You just changed your ringtone to "Stayin' Alive" just in anticipation of your phone ringing during class, so that you can give an exaggerated eye-roll and say, "Do you mind if I get that?"

Ah no! Never in class, I switch it off then to be a good example to the students, but otherwise mine has always been The Imperial March, John Williams, which has the added advantage of making everyone who hears it jump a little

When you are in your online Bible study and are distracted by the Sherlock Cluedo game in the box next to you.  And you know that you won't be able to look inside the Cluedo box for another 8 hours when you finally get home for the day (keeping it sealed to keep the pieces in).

When you actually start speeding up in class, because you are so used to his rate of delivery, that you get blank stares and have to remind yourself that they are ordinary twenty-somethings , or when they ask a stupid question and you inwardly seethe" Why can't people just think!"

And you are terrified that one day, instead of giving an encouraging, "Absolutely - good answer," you're going to respond with "Obviously."

What do you teach, Joanneta1?

GMAT verbal, GRE verbal, TOEFL, IELTS, European History, which was where I got my MA, by the way. "Obviously", perhaps not, but "Elementary" most definitely, it has happened quite a few times

I actually did say, "That's what people do!" one time recently.  I was able to stop myself in the middle enough to finish the sentence in a normal tone of voice instead of giving the full Moriarty delivery.

Goodness, what do all those acronyms stand for?

Looks like 2 grad school entrance exams then 2 English as a foreign language courses, plus the history.

When you play "drop the needle" on the episodes because you know exactly what you need to hear and exactly where it is (not possible so much on a DVD but definitely possible when the episodes are downloaded through ITunes).

When you hear Rossini's Thieving Magpies in a commercial for some film that doesn't interest you and the first thing that comes to mind is Moriarty in TRF. Love Andrew's choreography at the Tower of London.

Can't you deduce: any of his darker shirts CAN be a nail polish, take your pick: purple, grey-green, slate grey, gunmetal grey, even black! If you add the vari-coloured dressing gowns as well you get blue, plum, dun or sand, you name it, essie has probably got it in their palette.

It is nail polish with entertaining Sherlock themed names.  So far I own the following polishes:

Mind Palace

Lost Without My Blogger

Suddenly, I'm Mr. Sex

We All Do Silly Things

Next up, I think I'm going to purchase:

So Changeable

Start with the Riding Crop

Am I Ginger (Doctor Who)

Time and Relative Dimension in Space (Doctor Who)

Basically if you give nail polish a cutesy name based on a show I love, I'm sure to buy it.  :)  I also own some Peanuts themed nail polish from OPI.

Yes!  I'm always scrolling the Netflix versions, going "OK, I just need minute 32....."

I've bought from https://www.etsy.com/shop/LynBDesigns?section_id=13643726

Although, I've found other folks via google who make similar themed polishes, so I may have to buy some of those too. :)

ETA: She had a Fires of Gallifrey, or something like that, that I really wanted but it seems it has been discontinued. :(

Thank you, sittything, just had a look and the colours confirmed what I said above, although they seem to go in for a lot of marbled effect, and I can hear someone's voice going : "Not really my thing".

That voice you would hear would be mine.

Hi smpfco, tried to like but today I seem to have reached a maximum (no idea what that is) so have to reply: your voice I would love to hear, for sheer pleasure at its timbre, but I was thinking of a male baritone one when I posted my reply

Whatever, guys.   ;)

Nail polish has never been my thing although I admire those who can carry it off.  I just can't be bothered with it.

You know, I never was either until this last year.  Well, I've always painted my toes, but fingernails always chipped too easily and it seemed like too much hassle.  But then I found these stupid themed polishes and for some reason I HAD TO HAVE THEM!!!!!  OMG LOOK AT THE NAMES!!!   SQUEEEE!!!

So in my determination to totally make this happen, I researched tips on how to remove nail polish more quickly (once it chips), and researched how to apply polish better so it doesn't chip as fast, and researched brands of base coat and top coat b/c OMG WHY ARE MY NAILS STILL TACKY 15 MINUTES LATER!!!!  So I bought a better base coat and top coat and honed my nail routine to where it doesn't take very long now.  And I almost find the fingernail painting in front of the TV strangely cathartic.  I don't know who I am anymore, honestly.  lol   But no worries, I'm still side-eyeing myself over here.  :)

This show does strange things to all of us.

You know you're obsessed when you're still prowling this forum even though it's well past the time to start making dinner. Looks like frozen pizza tonite, if I want to eat. Well, maybe I can hold out until it cooks ....
