Went to see it again today, enjoyed it much more than the first time.

May have to wait until it comes out on DVD before I can see it. So far it's not being shown locally here.

It's opening in more theaters, Fox.  Hope you can see it soon.

Try Googling the name of the movie and the name of nearby towns, Fox -- like this:

"The Imitation Game"  "Portland ME"

Looks like it's playing several places in Maine, but I'm not sufficiently familiar with the towns to have much idea whether any of them are near you.

Yep, it's a shut out.  I sort of thought that would happen for TIG at the big awards.  Doesn't mean Ben won't still get a nomination for Oscar glory on Jan 15, but I think he's not going to win any of these awards.

Wouldn't surprise me either

There's some pretty stiff competition this year.

The film got so much hype at the festivals early on, and we weren't hearing about any of the competition, and that's what sort of concerned me.  It was as if there weren't any other films, but then they started to emerge, and the real competition revealed itself.  I really think that Michael Keaton will take the Oscar home this year, and I haven't even seen Birdman.  It's just what I expect.  Either him or Eddie Redmayne, but I suspect Keaton.

I suspect you're right. And Boyhood for best film.

And in other ways, that's actually better for Ben not to be sweeping all the acting awards at this stage of his career because it would put a weird pressure on him...like everything should then be of that caliber or better.  So, I think psychologically, at least, it gives him more freedom to grow as an actor.

I've not seen The Theory of Everything as yet, and I want to,  but it would seem the sort of role that the awards like to award, from all reviews and accounts Eddie is absolutely amazing as Hawking and it is a sort of irony really that the role of Hawking stopped Ben winning the Globe.

I would be surprised if he didn't get a nomination, but it does seem so many great performances this year and only so many people can get nominated.

The odd thing is that on the GG website where they show the winners, they show a pic of Ben as Hawking where the musical score is.

All I can find on the GG site is this:

johann-johannsson-the-theory-of-everythi

... so either you weren't talking about the photogallery of winners at the top of their home page, or else they've fixed it.

Yes they definitely show Ben's Hawking for the score slot.

Aha!  You're right.  I've saved the photo, in case they ever correct their faux pas:

Their caption says:

JóHANN JóHANNSSON
Best Original Score - Motion Picture

It was one of the many BC related faux pas of the evening..  Not that he cared.  He had a good time and his lovely was at his side.

And we have the end of the Critic's Choice awards with another complete shut-out of TIG.  Expect more of the same at the Oscars.

My husband just proposed that we go see it tonight. I did not object

I'm quite lucky, it shows in 5 minutes walking distance from my house in the original version (but with subtitles). The Netherlands is always great with showing undubbed versions and a good coverage of cinemas showing smaller art house films.

I loved it, thought it was touching and surprisingly funny.

I was distracted for a bit though when a guy apparantly became so upset by somebody eating M&Ms from a squeaky bag that he grabbed the bag and smashed it to the floor, sending the M&Ms flying everywhere O_o they had a bit of an argument afterwards and it was very awkward.

My husband became very excited about explaining how the code was cracked exactly and proclaimed Turing a personal hero, 'insofar those exist'. So apart from Crazy!M&Mguy, I think I was in the right company to see this film :D

Glad you liked it, and so sorry you had some morons get into a spat over some M&Ms.  Although crinkly noises during a movie ARE annoying.

Agreed but this was far more distracting than the eating had been, lol! The guy's wife seemed to be dying with embarassment, too. Ahh, exciting times.

And well she might, in my opinion. If my husband tried something like that, he'd be in big trouble.

*Sigh*... everybody seems to have seen this movie but me. That lovely theater where I saw the Hobbit is going to show it soon - for just one night and tadaa, guess what I have to do on that day: correct, work! Hurray. Oh well. What was the DVD invented for. I'll get to see it - eventually.
