Where are you getting these fictional characters personality types? I hope I turn out to be like, oh, I don't know ... Legolas.

That list is self-assigned by various websites on the web. VBS asked about some so I googled a bit. Mind you, John Glover's Lionel Luthor is largely typed as ENTJ but some of his actions are emotionally resonate with me so he made it into the list.

Legolas? The gorgeous elf with long platinum blonde hair? *fan girl's grin*

Okay, I found a site like you were talking about, and I've never heard of most of those people!

However, there were a few I knew, and they're pretty cool! So apparently I am like:

Daniel Jackson from Stargate

Data from Star Trek

Fox Mulder from X-Files

Roy Neary from Close Encounters

(why are they all sci-fi characters???)

I read on TV tropes that I belong in the same category as Obi Wan Kenobi. I like that. They also had Rei from NGE on "my" list and I must say, back when I was into Anime as a teen, she was quite a favorite.

Better and better! On another site, they had Galadriel and Captain Picard from Star Trek as INFJ as well. That's pretty good company so far.

For giggles, here's another infamous example of INTJ, Paul von Oberstein. I dare you to type him as another complete with explanation! :p

Almost forgot. Van Buren Supernova, which result did you get from 16personalities, A or T?

Double post. I try to hide this via mobile, hope it work.

So I took the personality quiz that Van Buren posted.  It put me as an INFP-A  Up there with Shakespeare, Tolkien, & Hiddleston among other famous people & Frodo, Anne of Green Gables, Mulder, Deanna Troi, & Wesley Crusher for the fictional ones.  I know Frodo & Anne kind of.  The other 3 I've only heard of only because I'm not much a Trekkie even if I have seen several episodes of ST:TNG that the last 2 are in.

Mostly accurate although I'm very analytical which tends not to be common for people who are creative.

Most are likely same as yours. Lionel Luthor from Smallville, Lex Luthor, Michael Corleone from The Godfather, Daenerys Targayen, Jean Luc Picard, etc.

By the way, this is an article with self-explanatory title mandywallace.com/the-character-most-writers-get-wrong/ IMHO, not only most writers get it wrong but also most often misunderstood by the audience!

Oh fellow INTJ..! Hi there :)

Is it true that it's the rarest type especially for women? Maybe all of us actually end up here?

I consistently get INTJ since years ago, and like many have mentioned, the analysis is accurate. The more I read, the more I realize, whoa, people who put up with me are angels. It doesn't help that I also always Choleric Melancholic, either stubborn arrogant or perfectionist sarcastic jerk. :)

If I don't sound guilty, blame the INTJ..

I never google it, after the test, they usually put up real famous people and fictional characters who share the same trait with you.

So, do you get Legolas? (I'm anti fan-girl for Legolas actually, but then again, for everyone, except THAT one who breaks the system and destroys the balance of universe)

It says INTJ-A.

Is there a meaning to the A (or T)?

No it doesn't

A - Assertive, T - Turbulent. I might want to try just which combination give A and which is T. angel-skype-smiley.gif

Don't know for sure about the rarest type for woman but 0.8% from all still yield a big number, lol.

This forum gathered a lot of nerds who like to dive deep beneath the surface and analyse the result to bits, is it a wonder that there is a high concentration of us here? ;)

What do you get? T?

You are right, it's not. This is indeed the place to release all the nerdness.

:)

Come to think of it, I don't know any female INTJ in real life (own unreliable asumption) and I don't know a lot of female Choleric (they do the test.. I have the test book back then when internet was not readily available and it was a hit, even in current office when I leave them laying around for bait XD after a friend borrowed it)

I got A too, although given how I act here T might be more suitable :p

Same, I meet fellow female INTJs usually on the web. In RL, mostly (unpleasant) encounters with the queen bee type -_-

.... I almost ask you for link for the test that produced a combination result instead just one. Hunting now, be right back.

Sherlock, INTP or ISTP, what do you think? ^^

There are too many valid arguments.  And the INTJ's argument about Sherlock actually being that seems valid.  I definitely agree with the I and the T.  It is possible that he is low S/N and low P/J that both come out for each trait.

