I'm so jealous....

Posted

When I went in the other day, one of the front-desk gals was wearing a Doctor Who T-shirt.  I love that place!

Oh, and the doctors and techs are really good, too.  And absolutely everybody seems to know what's going on with all the patients.  I phoned up this morning to get an appointment for Amy, and the gal who answered the phone (the one with the DW shirt, as it happens) immediately said, "How are her toes doing?"

There was apparently a really good episode of a show called TFI Friday last week, with (need I say?) Martin Freeman as one of the guests.  It purports to be available here for a few more weeks, but doesn't want to work for me right now.  This is on Channel 4, not the BBC, but there could still be some sort of geographic restriction -- or maybe it's just my computer system being finicky again.

Doesn't work for me either.... :(

Just watched the trailer for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot... really looking forward to this movie.  If you haven't seen it yet, here it is:

Those of you in the UK can see just a bit of Martin Freeman on television tonight (Toast of London, 10 pm, Channel 4).  From Radio Times:

Matt Berry’s loud-mouthed actor does something so terrible – we won’t say what – that the cream of the British acting and directing world line up to condemn him in a spoof Channel 4 News report.

“I think everyone in the country will be appalled,” says Freeman (below, we have cropped the image to avoid spoilers).

Variety reports that Martin Freeman will star in a new ten-part drama series, Start Up, for Sony's internet streaming service Crackle.  He plays Phil Rask, an FBI agent specializing in financial crimes.  Filming starts this week in San Juan, Puerto Rico (which doubles for Miami, where the show is set).

... and just a day later comes the news that Freeman will also star (with Harrison Ford, Natalie Dormer, and Anthony Hopkins) in a Middle-East-War drama (Freeman's second) called Official Secrets.  According to Indie Wire, production is to start in May (presumably right after Start Up wraps).

Hope  not, he's supposed to fit Sherlock in there somewhere! Or are we going to be seeing less of John Watson this time around?

Oops -- good point.  But fortunately he was already committed to Sherlock, so the other productions will just have to work around Hartswood's schedule somehow.  Presumably he'll be done with Start Up by the time Sherlock filming gets underway in April, and presumably his scenes in Official Secrets will be filmed after Series 4 wraps.

I dunno where they got the information from, but someone on Tumblr said filming will for Sherlock will still start in April but will now run until August.  I'm assuming with breaks in there to allow Martin to film?

I wouldn't consider that a very reliable source, to be honest ... and they could be referring to the production schedule, not just the filming schedule. At any rate, based on prior comments from Moftiss, I'm fairly confident the Sherlock fliming will take place as scheduled; I'm sure any subsequent jobs our actors may have picked up would have been planned around that time. They have people for that.

Found the source!  Amanda Abbington says it in this interview starting at 15:13.

Now she should be a reliable source!  I am on dial-up these days -- could someone with high-speed internet service please post a quote from that part of the video?  Thanks!

Guy:  "And so we've got Sherlock, as well."

Amanda:  "Sherlock we start filming in... at the end of March, beginning of April.  Three more episodes.  Which..."

Guy:  "How long does that take to do an episode?"

Amanda:  "So we start at the beginning of the April; we'll finish in... end of July, beginning of August, I think.  They take their time..."

Guy:  "That's nice, that's nice."

Amanda:  "...which is lovely.  Mark's written the first one, and Steven's writing the second one, and then they'll collaborate and write the third one together."

Guy:  "Right, and so you can go home every night for this, can you?"

Amanda:  "Well, I can't.  And I think we'll be filming it in Bristol.  So it's Bristol interiors and then some exteriors, and then we come back to London to do all the, kind of, 221B and stuff like that."

Guy:  "Right, cause the kids have sort of almost been with you, haven't they?  They sort of do come to set?"

Amanda:  "Yes, and where we can they come...  and I mean, they've spoken to Orcs and seen Sherlock throw himself off the building and so they love it.  They love all that, and they've known it since they were babies.   I used to bring Grace and Joe... Joe I used to bring to a sketch show I did called " Man Stroke Woman," and he'd come in his little baby carrier.  And my mum and dad are brilliant.  They're just down the road so they come and help out.  And they've got a couple godmothers who are brilliant, Sue and Daisy... so we're very, very...  you know, I know we're very lucky."

Guy:  "You're very blessed."

Amanda:  "We really are, I know that, and I don't take any of that for granted.  I'm well aware."

That's about four months, which is pretty typical as I recall.  A little over a month per episode.

So no, that doesn't include any time off for the actors to do other projects -- they'll be filming those before and/or after Sherlock.

Apparently Mr. Freeman is not planning to get any sleep over the next few months.  In addition to the recently-announced Start Up and Official Secrets, news has just been released that he'll be one of the stars (in an as-yet-undisclosed role) of the film version of the long-running West End play Ghost Stories, with filming set to start in September.  Here's that news from Empire and also from Den of Geek.

Do you have a Caribou Coffee near you? That is their slogan.

As a movie line states (& I can never remember the movie) there'll be plenty of time to sleep when I'm dead.

Not here, but we had a few in Columbus.  :)   It's how I know the slogan.

That's what I figured.  We live only a few hours' drive from there -- but we have one here in Indiana as well (though it's a lot smaller).

There's a highway sign that amuses me:  It shows which way to turn in order to get to Columbus, Nashville, and Bloomington.  People might assume it meant the cities in Ohio, Tennessee, and Illinois -- but no, we have 'em all right here!

I knew about Bloomington, IN (because of a drum and bugle corp) never ran across the other 2 on a map of Indiana.

Maybe Martin will have a film that will mention some major US city only to have it referring to some small town in another state.
