So. I was thinking the other day about what I would like to see in Series 3... So, entirely ignoring Arthur Conan Doyle if you wish...

  • How/when would you like Sherlock to come back?
  • How would you like to see Watson and everybody else who wasn't in on it react?
  • Who do you think is not in on it, for that matter?
  • What stories would you like to see in Series 3?
I'm not sure whether I want Sherlock back early in the season, or not. If the seasons were longer, I'd say I'd love to see an episode of Watson trying to figure stuff out and Sherlock in the background trying to help without being discovered. But, with only three episodes, I'm not sure how feasible that is... Still, it'd be good to see some of that...

I'd love to see Watson being angry at Sherlock for it, a kind of "yeah, you might have done the right thing for the right reasons but I'm still angry nonetherless" situation. I have visions of John not talking to Shelock except to see whether his theory about either the case or how Sherlock pulled off jumping off the building is correct, and Sherlock making John even angrier with his usual "Oh, John, once more you see, but you do not observe" attitude. The line "I should shoot you for this!" uttered by a very angry John also keeps bouncing around in my head...

I can also see Molly being very apologetic to everybody for her part in the deception...

That's about all I can think of now... So, what does everybody else think? :)

I'm not really thinking about anything - I'm kind of waiting with fizzy anticipation to see how *they* sort it out!

I want more competent Lestrade (not a surprise, I'm sure), more loyal Molly, more BAMF John and more inscrutable Sherlock and I think I stand a good chance of getting all of those.

Let's see:

-MOAR EPISODES!!!! (Seriously, the only reason I'm paying 30 dollars for a 3 episode dvd is cause this is so awesome it's worth it)

-When Sherlock comes back, I want them to make it like in The Empty Chair including

Watson fainting, Sherlock opening his shirt and kiss- uh...I mean, pouring the drink on his lips...

I love that icon! :D It's up there with the animated "things that belong to Sherlock: coat, violin, John", or something like that...

I know what you mean! I have a folder of like a hundred of her icons. They are brilliant!

What do I want to see for series 3? Oh boy!

- I love the ACD story The Empty House. Sherlock could be in disguise and accidently run into John. Yes, I want lots of disguises.

- Or maybe that John is just minding his own business, walking into 221B and there is Sherlock just sitting back in his chair like nothing happened.

- I want to see what Sherlock and John did for the past whatever amount of time. If it's 3 years like in the canon I might cry. So long to be away.

- I hope Mycroft was in on it. There is going to be so much angst between him and Sherlock in series 3 over what he did. I hope to see more of their very interesting relationship!

- I want Colonel Moran to show up. SO DARN MUCH.

- And I really want to see Mummy Holmes. :)

Oh, yeah, please, lots of that.

It'd be good to see how they cope with being apart. Particularly Sherlock. Much as he prides himself in not needing people around him, I think this would show him just how... used to having John around he's become in the last... however long.

MORAN MORAN MORAN MORAN MORAN MORAN MORAN

Seriously though...it will obviously pick up with a recap on what happened last time, followed by several scenes showing the aftermath of it all, mainly focused around John's devastation and the other people Sherlock has left behind. I definitely think Sherlock will return in the first episode though. There's only so much they can do of John moping around. Remember it's not fan fiction, all of the episodes are essentially action based and I think they'll remain that way. What people want to see is the reunion between John and Sherlock, and Sherlock's explanation of how he did it, which will probably be explained in the usual classy way with flashbacks and Sherlock making it seem all incredibly simple and glaringly obvious.

We have to consider what makes Sherlock return at that precise moment in time. Why not 6 months earlier, a year earlier, or in a year's time. There has to be SOMETHING that makes Sherlock decide,"yes now is the time to make my return". If you read The Empty House (and I would strongly recommend you do because it's totally awesome), then the reason he's returned is because he finds out Colonel Moran has come back to London and sees an opportunity to catch up with him. He appears to Watson in disguise obviously thinking it will be fun, but then Watson faints lol. I don't think John will faint because that's a bit old fashioned. I think his initial emotions will be disbelief, then anger, then joy. I've also entertained the possibility that John might punch Sherlock. They'll definitely hug because they'll both be really pleased to see each other (but not in a Johnlock way!)

I'd like to see them stick pretty closely to The Empty House...it has some really cool parts that would be easily adaptable to the modern setting. And it has Moran - 2nd most dangerous man in London.

I want the first episode to have both John and Sherlock's story through the 3 year gap (do you think it's going to be 3 years?), and then a massive cliffhanger at the end where Sherlock turns up/reveals himself to John.

