Now I'm looking at the history of the preliminary rounds:

 

 

In the quarter-finals, Cumberbatch beat Gatiss (who had beat Brealey in the first round), Freeman beat Abbington, and Gervais beat Pulver.  Russell Tovey ("Henry Knight") lost the first round to Graham Norton -- but was later avenged by Pulver.

 

They clearly seeded this so that it could not come down to an all-Sherlock quarter-finals.

So if BC wins this round, we have to choose between him and either Tennant or Hiddles. OUCH.

Well perhaps that was overstating it a little, but it would seem that Ricky Gervais (who I really like, is a funny funny man and an incredible advocate for animals) might actually beat Ben in:

I've been voting for Ben for about 90 minutes...  watched his pointage go up by 10... then drop, then go back up... but there are some Tennant fans out there doing rapid fire voting too... Acck!  Cumberbitches and Cumbercollection need to get their collective bitch on and vote like maniacs!

I agree -- though it's hard to be sure whether multiple votes actually count.  You'd think they'd use cookies or something to keep track of who's already voted, and not give them another chance, just show them the current percentages instead.

Yup, the last day to cast a vote is this coming Wednesday -- but don't wait till Wednesday, because the cut-off is pretty early in the day (especially if you're a few thousand miles west of London.
