I don't know what can be done about it.

Move to a different planet!  :alien:

Or -- collect DVDs like Alex and I do.  We hardly watch anything that's being broadcast any more.

Yeh, but don't you get tired of them? I do. I have acres of things I haven't watched for years, even though I still love them.

Because I am moving in 3.5 weeks, I have taken all my DVDs out of their original cases and reduced the volume of bulk down by about 90%.  Yeah, I pitched the cases.  Gasp!!!   But I honestly can't store them.  So now I have them in a more manageable stack that I can take with me.  Of course, now we have this new expanded Sherlock Series 1-3 with extra bonuses, and I'm thinking, crap, I really want that but I am going to be on the road.  What the heck am I going to do with it????  I think I'll just stick with what I've downloaded on ITunes.

We hardly have time to get tired of anything, since we keep acquiring more.  I suppose that's the main problem with our system -- all the drawers in our TV stand are full of DVDs now, and we really need to get a special "bookcase" for them.  But so far it seems like the best solution for us.

This would be fun to wear when you are having tea with Benedict and Andrew, but you might need to lay down a lot of loot to get it.

I wonder at the person that buys it, what will they do with it?

Aw, his signature is sealed with a kiss!

My solution as well, Carol.  My bookcases floweth over !  The trend towards "reality" shows has me scratching my head daily.  I see advertisements for shows about storage lockers and pawn brokers and people shoveling mud and more and I can't for the life of me figure out who would watch them.  Everybody does, of course, so, once again, it's me who's out of step.    Raising Asia ... YIKES !   Duck Dynasty is a special favourite where I work.  One of my colleagues is getting married this month and her fiance is incorporating elements of this show into his wedding attire.  And I say ... what ???  :o I've never watched it, though ... so I know I shouldn't be pointing a finger at those who do.  I've never watched Survivor or anything of that sort either.  I watch TV to get away from reality, I guess.  If I want to watch people bitching at each other I can take a walk in the mall.

Maybe I'm not as open minded as I think I am bit while I do not believe in censorship, I would like to be able for kids to be able to turn on a tv without being bombarded with a lot of the asinine stuff that passes for acceptable portrayals of American culture and norms.

What really bothers me is that if good ol' Murrica is so into not swearing, why the %&*$ would there be a zillion and a half tv shows with swearing and aggressive makeout scenes and explicit romance?!

Now excuse me, I gotta go undercover. the FBI's a-comin'.

My family does not believe in CDs. We believe in Netflix and the late Megashare and other such things.

There's always PBS.

May the Powers That Be bless PBS ... even if the Buffalo channel does bleep the swear words on the British shows.  At least they have the British shows and not too many people shoveling muck !  ;)   Their travel shows are great, too !   :D  I'm currently in conflict with Netflix, I'm afraid ... it would require really bad language to describe it.

I am likewise bewildered by the popularity of "reality" programs (though I can see why the networks and sponsors would love 'em).  But I don't suppose either you or I would see anything particularly odd about a couple getting married in Sherlock-inspired attire.

The groom in a bedsheet and the bride wearing her "battle dress" with spike heels?   Well, even I would consider that a bit silly (especially the spike heels!).  But just about anything else from the show would seem perfectly reasonable to me, and presumably downright silly to the Duck folk.

  LOL !  To each his (or her) own, I guess.  ;)

Thanks for that link, Debbie!  I just watched the Imitation Game trailer at the bottom of the page, and am even more interested in that movie than ever.

BC won another award, this time the TV Choice best actor award, which he arranged for his parents to accept (Sherlock also won the best drama award :D ):

Oh dear that was an awkward question at TIFF, but in true Benedict style he turned it around and spoke  eloquently on the  subject of the movie and the man and the work that the movie was about.  There are questions that are just inappropriate and that was one.

When we were lining up for the photos and autographs with Benedict back in April, we were told that we were to be polite and not ask inappropriate questions or propose marriage all of  which I thought was hilarious, really it should go without saying, but it seems that some people need to be told.

Kudos to Benedict in handling it like a professional.

and one more thing I noticed the startings of the beard and moustache are gone   :o .

Would you care to explain? I have no idea what you are referring to, not owning a TV an' all...

This is probably very silly of me, because I know they get paid a fortune and they knew full well what they were getting themselves into when they chose this career, but I always feel terribly bad for actors or singers etc when I hear about them having embarrassing fan encounters. It makes me cringe. I'd hate being famous. Thank goodness the chances that I ever will be are close to zero.

I haven't seen the footage either.

But apparently there were 2 incidents: one with a journalist asking a stupid question.

Then with a stupid woman asking if she could taste Benedict's yumminess.

I shall refrain from comment, as I can't do so without swearing.

Except I really wish people would show Benedict some respect.

Here is the silly woman's question. BC is SUCH a class act.

Watch how the rest of the cast reacts before he responds, it's cute.

I'm looking for the complete Q&A, but there's like a million TIFF videos at the moment to choose from.

ADDED:

Another version of the same thing, where you can see their reactions better (still cute) but you can't hear a thing.

Annnd... I've put together the rest of the above Q&A session, plus a couple interviews, on the Imitation Game thread, starting here.

Haven't found a really good print article yet, I'll let someone else do that. :P

Oh god. I have no idea what she meant by 'yumminess' but I'm still cringing. Must be one of those obsessive fans who give us fangirls/boys a bad name, eh?
