Apparently I need to be logged into WordPress in order to view that image.  (I do have an old account, but no idea how to get into it!)

What does it show?

God, I'm slow, since no one mentioned a baby I've only just clicked what you're all talking about.

It was announced formally around the premiere of Doctor Strange in LA that they were expecting #2 as Sophie was noticeably pregnant then.  Nice to know that they have had their 2nd little guy.  He's probably really cute.

You cannot see the pic? Ugh. Need to re-think the Wordpress-as-a-pic-storage thing. It basically shows the announcement made by Sherlocked Twitter account with a photo of the couple

When I went to the link it said I needed to be logged in and a member to see the image. So if there is someway to make it public, that might solve the issue as I use a self-hosted Wordpress for my images.

And thanks Arcadia for cleaning up after me again

You're welcome, but that was Carol, not me. :p I abandoned y'all for "Beauty and the Beast."

Sorry to be here and saying I actually have no interest whatsoever with any baby or BC's personal life eventhough I like him. I just click to see if he has new work that I might be interested and also want to stir a bit of trouble with this:

Dear VBS, the names of BC's children reflect on his friendships, after all: when the media say he and Martin Freeman don't get along, he goes and names the first boy Christopher, which is Freeman's middle name, and when he goes to work with Hiddleston, even if they don't share scenes, as Loki and Dr Strange, he names the second Hal, from the sublime performance of his friend in Henry IV. Methinks, Benedict likes to honour his friendships.

This is only one of the "theories".

Mine is: Christopher is the name Turing gave to his machine, and Hal is the computer from 2001. Benedict is a great fan of Kubrick, he even wrote a paper about him.

Sound great, both theories, and thanks for explaining, really.

But.. but.. I still don't have any interest in celebrity's personal life.. .. :p

But I am the one who don't belong, so I eject myself. :)

I highly doubt his children's names have anything to do with his friendships. I'm also here for what work he's doing rather than his personal life, which is why it took me a while to get what everyone was talking about. I don't mind vaguely knowing what's going on but, like Sherlock, I'm here for the work. ;)

Just curious -- is Hal a common name in the UK?  I've only ever known one person who was (kinda) named Hal.  His given name was Harry, but his pen name was Hal.  So you could tell where people knew him from by what they called him.

Only Hal I've ever heard of is 'Shallow Hal.' None in real life.

And I had a theory that Christopher was after Christopher Tietjens, the role BC played in Parade's End, and Hal was from Henry V (Shakespeare)... not sure why I thought that though...

Shocking, isn't it? But the truth is, I am such an awesome friend that I am willing to sit through all that fluff because my two friends needed the distraction. They loved it; I tolerated it; my mom forgot she saw it as soon as we left the theater. These days, I'd call that a successful outing.

Seriously, I thought I would like it better than I did, I generally like musicals and it was getting fantastic reviews. Although I remember I didn't like the animated version very much. The live version shares the same problem; not much plot. My friends were over the moon about it, though, and there were several good performances, and several good laughs, so I'm content.

I loved Beauty and the Beast. I'm actually surprised that you're so neutral about it.

Actually watching Beauty and the Beast gave me an analogy about why I hate the montage at the end of the TFP.

Namely?

You'll probably think it's stupid but the ending of TFP that basically goes from Eurus' bedroom to a happy montage would be like going directly from the Beast dying from his injuries to Belle/Prince dancing to the title song with the what 2 minute sequence in between being cut (i.e. The last petal falling, Belle confessing her love for Beast, Beast converting back to Prince, their first kiss/embrace). You'd know from the dance that it all happened but the audience wouldn't be getting the love story payoff by not seeing it happen. That's what the end of TFP was like for me. There was no real payoff for watching 4 years of Sherlock. I'm told he's now a good man but I don't actually see it in action, I'm told that Molly's unbelievably happy with being a friend to Sherlock despite her being in love with him even though I have no idea why she would, I see Sherlock playing violin with Eurus but I don't know why he would given what's she done to him, I'm told they're happy as clams but I have no idea how their lives have changed that would make them that happy. That's the best way I can explain it.

I liked the live Beauty and the Beast, but I loved the older animation- I thought that was a masterpiece (of the sort of thing that it is).

Totally get what you are saying about the pay-off, gerry, that was a bit missing for me too.
