Oh I know many men and women look at porn and there are various issues around it, but it seems acceptable to ' Society'.

I didn't reckon it being Sherlock's thing, but hey, what do I know?!

It may not be, I think Magnussen projected himself onto people, a lot. He's that personality type. Nothing exists out side himself. He is the be all to end all. I mean really, licking Lady Smallwood's face?  Blech...and he did seem to like  "looking" at "naughty" pictures in his mind palace. Maybe he just assumed Sherlock did too.

By the way, thank you so much to all those people who have bothered to find out what Magnussen "reads" about his prospective victims when looking at them and shared that. I never managed to catch all of it while watching and with "Sherlock", I hate to stop the video in between; it kind of ruins the magic for me. I don't even like turning on the subtitles.

I think it was because how he could blackmaile people. If he could see some importent minister is into heavy porn and all perverted kinds of stuff, he could use that against them.. Everything is build up how to use things against people

Yeah. Uhmm. I always found that interesting too. Because Sherlock having "normal" porn habits is quite contradictory to how seriously he takes loading his brain with unnecessary information. Once you see it your brain records it. At the same time Sherlock does know how to delete things from his "hard drive".

 

However there are several things that's contradictory about him:

 

- there's no advantage in caring.. But its clear that he cares about a lot... Magnussen was able to see that... He had a list of pressure points where most had only 1 or 2. He's a very caring sociopath.

 

- He's Boffin Sherlock to the public, to himself he's the most hip guy on the planet.

 

There are other things... But I digress.

I think Sherlock just sees porn as another thing but I think with Irene Adler, it was her (big?) brain and the way she used it. If a normal (?} woman used her body to try to seduce him - it would probably go over his head (unless it was for a case!!!  )

According to Sherlock, that guy had "the right sleeve of an internet porn addict."  But how he could distinguish an internet porn addict from a generic web surfer, I have no idea.

Yeah, I'm not sure I want to know what kind of pornography any of the characters prefer (although it might be fun to guess... and I'm pretty sure that Irene's website was on Sherlock's list ). And I certainly do not want to know what Magnussen would classify as not normal porn.