I just want to see how they've lived their lives without each other.

I would also like to see Mary Morstan. I can't believe that we haven't actually seen her yet - I mean, John marries her.

I think that it is probable that we will never see her in BBC Sherlock, I don't think that they'll move John out of 221b would they? I don't believe it would work as well.

And I ship JohnLock so hard and would probably cry if he and Sherlock were separated more than they need to....

Seriously though...if he does marry Mary, she should move into the flat too!

Or she has her own place and gets John on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and alternate weekends...

I can sooooooo see her and Sherlock making arrangements for that in front of John while John goes "Hellooooo? I'm here! You don't talk about me like that. Not while I'm in the room, anyway"....

Of course Sherlock would always have first dibs during cases, even if it wasn't one of 'his' days...

First episode of the next series will have to deal with Sherlock's return both why now and how, John's reaction to it (which I hope will be better than the slightly weak and Edwardian "stiff upper lip" of the original) and what has happened to them in- between. There will have to be some explanation of how and why Sherlock faked his death. It will also have to deal with Sherlock's reputation being re-established, amongst the general public and , more importantly the police. I would expect John to have got married or at least be in a settled relationship, which would be easier for him without Sherlock being around (because, let's face it he wasn't getting very far in the relationship stakes before was he!) Personally I think that the Empty House will be a cert for the next series but maybe for the second episode. Up until now the middle episodes have been a bit weak, in comparison with their partners in the sandwich, and it might be good to make it a middle episode to strengthen the whole package.

Cannot wait, but going to have to, for the next series!

Hmm... I think when John and Sherlock reunites, a good punch in the face would be in order. You just can't do that to your best friend and expect to be greeted with hugs and kisses. John was so devastated by what happened. It would be surprising if he doesn't feel betrayed by Sherlock's little deception. So, if I were John... a sound beating first... then I'll help the bastard clear his name.

Also Sherlock needs to solve the mystery of how Moriarty got the little girl to screamed upon seeing his face. That's where all his problems started, right? That's when people started suspecting him and doubting his credibility. So he needs to answer that little question first. I'm very curious to know the reason myself. Though, I don't suppose the police'll let him near the girl to question her (seeing as how he'd still be a wanted criminal and all), so he's going to need help with that. So yeah... that's what I'd like to see. I've been curious about what happened with the little girl since the 2nd season ended. Hope they'll address that mystery first in the 3rd series.

With regards to the little girl...mercury poisoning can cause confusion and delirium...all Moriarty needed to do was show her pictures of Sherlock whilst she was kidnapped and that would be enough to incite that reaction upon seeing him in the flesh - she associated Sherlock with her terrible ordeal...That's my theory anyway.

I'd guess that the London Olympics will play pivotal role somehow. Perhaps Sherlock stows away with a Norwegian team or goes undercover in order to investigate a global threat.

He's only really done a security guard and a priest with his 'disguises' so far, I expect him to utilise that aspect of his skills further upon his return.

bottom line is, if John is NOT angry then there is something wrong with characterisation. After all, HE doesn't know Sherlock is alive. We do. Sherlock made him watch as he jumped. How are you supposed to feel when you find out someone made you watch their own death? They were best friends, and their relationship I feel is deeper even than the original Holmes and Watson. Fan fiction aside, in canon they are not in a physical remationship but they are in a mental one. Their friendship is deeper even than I think they are both willing to confess. I feel John's reaction needs to be in proportion to that. Maybe even surprising to both of them.

The beginning adventure ought to be a take on the Adventure of the Empty House. Moran is still at large and the last one for Holmes to catch. Maybe John would faint if he saw Sherlock, not sure. He does in the stories. They both need to tackle this one though. Maybe John gets angry and leaves, only to come back last minute to save Sherlock, realising how much he needs to have him back. ]

In the books Sherlock was gone three years but John had already met and married Mary by then and she died before Sherlock returned. So they've messed with the timeline on that score already. Not sure how they would introduce Mary now. Will they open the new series with John's wedding? And sherlock watching from afar? I wonder if he meets her, marries her, maybe she's already sick and dies early then Sherlock has to be the one to bring John out of his grief by diverting him with cases? A little too boring I think.

I wouldn't be disappointed if Mary never shows. Not because I like the pair of them too much, I feel that Mary might be a detraction from the dynamic between the main characters. Although it would change that Dynamic in interesting ways too I guess. No hint of which stories they propose to use though.

Oooh. I didn't know that! Interesting. Is there anyway to correct the brainwashing? Or would the condition be permanent?
