Which is crazy because Moftiss had made it very clear that they lie blatant and bold-faced lies.

I don't remember seeing this before, although a couple of the quotes from BC sound familiar. From 2014. https://nerdgeist.com/2014/02/11/elementary-a-sherlock-convention-review/

They have never misled anyone about that particular issue, however.  They played with it and joked about it, but even from the start John has always been heterosexual, always looking for a date.  Sherlock also never admitted to being gay or ever made any overtures to John  in that direction.

Johnlock exists ONLY in fanfiction, but for the record, there have been gay characters in Sherlock, not the least of which was Irene Adler.  Then there was Rauol the houseboy in The Great Game and Connie Prince's brother.

The show's producers don't owe it to the pining LGBT community to make Johnlock a reality.  They don't.  That's not the story they are telling, but they also said that certain websites (I assume they were referring to fanfiction sites) were welcome to do what they wanted.

I think too a lot of Johnlockers missed the dialogue in TAB at the Reichenbach Falls after Moriarty said they should just elope.  Queue the Johnlock fans screaming at that point (yes, that's exactly what they did) so that they didn't hear the rest.  John's response? "Impertinent."  Sherlock's response:  "Offensive."  Sherlock found the idea of that kind of relationship with John to be offensive to him.  It was an offensive comment.  Two upstanding Victorian gentlemen friends would indeed find that offensive, but this also all Sherlock's drug-addled vision, and yet still it reflects his psyche.

And yet the Johnlockers persisted, and plainly told NO, and now they've been having a bit of a meltdown and tantrum on Twitter and Tumblr.

The way to face people who can't be reasoned with is by ignoring them.

They did their part, had tried to explain, yet it was misinterpreted again, so why bother, engaging the debate is just giving them more bullet to fire more.

That is how I deal with people who insist of having things their way and their way only. It always works and save me a lot of medical bills on possible hypertension drugs.

And not only them. The sexual orientation of the great majority of characters was not mentioned. Statistically speaking, a certain percentage of them are presumably gay.

Just as in real life, it's erroneous to assume that a character is straight simply because their sexual orientation was not relevant to the story.

And Sherlock's sexual orientation is not relevant to the series, although John's is blatantly obvious.  For Sherlock it wasn't relevant in ACD, and John's was still obvious then.

I do admit, however, that I like Holmes being married in the Laurie R. King books although sometimes, since he's not the main character, I do long for more domesticity between him and Mary Russell.

This was a lovely and well-written Tumblr bit about the recent article.

d^_^b THIS! There's no need for temper tantrum over something that is actually beyond our scope of influence. We can suggest and that's as far as we can go. In reverse psychology it would be, "How would you feel if someone forced you to follow their ideals without care about your personal opinion?"

I like that article too, especially the author's empathy toward the disappointed fans.

I agree that the Moftisses have every right to write the show that they want to see. But on the other hand, if they keep blowing cookie-smells in our direction, they can hardly be surprised if some people expect them to pass out cookies. And if some of those people happen to be really hungry already (even though that's not the Moftisses' fault), they may understandably be kinda quick-tempered.

Don't you think, though, is what they're trying to get across is that those aren't cookie smells you're smelling? That it's really just a whoopee cushion you're smelling?

I don't know that I completely buy their argument, but I sort of think that's what it is; it's not their fault if you starve, cuz they ain't baking. Which seems reasonable on one hand, but it's easy to understand why that's no comfort to their fans. On the other hand, I don't think it's meant to be.

Agghh. It's at times like these that's it's torture to be a P. I need me some sunshine.

I feel your pain! I've spent all morning seeing things both ways, and I'm starting to get dizzy. Think I'll go have a nice little friendly argument with myself.

The Sherlock theme on the ukulele. (Michael Price recommended this on Twitter).
