, we know that the next episode will be set in early November - I wonder if it will be the next November or the November after that.  I doubt it will follow canon because that would be a very long time to be dead.  I don't think that Sherlock will be galavanting around the world like he did in the stories.

What I would like to see is John handle a case (at least mostly) on his own.  I was talking with a friend and we were discussing why bad guys don't just go after Sherlock and always go after John or Mrs. Hudson instead.  John was kidnapped twice in the first season and we know that he will be kidnapped again in TEH.  Mrs. Hudson has been held hostage, too.  If I were a bad guy, my first priority would be to get Sherlock out of the way.  It was great to see him compromised in ASIB, so I think it would be fun to see John handle a case because Sherlock couldn't- as well as what Sherlock would do.  I think it would just be a fun twist on the relationship.

I'm also looking forward to the wedding and how Sherlock handles it.  Probably not very well.

I suggested some time ago that Mary could be introduced during Sherlock's "death" by having her show up at Baker Street under the assumption that "Holmes, Ltd." is still in business.  Although I don't think John would generally take on a case himself, if he's sufficiently taken with Mary, he might want to try and help her.

Yeah. That.

Yeah, I was thinking along these lines until I got totally distracted by STID coming out - but I thought - "wow, she's only going to appear in one or two episodes?"

Still, it's the perfect cover.  Though I wasn't thinking Moran as much as "Col." Moriarty.  Evil Mary would be delicious either way, though.

I do think John's immediate reaction will be to punch Sherlock and stalk off.   I also think we will see a radical shift in Sherlock's personality from the man we first met.  He can't even pretend he's a sociopath any more.

What would I like to see?  The scene I'd like to see is the one where Sherlock acknowledges to Molly how strong his feelings are for her and then explains why he has to make the choice to NOT have romance in his life.  Ever. And for her to accept that.  This allows her to grow, I think, and I really want to see her do that.  Louise Brealy is such an amazing actor, I want her to have a lot more to do.  I wouldn't mind it if he kissed her "good-bye" (as a romantic interest) putting the whole issue at rest and then they carry on as friends, but I don't think Mofftiss will ever go there with Sherlock.

Besides, if I was Molly and Sherlock said he cared for me but would never be available to me that way and then kissed me, just once, I'd soon be mainlining formaldehyde on a steel table in the morgue.

So I'm a bit late to this topic(sorry!), but I honestly can't wait to see what series 3 has in store for us.

My list of what I want to happen:

-Dramatic scene with John where Sherlock returns. I quite like the idea of Sherlock being in a disguise at first, and John not realising it was him.

-Sherlock revealing himself to Scotland Yard, and Lestrade/Donovan and Anderson's reactions.  (Have this scene in my head of them on a case and Sherlock walks in wearing a disguise and is able to work out exactly what happened, and they're all like, oh my goodness he's just like Sherlock.)

-How the public will react. I mean, is it going to be revealed to the public that Sherlock wasn't actually a fraud? Or will it be kept quiet, with Sherlock staying away from the public eye.

-How Kitty Riley reacts to it all

Most of all, I would love it if Sherlock did use the phone to record what happened on the rooftop, returned to get it after he faked his death, and then a few weeks/months later just left it in Lestrade's office or something. Just to see everyone's reactions on realizing why he committed suicide. It would probably go public as well, they would think they owed him that much. So everyone would know why he committed suicide and John and Lestrade etc would all be devastated, and even Donovan and Anderson would be pretty guilty. And Kitty Riley as well. Then Sherlock could come back.

That in my mind, would be pretty amazing :)

Yeah. My brain hurts from so much Sherlock.

I'm a bit late to this, but...I’d love it if John and Mary moved into 221C…could you imagine the hilarity? I can just imagine John and Mary in bed together, then Sherlock bursts in (because we all know that neither locks nor passwords can keep him out when he wants in) to either try to drag John off on a case or regale him/them with a long, rambling deduction. Bonus points if he bursts in on them wearing only a sheet.

Hello, Rushlight -- welcome to Sherlock Forum!   :welcome:

Your scenario does indeed have a good deal of dramatic / comedic potential.  It'll be interesting to see if "they" have indeed decided to fix up 221C for the happy couple -- judging by what we saw of it in "The Great Game," it'd take more than just some fresh paint!

Thanks, Carol! Happy to be aboard! :-) Yes, 221C would definitely need some work, but I think it would be worth it.

Just thought of this...double bonus points if Lestrade and/or Mrs. Hudson witnesses the above scenario, leading to more speculation about alternative lifestyles. Triple bonus points if John punches Sherlock for the intrusion!

Hi all, new poster here! Something I do not want: for the big reunion scene to take place somewhere public, like the restaurant that is hinted at in the trailer. I want it to be just between the two of them, no spectators! I would not mind if Mary was important in 1 or 2 episodes, she could make a fun character, but then she dies and Sherlock has to find a way to deal with John's emotions. To put it short: the stuff good fanfic is made of ;) .

Hello, jonne -- welcome to Sherlock Forum!  :welcome:  Thanks for jumping right in with your thoughts!

I too would hate to see Mary interfere, but from what little I've seen, it looks like she may be more of a liaison between the two -- something they could have used a few times before!  It'll be interesting to see how Moftiss decide to write her.

Well I suppose like a lot of people, one of the main things I'm looking forward to is finally finding out how on earth Sherlock did it!

John and Sherlock's reunion and John's reaction to finding Sherlock alive, hoping for plenty of angst and bromance here, with a bit of humour thrown in!

I would also like to see where Sherlock has been and what he has been up to whilst the world believes him to be dead.

and finally I would love for Sherlock to notice Molly, especially with John now settled down, although I really don't see that happening.

Definitely.  And I'd also like to see what John is up to while he believes Sherlock to be dead, how he's getting on with his life.  Would be kinda cool to have alternating scenes of the two of them, plus maybe some where Sherlock is keeping a protective eye on John.

I'd like to see Sherlock's personality develop further, without humanizing him too much. I'm kind of concerned that, because of the growing popularity of the show, there will be pressure on the creators to make the main character(s) be more of a "good example" for the viewers.

Also, I am really looking forward to meeting the "modern Mary". I was very apprehensive when they announced they were going to do a take on Irene, but after that turned out so well, I have very little doubt that John's wife will be a great character. It would be nice to see Watson happily settled in a home of his own. I mean, how heartless do you have to be to want him to remain single and poor all his life? And have no other companion than his flatmate?

Even though I'm not a big fan of "Scandal in Belgravia" (having really liked Conan Doyle's Irene Adler, and thinking that Moffat done her wrong), I do agree with you regarding my hopes for Sherlock's Mary Morstan.  For one thing, her introductory episode is written by Mark Gatiss, and for another, she's being played by an actress who has great rapport with the fellow who's playing John Watson (they have some delightful flirting scenes in The All Together, which I would not otherwise recommend).

And hello, T.o.b.y -- welcome to Sherlock Forum!  :welcome:  It's great to see a brand-new member jumping right in!

That reminds me of what I read on tumblr somewhere about Martin Freeman: "Amanda Abbington vouches for him, so we figure he must be alright."
