That site also says there's a 9th one, Existential. Ooooooo, gotta get me some of that too, just cuz it sounds so cool!

I think they're just making stuff up now.  lol

ETA:  I'm going to make one up called "Internet surfing intelligence."   I'm profoundly gifted at that.

I'd never know the diff, that's for sure! I do think it's helpful to recognize that there are different kinds of intelligences, though. Especially for kids who struggle in school, for example -- it's really unreasonable to expect every peg to fit into the same hole. Doesn't stop us from trying to pound them in, I'm afraid.

Also, what exactly is the point of Mensa? Other than a feather in your cap. Or is it to find other smarties to talk to so you're not bored to tears by the rest of us goldfish? I guess I've just never understood the rationale behind it.

Feather in your cap.... a slang that I never heard.. is that mean something meaningless/just for show off or something useless?

Agree if it is. Literally I think feather in the hat doesn't look cool at all.... XD

Agree wholeheartedly.

On the other note (quite relevant I insist XD) I remember in uni my lecturer wanted us to fully understand the term deconstruction (not the language, but how it's applicable to our study subject).

He didn't tell us anything before hand, everyone is supposed to bring an object to class. So there it was, my classmates brought paperbag, clothing item, etc. Then he said, "okay.. today you are going to learn what is deconstruction in here. Now.. disassemble the object you bring and make it into something else."

I stood there dumbfounded, finally I approached the lecturer, showed him my object, and asked ,"how am I supposed to

disassemble this?"

He is a cool, well respected, serious lecturer who hardly speak or smile but I swear he cracked up noisily for at least twenty seconds, in between saying,"I don't know.. your problem."

A feather in your cap is more like bragging rights ... if you have an accomplishment, you put a feather in your cap so everyone else knows about it. So in that sense, yes -- just for show off!

Soooo .... how DID you deconstruct it? Or did you fail that lesson? :D

I passed. The only one granted to change my object. XD

giggle-skype-smiley.gif Yours is 'repurpose-only' kind of object.

Did. he said 'physical deconstruction' or merely 'deconstruction'?

Posted

Physical deconstruction, no doubt. My classmate can turn the paperbag into pulp if they want to, and clothes into string.

Ohya, quiz...!

Hmmm.. it doesn't seem to be my fault, I merely ride on the 'Off-topicness'

This looks soooooo much like me. :D

ETA: I didn't meant that I look like the tool above, nor that I'm made of steel (I wish!)

It's just a thing I would bring to the class, especially if the class were mostly females.

If he didn't specifically said 'physical deconstruction' then technically it is a massive loop hole for the twisted minds. :p

I wanted to say, Of course we know that is not what you meant!

Then I look around and see who would be more likely to make that joke, oops..it's me. XD

You should be there, at least I didn't look like the only weirdo standing in front of class holding that spanner.

There were slightly more males in the class, but nope, they didn't bring anything like that, or even a common daily stationary like cutter, scissor.

Wait, didn't mean to say you are a weirdo, you did mention you are good in fixing things, so it's just right you have that. On the other hand, I'm good in breaking things, so I don't know why the heck I had that kind of object in my daily hostel life back then (where space and personal stuff are limited).

I am free to choose to stick with that, but there is nothing I could do with the resources I had. Couldn't even bend it. XD

For function, oh yes, I can think of other usages, like concussion maker device. But it had to look totally different, we need to destroy it from its current function before making it into new object with new functionality.

I mean is to make that one into a part of something else depends on what available at the moment. Like Lego pieces.

Not allowed. XD

We could only use the object.

Exceptions are glue, thread, something insignificant to put the new objects together.

Actually, in fact, the spanner is very suitable object if I had access to suitable machineries. It could be melted and shaped to many other objects with many different purposes.

Total and perfect deconstruction. Oh well.

Posted

*grins* With some glue and threads then that object could become a backbone for an objet d'art. The deconstruction of course mainly in the original purpose and secondary in the recognizable form of it.

An article about MBTI and its role in everyday life. I definitely agree with the " Sao considers these meetups therapeutic, as participants get a chance to vent about how family, friends, and coworkers of dissimilar types can’t understand why they act the way they do" line.

Well, as usual I'm the oddball ... no matter what version I've taken, I've always come out an INTP! :D

You should be in my class too. We could make a giant destructive robot as long as that spanner is part of that.

We could justify that deconstruction = con + destruction.

I don't mind getting an F but imagine the expressions and everyone would thank us for unforgettable lecture.. XD

If yes, yay... but later, pssst.. I am at work now..

Nope, just an article about it. Get back to work! :D

Whenever I've taken this test, I've come out as INFJ, and the description mostly fits me too. If I look at the details, though, I usually find that only the "I vs E" part is very strong, for the rest I'm usually something like 60/40% and for "J vs P", it's almost 50/50.

Posted

Similar; I'm something like 51 thinker/49 feeler as I recall, and I identify somewhat with INFP's as well. But INTP is dead on. My I and P are pretty high, and I think it's the latter that confuses the heck out of most people. It doesn't hurt that I enjoy confusing the heck out of them... :p

*grins* Lets try the test again for the fun of it and see if our result change.

Edit: Hey, mine changed :D

I ntrovert(41%) i N tuitive(72%) T hinking(78%) Judging(78%)

You have moderate preference of Introversion over Extraversion (41%)

You have distinct preference of Intuition over Sensing (72%)

You have strong preference of Thinking over Feeling (78%)

I'm always INTJ.

Anyway here is an article about differences of INTP and INTJ.

A but contradictive though. Agree the most with number 2, disagree eith number 4.

Posted

Ooh.. that's an interesting article. Number four is really funny though. I know someone who looks like the INTJ-man pictured there. He always looks like constipated (his own description) but he's an ISTJ. :D

Sherlock is closer to INTP then. Good, I never believe articles that put him as INTJ. :P
