Let's call that recipe 'Tofu cake' :D

I have a recipe for some sort of tempeh wrapped on thin sort of tofu skin. Will translate it later, now time to feed the furkids and do general chores around the house.

Oh dear :( Taxes are a nightmare - I swear they mess about with the codes just to mess with your head and spring unpleasant surprises on you.

@Pseudonym: An alternative is to fit regular frame with photochromic lenses. The lenses are clear indoor and getting progressively darker the stronger it gets exposed to sunlight.

I don't wear glasses, so I'd likely still have issue finding a pair or those that suit me. Still, it's the ones I see online and like the look of before looking at the photos of them on the model and realising how massive they would be. I want cool sunglasses damn it.

Lol. Lots of people use spectacles as fashion statement-only. This way you can tailor the glasses to your own specifications.

Nipping back to ranting, why are sunglasses so huge? I like the look of oversized sunglasses, but I'm pretty small so on me oversized sunglasses make me look like Brains from Thunderbirds, it's not a good look. Why can't they make ones that are scaled so they don't look ridiculous?

The ones I wear are oversized so they'll fit over one's regular prescription glasses.  I do wear glasses, so it's either those or clip-ons.  I own both kinds, and usually wear the clip-ons for driving because I was once punched in the face by an airbag while wearing clip-ons, and have a horrible mental image of what might have happened if I'd been wearing the other kind -- which has a sharp rim around the edge to keep the sun from sneaking into one's eyes -- that rim would surely have been driven right into the bridge of my nose, with heaven knows what dire results.  *shudder*

But anyhow, the rest of the time (e.g., gardening, going for walks) I wear the oversized ones because they really do a better job of keeping the sun out of my eyes.  So I look dorky -- what else is new!

Oh, and as for the kind that turn dark when you go outside, I hate that look!  Or more to the point, I hate the look of sunglasses in general except when they're serving a purpose.  And it takes the automatic lenses a while to turn clear again after you come in.  Sometimes they even seem to stay a bit smoky, perhaps because it's really light in the room.  I prefer to control my "look" myself (even if it is dorky some of the time).

My dad is often wearing two pairs of glasses in the summer, looks pretty funny. :D Never thought about the result of an airbag with glasses - the idea of the bar cutting into the bridge of your nose is horrifying.  :o

I like the ones with graduated lenses, but then I try them on and look like an utter tit.

... sharp-rimmed frame, means the thick-broad kind? Here we called it (jokingly) as Korean movie star glasses.

I believe this is the style I'm currently using.  The frames are wide in the sense that you see a lot of frame around the lenses, but the material isn't very thick.  It merely looks thick because there's an extra piece at right angles to the part around the lenses, like a shelf.

I see, a bit like swimming goggles.

This is the tempeh recipe:

120 gram tempeh

1 tsp curry powder

2 cloves garlic

1 egg

1 white onion (with the leaves)

2 sheets spring rolls skin (big size)

500 ml oil for frying

A little salt

1. Dice tempeh and white onions

2. Chop garlics

3. Heat up 3 tbsp oil then fry tempeh, garlic, white onion, curry powder until fully cooked. Let the mixture cool down in a bowl.

4. Mix number 3's cooled mixture with salt and egg.

5. Spread one spring rolls skin on flat surface, spread number 4's mixture on to evenly.

6. Put the other spring rolls skin on top of number 5 then using a little water, pinch the edges close to form a pocket.

7. Fry until the skin becomes a little golden-coloured.

8. Slice then serve while warm.

That's the pair I use as I need the wrap around when I drive.  Light sensitive eyes are annoying on a good day.  On a bad day, it's cloudy and I'm still wearing sunglasses as the cloud cover is not thick enough. :(

That's what I wear, I love them. Only need the one pair, and from the inside looking out, you can't tell they've changed. From the outside looking in, I don't care. Although I do think next time I'll get the ones that don't turn quite so dark. Because, um, I do sort of care. A little bit. :p

That is wielding glass right?

I actually use wielding glass for night riding, bought them from hardware shop, in wielding department :D it's much more economical, comfortable and functional actually.

Not a trendy look, but that is not the most untrendy things I put on me. I worship function, not style.Banane21.gif

Plus thing: It's killing some of my acquaintances. :p Just like when they forced me to change phone because mine survived on duct tape and golf tee stylus. I enjoyed every minutes of their embarrassment with my phone. :cowdance:

Your autocorrect steered you wrong, VBS. Took me a moment to figure it out, but I think you meant welding goggles. Interesting.

Welding goggles? We had these weird helmet-things with a visor you could pull down during welding classes. And the viewing window on those was quite dark, you would run into things and such if you tried anything but looking into a welding arc with it.

As for slim sunglasses, my husband has a pair of old rimless Maui Jim sunglasses he loves wearing - they are slim and light but have these tiny curved wings that protect from sideways sun glare (I think they're supposed to be worn on the water). No idea if they're still selling similar glasses but sports equipment might be a good place to look at any rate.

*Blinks* Someone has nicked my recycling bag. My recycling bag that came free from the council. How odd.

There's a "low vision" shop near here that has some sunglasses like that -- wire frames, but large enough to fit over one's prescription glasses, and they have extra lenses that wrap around the corners.  So that's another sort of store you could try, one that caters to people with cataracts, etc., whose eyes are very sensitive to light and glare.

What sort of bag?  Nice reusable one?  Regular paper sack?

It's a big woven plastic one with a weighted bottom, and the only thing they will collect the plastic recycling in. But it's not like I bought it, and I'm pretty sure I can get a replacement for free, it just seems weird. It even has my house number painted on the side for God's sake.

Sounds like a good, sturdy all-round bag, though, for anyone who's not fashion conscious!

Posted

Ha! I should mention it's also huge, I could probably fit in it in a foetal position.

Posted

Wow! Sounds like a great tote bag -- and those things are expensive, if you get 'em the honest way.

Posted

Yea, it's handy but not attractive. Pink and woven plastic. Or at least it was. *sigh* I'm hoping someone will realise it has my house number on it and it'll be in my garden tomorrow. Sorry this is not the most thrilling topic of conversation but I just can't get over someone being sad enough to nick my bin bag. It's bizarre.

Yeah, sorta like someone stealing a trash can.

You don't suppose it blew away in a gust of wind?
