A better video. Funny, I didn't really recognized BC's voice and was wondering when he was singing. In this video you can actually see him... performing (singing is a bit too big word for this :P )... until he's pretending with a recorded voiceover... :lol4:

OMG. I heard it but thought it was Gilmour, because it sounded so much like the original vocals! Our BC is, as ever, a good mimic.

Took me a while, what with the display on my cellphone being so small, but I do believe I found him!

Just below the zodiac circle, right?

Right of it. Actually there seem to be a certain picture woven into the whole montage. (why do you write it as a spoiler? We don't give anything away - yet)

That was seriously not bad.  I've read some other reviews online that were fairly critical, and I was getting ready for it to be cringeworthy, but it was good!  I mean, obviously he hasn't performed it 10,000 times in concert, but I'm betting anyone from Pink Floyd would have a couple of stumbles doing Hamlet.

I'd go so far as to say I'd buy that as a single. (Is it out there?)  "Comfortably Numb" is one of my all time favorite songs, and "The Wall" is my favorite PF album, and this is a really nice rendition.

TBH, I was wondering first because I actually couldn't say that's not DG singing.

And anyway, many of the best musicians in the world cannot actually sing. Dylan. Knopfler. You can argue about Sting. Gilmore himself... :D

I'd buy it for the guitar solo. :d

I thought maybe some people would like to hunt for it themselves.

Omg, this was something new for me, because I haven't followed BC for a very long time. Nice performance and I would definitely like to hear him singing for real. :D Pink Floyd is a great band.

I posted a link somewhere in this thread with him singing a bit of opera in To the End of the World(?)

And he is probably just impersonating DG. He's very good at this.

He almost has to in order to make any kind of a reasonable job of singing "Comfortably Numb."  That's one of those songs that doesn't really lend itself to different interpretations; what you hear on the original recording is how it is expected to sound.  So, he did a really good job with replicating that sound.

Singing and dancing are part of the performing arts, so just like he mimics playing the violin, he can do the other stuff, but the recent Vanity Fair trick with the water bottle is on a whole other level! Talk about hidden talents! Relying on surface tension to such an extent is mind-blowing!

Posted

I don't see the trick as anything unusual. It's basic physics. I bet they needed several takes until it worked. :)

BTW, forgive my cynicism, but saving water where there's enough of it won't help those who suffer from lack of it.

I seem to have missed the water-bottle trick that you're talking about. Just in case I'm not the only one, could somebody give a brief description or a link?

Maybe it was the photographer's idea? At least that's what I would say if it were my photos... The magazine has to attract readers some way...

Couldn't get Inge's link to work, but here's one that did ... although the link to the video that's in it doesn't seem to function. Anyway, here's the whole article: http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2016/10/benedict-cumberbatch-cover-story

I would assume so, yeah. Although Ben seems to be pretty good at saying 'no' if it's something he's not comfortable with. (?) At any rate, I'm not complaining! :D
