Sherlock in a drug den?! one can only dream of knowing his brain activity and capability's whilst under the influence of cocaine!

We can never know where Mofftiss is taking this, but in Canon Watson finds Holmes in a opium den and lights into him only to find that Holmes wasn't actually using he was there undercover on a case. So we may see Sherlock backslide....or not.

Canon is very, VERY important in this episode.

Everyone who hasn't read the story of Milverton yet should do so before the episode airs ;)

You mean in the case of the drugs? But then, what side of canon are you on? The side where Holmes actually goes on a cocaine binge (see the ending of "The Sign of the Four" and the opening of "A Scandal in Belgravia") or the side where he only pretends to take opium to investigate the disappearance of a man and has a good laugh at Watson for his initial worry ("The Man with the Twisted Lip")?

The software just killed a long speculating ramble of mine for this thread. Probably a good thing. All I'll say instead is: I am honestly considering not to watch this episode the night it airs, but to wait until I can get a full summary and then decide whether my heart and glands are really up to it. There are some possible developments that I would not want to see.

I can't help the sneaking fear that something really shocking might happen concerning John. Not necessarily his death (for real, anyway), but some revelation that changes everything we thought we knew about him. Or seems to. Because if the previous episode did one thing, it firmly established John as the most lovable creature on earth in out minds, didn't it?

Absolutely DO NOT spoil it for yourself first.  Really, don't.  I promise you, you want to watch it as unspoiled as possible.  I think people are getting themselves worked up over imaginary scary things that aren't true.  There are a lot of shocks and it's an emotional roller coaster, but you want to see this, and you want to see it when it airs and before you check the internet.  Because I promise, you will thank me when you watch it without spoilers.

/knows what she's talking about

That's probably true for some people. Not for me.  I have never once in my life regretted having spoilers ahead of time when it came to a television program (the only one I avoid spoiling now is The Walking Dead). And when I was reading Deathly Hallows, someone spoiled

Dobby's death

before I got to it, and I was kind of annoyed by that.  But I've never, like, sought out spoilers deliberately and then been disappointed that I did. If I decide that I want to know, I make that decision wholeheartedly and don't regret it.

Still, I'm sure there are people who do think they want to know and then wish they didn't. I will be keeping quiet on any information I have unless anyone specifically messages me and says they are 100% certain that they want to know. Haven't gotten anything in my inbox yet. :)  Although I was kind of hoping anyone who had read all the ACD stories would, just so I'd have someone to discuss the "canon-ness" of the spoilers with.

New clips and pictures from HLV up on the interactive trailer site, btw.

When I click on that link, it just takes me to the old The Empty Hearse trailer. What am I doing wrong?

I read the Milverton story before bed last night. It was actually a really quick read. I'm going to try to read His Last Bow tonight or tomorrow, because I've heard that that one is also important to the episode.

Believe me, you'll thank me after the episode is over if you watch it without spoilers.  Seriously.  I'm a spoiler hound myself, but this is one that is best experienced as it happens.

The clips and pictures are in the 'exclusive content' that you have to click on.  3 new clips and a few new pictures.

YES! Someone on tumblr finally spoiled the episode! Thanks to Amanda Abbington for helping me find it, although that probably isn't what she intended, as her tweet was meant to warn people away from them.

Be warned, if you go looking for them, they pretty much lay out most of the episode. Some stuff was very shocking, some was not.

ETA: Well, it looks like this person is deliberately spoiling the episode without tagging and trying to make sure it's seen by as many people as possible, and that's a pretty douchey move.  As I've said, I love spoilers and I'm quite capable of making the decision for myself, but some people really, really don't want them and why anyone would want to force them on them is beyond me.  This definitely worked out in my favor, but I feel bad for the people who were forcefully spoiled. Some people are really hateful. :(

And FYI, to clear up any worry about what I posted last night,

what I hinted at earlier when I said I knew who died and I hoped it was wrong... apparently that was some misinformation. The person I was told who died (secondary character)... these spoilers specifically say that he/she doesn't. The other part of the spoiler I got, though, about someone being gravely injured but surviving... that part was true. And I'm trusting what I've read, because Amanda Abbington has read them and she said they spoiled the whole episode and she's really upset. So I'd say they're legit. After reading these spoilers, I'm much less worried. I hope that makes you guys feel better. :)

