No no, I'm not offended, if anything this is more like a historical/anthropological discussion. What bothers me and makes me edgy is where it might lead. But I'm off the emails now so feel free to carry on! :D

My weather app says more snow on the way next week.  Again with the snow.

Looks like we're finally due for our first actual cold weather and snow this week.  Up till now, this autumn just been cool with a couple of light frosts.

And we're back to the pattern of rain, rain and more rain. If it ever turns cold enough here, I won't be getting out of my driveway for weeks. (Literally; back during the Snowpocalypse of 2010, it took me two weeks to shovel the driveway. Fortunately I'd had the foresight to park my car at the roadside end, but even so it took me two days to shovel a path to it, and a couple more (and a neighbor's help) to break down the wall of ice left across the end of the drive by the snowplow. Ahhh, those were the days.)

Sometime on the first day....

Alex and I used to rent a duplex apartment in a cul-de-sac.  Every time it snowed (usually only about four inches), the city plow would dutifully come out at sunset and scrape all the snow from the entire circle over to the edge, where it would freeze solid overnight, very effectively trapping us all in our driveways and blocking the letter carrier from accessing our  roadside mailboxes --whereas we could easily have gotten through the four inches of snow.  Grrrr!

I got pretty good at chopping through the icy ridge with my garden spade.  But still.

It looks pretty though, seems surreal.

I have a fat wrist today.  Moved my bike just two meters forward to avoid incoming rain and thought that I had left the stand engaged, apparently not. Obviously when I leaned the bike there was nothing to hold it so all the force and effort to keep it from falling down was on my wrist. Sprained and now that hand is only capable for light task as it has no strength to hold anything heavy but it's not so bad, it's just look much fatter than the other one.

And my neighbor's kids made friend, their houses are three houses apart, with mine in the middle, this morning they found fun way of communicating; by screaming to each other on top of their lungs. The parents, of courseeeeeeee, found them cute and adorable.

You could teach the kids how to use two tin cans and a string.

Either that, or organize the other neighbors to visit the kids' parents, preferably carrying pitchforks and flaming torches.

Pitchforks and flaming torches sound like good idea, but you lost me at 'organize the other neighbors'. :D

Agreed. I love snow. It's so quiet when it snows, and so pretty. I don't even mind shoveling it all that much, but that particular year was a killer. I've forgotten how many big storms we had, but it was a LOT of snow. It was gorgeous.

Understood; I used to live in Washington state and the above conditions were the norm. But here in the DC area, we are famed for panicking at even the suggestion of snow. People who aren't used to it apparently don't know what to do with it....

I love looking at snow if I'm looking out the window from a nice warm room.  I enjoy going for a walk in the snow as long as I'm dressed for it (and can return to that nice warm room whenever I want).  And it's fun to shovel snow the next day when it's nice and sunny (with little or no wind).  But I do *not* enjoy driving in snowy roads (especially after the snow packs down so it might as well be ice), even though I'm capable of doing it if I have to.  It's just too easy to be surprised by an extra-slick spot.

Plus there are the other drivers to watch out for -- the "road cowboys" who think slowing down in poor driving conditions is sissy stuff, the California imports who literally have no idea how to drive in snow, and the vast legions of the perpetually clueless.

Yeah, well … I concede all that. :D

I'm in pissy mood (well that is NOT un usual).

Three of my colleagues are being imbecile and incompetent with their jobs, as the result, I got the bitter end.

I'm responsive and had been in touch with these consultants for MY SCOPE. But when they failed to get response or proper response and responsibility from the colleagues about THEIR SCOPES, they look for me to help and answer. Well I understand their frustration and try to help to bridge them, but there is only so much I could do as I don't have any control over their scopes which I explain clearly as well. The best is, my boss also got frustrated with them and asked me to help, which again, I'd try to help but there is only that much that I could do! I feel like being punished for doing my job well, that instead of fixing what is broken, they put the task of broken things to unbroken ones and expect everything to go well. (Oh ya, I told them that too)

Now they have been bugging me for every unsolved matters (well, if I were on their shoes, in foreign land, and got no response from people who should, I would go to the one who is responsive too, for help, I get it) but I'm on my last string of patience tbh since sometimes it seems that they prefer to come to me on the first place for quick action. It's inconvenient and I have tons of my stuff to do instead of baby sitting everyone, and of course my efforts would only go as far as how they pick it up from there. Whatever you expect me to do and what I could do beyond your imagination, I've already done that. And I have made sure they know, even the boss. But for anything beyond what I could do, I'd let it burn. BURN!

I've always been told that the trick is to be so inefficient that no one will ask you to do anything. Seems to me some people really excel at that tactic, too.

Wait... it seems like these collagues I was talking about are taking advice from you!!!      :blanket:

I don't think I can do it though, it'd be killing me. Not that I'm super efficient, but I'd need extra effort to ignore.things.go.wrong...

Flaming torch, I need them!

But you need to balance it so you don't get fired. That's a very special skill.

I just think there should be a religion thread where the religious discussions live, like the political thread. However I don't want my name on it so I don't want to start it. If Christmas movies got moved to their own thread surely religion should also have it's own thread?

If we don't already have one, I will glady rectify that. If this forum can handle politics, it can do religion and I personally find that a fascinating topic.

Again … one which many people seem to have mastered. 😛

As do I. My minor in college was Philosophy and Religion, emphasis on the latter (although now I wish I'd gotten in a couple more philosophy courses too; I don't feel like I know much about it.)
