I've recently tweeted with author Lynnette Porter - "Benedict Cumberbatch: In Transition" and "Benedict Cumberbatch: Transition Complete" and she says she has a 3rd book on BC that will be out next year.  Both of her books are really excellent, btw, and offer great scholastic analysis of his works (not so much of biographies, they focus on his work).

The first one covers up to about 2013 and the second one covers from 2013 through spring of 2014.  So, just past STID being released and S3 coming out - both of which she feels cemented his transition into superstardom.

And we should all join in wishing the peson who has made all this possible though sheer talent, hard work and perseverance a Very Happy fortieth birthday!

Given his level of success, I think the pain will be eased somewhat. :p

40 is the new 20, those who suggest otherwise are.. immature. :p

40 is still immature though, but it's in the more sophisticated class, immature adults.

I will never stop hoping that he keeps on beating gigantic teddy bear, eventhough he has to do it in slow motion one day so that he won't crack his hips.

If Mark doesn't stop to be so cute, I might indeed try to hug-attack him and one of those big bodyguards will break my neck. duck.gif

Oh, it was a Busman's birthday then! And such an important one to be spent away from Sophie and little CC, no number of fireworks and clapperboards and other sweet inane nothing's can make up for that separation! From personal experience, I know how that feels, since I was a little girl when my dad had to celebrate his fortieth birthday in the operating room, putting together an irresponsible youngster who had got drunk and then had smashed himself up on his motorbike. All home preparations gone to waste, and I was inconsolable. Like a better-natured Dr Watson, Dad took it in his stride, but still...

Did the kid survive, at least -- so that your father's efforts were not in vain?

Oh yes,Dear Carol! Dad was a very competent orthopaedic surgeon. Together with his best friend from med school, an expert in angioplasty, they put the poor blighter together again, NOT like Humpty Dumpty! Like little CC, I was left bereft on my Dad's fortieth birthday. Really, they should have let Benedict get home for a day and a half! They're making millions out of him and his charisma!

Glad to hear that at least it wasn't wasted effort!

Can't think I've ever had a job where they gave me my birthday off. I've heard of places that do, but I don't think they have the sort of scheduling problems that Hartswood does. And of course they'd have to do the same for everybody. Probably just not really doable in that sort of business.

So, the mercenary heart won over sentiment! They were about to wrap anyway! Instead of messages and fireworks, they could have scheduled the whole thing to wrap a day earlier or a day later and let their cash-maker celebrate with his family. Perfidious Albion, indeed!

Baker Street Babes seem to think it's wrapping soon, if not already.  Which day is the Sherlock panel at SDCC?  They'd just about have to wrap well before that.  (Hoping for three more clue words!)

Added:  But Sherlockology has no official news since the wrap for Episode 2.

People without big bodyguard may still break your neck if there is a hug attack from stranger. :D

Go for elaborate foolproof long-term master plan; befriend him, get invited to his social and private function, get him to need your companion, then refuse his hug multiple times. After all that, I guarantee you can safely attempt the hug attack. :p

Maybe I speak for myself, but for some people, birthday is just another day. We don't need special day to celebrate, any day will do. They don't just cater for him, but there are many other crews involved and scheduling between those can be a pain. I don't think he minds, proven by his attendance.

My previous workplace implements birthday off, of course, they started it on the year I left :p, the same time they started cutting working hours too. Dang! For one thing, extra day off is good, and another thing, it's especially good to avoid those birthday 'necessity'. But then I remember why I quit that place, I was bored because there were not enough things to keep me busy. Stupid? XD

My previous workplace implements birthday off [....] I remember why I quit that place, I was bored because there were not enough things to keep me busy.

Which is why they were able to let people take off on their birthdays -- nobody was actually needed there all the time anyhow.

I don't think Hartswood can afford that luxury. They seem to run a pretty lean operation.

When they were doing a special casting in June, they needed a specific type of actor for 5 weeks of filming. Week 5 is next week.

It can't be as lean as the schedule of Cabin Pressure :D

Now tell me how to do this in 30 minutes.

Usually people need weeks to realize I am a human being, not a monster that will bite your head off if you come closer. :(
