Rewatching Robin of Sherwood. Geeez, that's soooooo 80ties!! The same vibes as Mad Max and Highlander, lol.

I also found two Sherlock cast members: Dr. Frankland from Baskerville was Big John and Cabbie was King John in one episode. :D

I loved the Michael Praed version of that show. Never worked as well after he left, imo.

Another good show, keeping the quality through all seasons, with a story that seems to be written from beginning to end: Black Sails. I needed a second try, though. I saw it on TV once, not from the beginning and all I remembered was the incredible face of Zack McGowan. :D But it's well done and a more realistic counterpart to Pirates of the Caribbean.

That sounds almost self-contradictory -- but presumably quite descriptive!

My friend recommended Severance until smoke came out her head, so I gave it a try, but I think it suck.

I wrote a long list of reasons why it sucks when she asked me and she was certainly not happy, wonder if you guys have watched it and liked it.

It's been a while and I have liked the first four season and one or two episodes of the fifth season (including the one with Andrew Scott), but season six was weird to the point that they don't feel like Black Mirror anymore except one good episode 'Beyond the Sea.'

Watched Shogun but haven't had access for more episode and the first episode is good.

I've seen the first 3(?) Seasons of Sons of Anarchy. It has some good aspects, but it starts to drag. I'm making a break* from streaming and I'm not too eager to watch the rest. I might do it though, the next time I get Disney.

*because I've bought myself the complete The Walking Dead on DVD for my birthday. You might guess, I'm still stuck with it. 😆

Have you seen Yellowstone? I liked it a lot, for the (very good) performances and story, and also for the wonderful cinematography + Western nostalgia.

ETA: Hey, VBS! :hugz:

I still somehow remember the old one and I'm amazed how different they look regarding costumes. Of course the style of making movies/shows changed a lot, but they look as if they were placed in two different timeframes.

Hi J.P, happy to see that you are well.

I have a confession to make, every time I see owls, I still think, "J.P!" Not so much to seeing duck reminds me of Carol, though. Not sure why :D

I actually don't remember the old one. I think I have watched it, but didn't pay attention to details. I still have the thick hardcover book (it would potentially give a thief concussion should I use that as weapon).

Actually, these two are in my TBW (to be watched) list, I hear good things about them, but I also hear they don't conclude well or become repetitive/draggy. Not sure it's wise to watch Walking Dead when I stay alone in quiet neighborhood but I think I have seen worse. I'm just confused, is it the same with 'The Fear of Walking Dead?"

I haven't heard of it actually. I always think if I ever lived near Yellowstone or Utah, I would hike everyday. So, the scenery itself is a good sell to watch.

My most urgent TBR is Ripley, I saw some threads about it here, but didn't read any as I don't want to get spoiled. I have to get to it by the end of the month, because my sis-in-law watched it and she would most likely spoil it!

I'm afraid it is.

Actually, it's not scary THAT way. It's gory/macabre, but the Zombies are actually rather a part of the scenery. Once I got used to them, I didn't even notice them.
BUT: the real horror lies in things people are doing to each other, and it's not the human gore that's most difficult to watch sometimes. I've had a moment when I considered breaking it up because it was so depressing (knowing that people actually can be even worse in RL, didn't help). It still has good/engaging characters, an interesting story and some great moments. It "got me" while I was watching it as a background for knitting, not paying 100% attention - so it was a bit of a surprise. :)
Unfortunately, it suffers from the same problem all long shows have - they start to be written for money, so the quality decreases in favour of length and to me, it is really visible.

Fear The Walking Dead is a kind of sister show. It's the same universe and a similar timeline, but different locations and characters. To me, it was much less engaging. The same for other spin-offs and there are… wait…  four more of them.

Haven't seen Ripley, but I can hardly remember the movie version, which meant I wasn't that impressed by the story. :P

BTW, have anyone of you seen Eric with Ben?

That's what I think, I watched other zombie shows without hesitation. I think the fact that it has been going around so long that put me off again and again.

See? I know there are more!

I actually wrote something like that and yes, it depressed me so much I took a lot of break and was genuinely affected by it. I know what you meant.

Talking about undead, have you watched The Last of Us? It's based on video game but it's a very good season one, mostly because of the things you mentioned.

The Talented Mr. Ripley? Are they the same?

I watched the movie and I quite like it. It's not my favorite but it was intriguing to me.

Anyway, my deadline is looming and I haven't found time to watch it.

Yes, I've seen The Last of Us, mostly because of Bella Ramsay. It was okay-ish. :D Still, it got me surprisingly emotional in the last episode, as they told Joel about the the operation.

The whole show is carried by the actors' performances imo. The story itself is quite standard - they just exchanged a virus with a fungus, that's all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, they are both based on the same book.

ETA: this is an article in German, maybe you can let Google translate it. It made me curious. I'm waiting for more interesting stuff to go back to Netflix, but it will be on my list.
