DVD/Blu-Ray Extras for Series 3

I'm really disappointed that there will be no documentaries.

Maybe you just "misspoke" -- there are three mini-documentaries listed on the DVDs, but there are no audio commentaries.

Near as I can tell, the Region 1 and Region 2 DVDs have (in the past) had the same content.

The special goodies that we're getting here in the US are shorter min-documentaries that are being run following the PBS broadcasts of Series 3.  They are apparently unique to PBS, and are not the same mini-docs that are on the DVDs.

Are we all sufficiently confused yet?

Ooh, what are you guys in the US getting??

Last night's little special after the episode was 'The Women of Sherlock'. Which featured interviews and scenes with Mary, Molly, Mrs. Hudson and Irene.

Aww, I'd love to see that! Molly and Mrs Hudson are fabby! Are these specials available online anywhere does anyone know?

Guys, sorry I have repeated posts here because I'm using my phone and it plays up and freezes and doesn't always update.

Thank you Karie for your reply. I have seen it now, AFTER I posted again! (Stupid phone internet!!!)

I'm really disappointed that there will be no documentaries. I'm still waiting for my dvds to be released in the US. You know what would be really great? Some deleted scenes and gag reels, but something tells me there won't ever be anything like that. :(

I love gag reels and all that. I think they'd be great on this too. Perhaps we should start a campaign to get Moftiss to release a separate DVD/Blu-Ray set of these!

Your wish is my command. ;) Here you go:

S03 Sherlock Uncovered: The Women

S03 Sherlock Uncovered: The Return

With English subtitles:

S03 Sherlock Uncovered: The Women (eng sub)

S03 Sherlock Uncovered: The Return (eng sub)

Just a reminder, the UK DVD/Blu-ray extras are here. :)

Yes, I meant to say commentaries, not documentaries!

I should have checked into this before I bought them, but I'm hoping the season 1 dvds that I added to the cart with season 3 are the full cut and not the shortened PBS versions. If they're shortened, I'm going to be super upset!

The PBS (i.e., Region 1) DVDs have the complete episodes -- at least, I can say for certain that the season 1 DVDs are complete, since that's what we have.  And I've never heard anything to the contrary regarding season 2.  The season 1 and 2 cuts were made only for broadcast purposes, to shoehorn 90 minutes of episode plus 8 minutes of blather into a 90-minute time slot.

If anyone else here in the US has ordered Series 3 DVDs from Amazon in the UK, have you received yours yet?

Ours were projected to be here on Wednesday the 29th, and have not arrived as of Friday's mail.

Added:  They arrived on Saturday!

Earendil, would you provide a link to the third Sherlock Uncovered ("The Villains") special video (preferably with subtitles) that aired after "His Last Vow" in the U.S. on Sunday night?

Thanks.

What I would really like is a link to download Sherlock Uncovered: The Villains so that I could use savefrom.net to copy the file.

Thanks.

Er, that link I posted allows for download (when it's up, which it isn't always, I'm afraid, but it worked fine just now). Look for the black arrow on the top left (under File).

I keep getting a Google Drive - Quote exceeded error message when I try to download the file.

As of 10 February, I still get this error.

For whatever reason, it worked on 11 February. :D

Oh [censored]. That happened to me the first time as well, so maybe it's just plain luck to hit it at a time when the quota's not exceeded.

As has already been noted, the Series 3 regular DVD set has no audio commentaries, but (in addition to the three episodes) it does have three extra features:

Fans, Villains & Speculation

Shooting Sherlock

The Fall

Does the Blu-Ray set have more?  And does anyone know whether the Series 1, 2, and 3 boxed set has anything in addition to what's been released for the three series separately?

If I'm remember correctly, the US dvds will be released day after tomorrow. Hopefully they won't take too long to get here. I've been keeping myself from watching any of season 3 again since a few days after HLV aired, because I want to do a full season re-watch when the dvds get here, and I didn't want to be burned out on them by then.

Of course, I woke up this morning and my tv (which is less than 2 years old) decided it was a good day to die (on Walking Dead day? Oh, h*ll no!!!) So I had to make a trip to Best Buy to get a new one.  :shoot:

Got it all hooked up so I'm all set for tonight and the arrival of my new dvds. I'm really interested to see how my perspective on the season changes now that a.) I have seen it in its entirety, and b.) I've distanced myself from the episodes for several weeks.

I've never pre-ordered from Amazon before.  Will they just ship it when it becomes available on or soon after the 11th?

They usually aim to ship so that the item arrives on the actual day of release. We've even had things turn up a day or two early before now. :)

Sherlockology has posted an illustrated guide to the contents of the Limited Edition Collector's Box Set.  They don't say anything in particular about the discs themselves, so I'm assuming they have the same contents as those sold separately -- but there are some other goodies, including this:

tumblr_n0s7vzFS9L1qkgkowo8_500.jpg

... a well bound facsimile of the shooting script for Sherlock S1E1 A Study in Pink, with reproduction signatures of Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. The script is half the size of the genuine article at A5 size.

Wonder if they'll ever sell just the scripts as a set?  I would jump at that, for sure!