 The other day, I told an colleague of mine the story of how I was made to take an IQ test at university and the result was that I was supposed to be too dumb to even be there. Very flatteringly, he said he didn't believe that and speculated that my motivation must have been merely very low that day.

So I decided to try again. And here's what happened:

Me, lying on the sofa, browsing the internet: "IQ-test.. IQ-test... where do we find one that's reliable? Hmmm. Oh, Mensa! Yeah, they should know. Let's do theirs. Okay, let's see. Numbers... Type in the number that follows logically after... what? What's this, f***ing math? Who cares what number follows? Three hundred billion gazillion. Whatever. Next. 1,1,2,3,5,8... wait, this one I know. That was in a book I had as a kid that was supposed to make math less scary for me, only the main character was a devil, so it didn't really help. Anyway, I remember, the next number is 13. This isn't logic, though, this is just education + memory. What's that got to do with intelligence? Who cares. Next. More numbers! This is giving me a headache. I'll just skip these for now and move on. Okay, what do we have here. Shapes. And multiple choice! Yay, this is like uni. Okay, the one that fits here would be... this funny triangle... and here... this square with the dot... man, why is all this stuff so abstract and meaningless? Why am I doing this again? This would be a lot more fun with, I don't know. Animals. Flowers. Or bones. Why don't they have anything with bones? None of this means anything to me. It isn't even a nice challenge, it just feels like a waste of time. What comes next here? How should I know? These images are teeming with dots and squares and arrows and they're terribly ugly and also too small. Some colors would make this better, too. Why is it all black and white? For color-blind people? That makes sense, actually. Will this never end?
Oooops, time is up! Okay, result? Result: "It is highly unlikely that you qualify for Mensa. We do not advise you to take our full... Yeah, who said I wanted to join your elitist little club? No, I'm not talking about sour grapes here, I just want a score! Where's my score? Are you telling me I did all this for nothing? Aaaargh!

So it seems I'm still stupid, but they can't tell me exactly how stupid.

I wonder whether it wouldn't be possible to program a computer to solve all those problems, and it would do so faster than any human ever could. Why do we measure intelligence as the brain's ability to work like a computer? Oh, but someone would have to write the program, though. That person would have to be really smart. Is that what smart people do all day? Write programs that tell you which number comes next and which ugly black square with an ugly black dot belongs to this ugly pattern?

I give up. I am both dumb and not motivated. I'll tell my colleague my IQ is unquantifiable because of an obfuscating layer of chronic non-motivation. Where's my chocolate?"

I am so grateful nobody made me take one of those tests when I applied for university. Or my job! It's funny now but I dread to think what would happen if anything I wanted actually depended on my result.

My siblings and I got my dad a Mensa puzzle book years ago.  They had an IQ test at the beginning.  I know I did that test more than once over the years.  The only reason why I completed it is that I found the concept fascinating despite the black and white only of all the graphics.

Looks like standard IQ tests only measured certain kinds of intelligence. Funny thing is, some of them can be taught until become habit and might decline with time if not being exercised regularly.

We know now that there are more in what is collectively called as intelligence than pattern recognition, spatial-visual etc. Sorry forgot the rest, looks like I have the memory of a gnat. ^^

Howard Gardner identified 7 types of intelligence:  Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Rhythmic/Musical, Visual/Spatial, Logical, Linguistic, Kinesthetic.  Google seems to be name an 8th too, Naturalistic?  But I can't say I remember that from my studies.

Also, what exactly is the point of Mensa?  Other than a feather in your cap.  Or is it to find other smarties to talk to so you're not bored to tears by the rest of us goldfish?   I guess I've just never understood the rationale behind it.

I'd never heard the term "naturalistic intelligence" either, so of course I had to google-fu it; this site says it's one of Gardner's principles too. Since I've never heard of Gardner either that doesn't signify anything to me :p, but I like the description; I think I may have a little of that. As little as anyone, as they say.....

No, I think it's just the feather. Says this goldfish.
