Oh yes, I though it was from the new season, sorry!

BC appears (briefly) in a new music video. I've never heard of Elbow, but I quite like the song.

What we were saying about him being a chameleon, I just realised what it is that makes him so different in The Imitation Game. He often has his head tilted down and his lower jaw pushed back, giving him a weaker chin, you can effectively see him doing it here. His mannerisms etc obviously make him look different overall, but it's the chin that makes him look more awkward and geeky. Pretty impressive to do a whole film like that - try holding it for a while, it's not comfortable.

Also he was wearing some sort of prosthetic in his mouth (over the teeth, I think maybe? I forget.) But yeah, primarily acting.

Was he? Didn't know that. I couldn't figure out why I would him so much less attractive than usual. I still think it's hilarious the above picture and Khan are the same person, it's like a Clark Kent/Superman situation where you could actually believe people thinking they are different people.

Still listening to Cabin Pressure, I don't think his voice is higher, I think it's actually his normal voice but he makes it lower when he's playing his heroic/villainous characters. No hero or villain is complete without an impressive voice. ;)

What an actor! It's really impressive

P.S. the first time I saw Ben was in The Imitation Game, I started watching Sherlock pretty late, so that was the first time I could admire his incredible ability :o :wub:

That must have been a bit of a surprise :D

Completely! But I think Ben can do very very good everything he does. I love him ahahaha

Kind of a contrarian opinion here, but I find that I've lost a bit of interest in BC's work since Sherlock ended.  I spent quite a bit of time wanting to see every project he was involved in, but right now I'm in an odd place where I feel like maybe what I wanted to see was more Sherlock and I was using the other work as a proxy to get some of that entertainment value.  I'm going to have to make a point of seeing some of his post-Sherlock projects and see how I feel, but this is just an odd reaction on my part.

I still haven't seen Dr Strange, so I wasn't interested in that. I don't know what he's in next, I just get my info from here. :D

Next up in no particular order.

Thor: Ragnarok

Avengers: Infinity War

The Current War (as Thomas Edison)

How The Grinch Stole Christmas (it's mo-cap animated)

Jungle Book (also mo-cap)

And a few others that I can't remember off the top of my head. But those listed all come out between now and end of 2018 assuming no delays.

I wish Hollywood would stop bringing out doubles of things, we've already had one Jungle Book, that's enough for now.

Looks like a lot more Dr Strange then :( I suppose I might like the film if I watch it, just not really that into the magic side of things.

Jungle Book just happened to be 2 different projects from 2 different studios being worked on at the same time. Disney just happened to release theirs first. And Benedict's version was had the release delayed a year to allow a gap.

Yea, I get the how, I just wish they wouldn't do it.

Lack of communication between studios can do that.

I suppose if Disney holds the rights to their version maybe this version will be closer to the book - though I'm not sure how big the differences are. I think I read it but when I was younger but can't remember.

Ha! I could take Irene's riding crop to the idiot programming managers who thought it would be fun to broadcast Endeavour ( young DCI Morse) an hour earlier than Sherlock from January 8! Twice, I had to abandon one of the best-crafted crime series in the middle to watch Sherlock being abused by his alleged best friend and Mycroft losing some of his aura of omnipotence in this shambles of a fourth series!

Teeth gnashing and throwing things at the TV don't help in situations like these.

Anyway, with that schedule, it's not going to be easy to fit in three months' worth of filming a putative S5.

Talking of Dr Strange, it's one of the best Origins films, even though it's Marvel.

But Benedict's acting range is better captured in things like The Imitation Game, Parade's End, Amazing Grace, Atonement, The War Horse. He shines in period pieces.

I think I know what you mean, of the projects listed below, not one of them excites me, although I'll go see the Marvel movies because I like that genre. But I gobbled up his pre-Sherlock movies. But I think there was more variety in those roles. I still would give a lot to see him in something funny, and The Current War might prove to be more interesting than it, er, currently sounds.

Oh, we can add to that list the animated movie Magick, I think that's due out fairly soon, isn't it? But I want to watch BC, not just listen to  him!

If it helps ... there's magic in it, but it doesn't take place in a fantasy world. Well, it does, of course, but I mean it looks like our world, it's not full of orcs and unicorns.

The only thing I've seen for his movie Magick was a Christmas Day 2016 release in Canada. Apparently that has changed. Nice to know.

Well, frack, IMDB now shows the release date for Magik (no "c", apparently) isn't until 2018. Wonder what that's about. Afraid of seeming too much like Dr. Strange, maybe? And I no longer see any mention of "War Magician". Hmmmm, too many similar-sounding projects, maybe.

Yeah, not much on that list really turns my crank.  I will also go see the Marvel movies because I like the genre as well, but I find I don't much care about BC's role in them.  Unfortunately, I'm much more of an "origin story" girl when it comes to the superhero movies, so once Dr. Strange was created, he doesn't really grab my imagination the way Iron Man or Hulk do.

I didn't like very much of BC's pre-Sherlock work, TBH.  It wasn't a reflection on his ability, but a lot of times I just really didn't connect with the story of the films, and I found them to be, for me, a lot of time invested just to see his performance.  I did like TIG and the Hollow Crown.  I'll see TCW, but I think I'll wait for it to hit Netflix; it just doesn't seem worth $12.50.

I think the magic in the 'real world' is what puts me off. I can accept it in things like Harry Potter, or LOTR where it's another world where magic exists and that's fine. But in the marvel world I already accept gods, superhumans, mutants etc etc, and accepting magic into that world as well just feels like too much.

Apart from Star Trek I can't honestly say I'm a fan of any of his films - the ones I've seen. I think he's an amazing actor but the storylines of most of them just haven't appealed to me.

What about Sherlock in that regard? Now that they've apparently finished his backstory, do you have any interest in watching him and John solve crimes?

(Just for the record, that's exactly what I'm hoping for in future series. :D )

Same here. I'm ready to see what Moftiss & Co. can do with it next.

I loved most of BC's pre-Sherlock work! Although I confess I've never been able to make myself sit down and watch "Parade's End", it doesn't sound like my kind of story at all, and it looks endless, and I'd have to pay for it. But I loved Hawking, the "Stuart" one, the Ends of the Earth, Third Star ... forget what else. Oh, didn't care much for Warhorse. And I was going to like the Star Trek movie whether he was in it or not, he was just a bonus.

I even liked The Last Enemy, although I agree with BC that it needs editing. But I like that "day after tomorrow" kind of cautionary tale. Loved the Van Gogh one. Oh, oh, and I really liked Amazing Grace before I even knew who he was! I watched it because of the other actor who's name I forget, and, yeah ... I really liked it.

So there. :p

Well, heck. Give it a try anyway. :d