Just rewatching 'The Sign of Three' - I think it's the bridesmaid that Sherlock gets close to, as in canon. There was a bit of flirting at the wedding, she presumably is close friends with Mary to be her bridesmaid, so may have connections with CAM too, and there was a rival ready to step in, as Sherlock set one up at the wedding! Elementary my dear Watson :-)

I've read them.  It didn't spoil the entire episode...there's a lot of information left out and not everything is right.  But it does give away a very huge plot point.  The person is spamming tumblr with it, too...posting the same thing over and over and without regards for the people who don't want to see it.  Not cool for someone to do that.

Glad you feel better, though.

My one fear is that one of the things "not right" is that

the person I was told last night who dies, is mentioned in the first sentence of this person's post as someone who survives. I hope that's true and this person doesn't really die. The part about Sherlock, though, I've gotten from other people, too, so I knew that already. And obviously the poster mentioned that the person who gave them the spoilers was deliberately coy on the Mary stuff, which I wish they hadn't been. Still hoping someone will leak that one.

Yes, definitely not cool.  Obviously an account that was made entirely for this purpose, too, as that's the only thing on their whole page.

Ten lines of dialogue from His Last Vow:

» "This is blackmail."

» "What case could possibly justify this?"

» "You do not own me."

» "Stay out of my bedroom."

» "One more push."

» "No, we’re not playing this game."

» "I was waiting until we were married."

» "Red beard."

» "I have an excellent memory."

» "Who’s Sherlock Holmes?"

If they have the classic soap opera BS plot where

John wakes up with amnesia and can't remember Sherlock... or Sherlock can't remember himself...

"One more push", so I guess we are several months in the future and Mary is delivering? I kind of hate that they always skip so far ahead in each episode.

"I was waiting until we were married." For what? To tell John whatever she's been keeping from him?

For the love of all that is holy, does anyone know how to control this white highlight thing that happens whenever you copy and paste text? The biggest problem is that once I finish the text paste, the highlight wants to continue to follow me around. I feel like all of my posts are a big mess!!

When pasting, instead of pressing [CTRL] + [V] (paste), press [CTRL] + [sHIFT] + [V] (paste as plain text)

With that out of the way, I have a suggestion. (I have only read spoilers on here so far)

What if John Watson DOES die?  It won't necessarily be the end of Holmes and Watson.

Mary has already shown she is intelligent (skip codes)

She has a medical background.

She has a good on screen chemistry with sherlock

maybe we will see Holmes and Mary Watson?

It's either that or maybe Irene dies?

Oh, Escribblings, BLESS YOU, sweetheart! You don't know how much that was bugging me! LOL

That's an interesting theory you've got. :)

Very interesting, but

they already have a female partner for Holmes on Elementary - don't think they'd copy that idea on Sherlock. And if they do, I think Molly has proven she'd do an excellent job. Apart from that, John must never die! And I am sure he won't. Really sure. Because for most people (including me) it would be the end of the show.

Not exactly spoilers here, but this post on tumblr has a fairly interesting theory as to what'll happen. And this Metro blogpost has 11 spoiler-free teasers.

Thanks for that, Caya! That metro thing was one I haven't seen yet, and there was some really interesting information in it! #11 cleared up something T.o.b.y and I were discussing in PM yesterday.

Another new couple of photos from HLV, found on DigitalSpy:

So, are our two lead men actually at Magnussen's place? In the villain's lair? Don't know, but I think it's great that there seems to be close interaction between Sherlock and John on one hand and Magnussen on the other - from what the trailer and some photos suggest. Should be chilling.

Hmmmm, considering Magnussen's alleged character, and that he's a blackmailer ...

Haha, YES!

I was actually just discussing with T.o.b.y in PM... I think I've decided to skip the live viewing tomorrow so I can read about it when people are discussing it in the HLV thread and spoil myself before I watch the actual episode. I would rather be spoiled than surprised. ;)

By the way, I just realized what's going on in that picture, and I'm horrified.  I just want to smash that clock against the wall with a broom, or anything with a long enough handle that I don't have to get near it.  :sofa:
