....Oddly enough, even though I'm American, I tend to spell gray as grey. I have no idea why. It just looks better somehow, so that's what I do. lol. Otherwise I'm a favorite, theater, color kinda girl.

That's so funny, I'm exactly the same way! I nearly always use "grey" and have as long as I can remember; I just think it's "prettier"! I think that's the only word I deliberately "misspell", though.

Schlauer Fuchs, thanks for those comments. I had no idea! When I was in my teens my friends and I all thought the epitome of cool were the British, I'm kind of sorry to hear that may have changed. And sort of proud, too, in an embarrassed sort of way. We Americans do have some cool movies, don't we? But I still think the British are all over us in the music department, and the Japanese rule supreme when it comes to comics! And Mexico has the best cuisine. Or maybe that's Thailand? Italy? Hmm.

Nope, Ethiopia. Definitely Ethiopia.

I tend to do the american spelling of words.  My sister loves the UK so much that I have to ask her where certain keys are on her keyboard & certain words she always pronounces the British way.  The Thank You's my favorite musician writes are either written by his wife or the fact that she learned British English has rubbed off on him as I see the British spelling on many words that spelled differently.

Oh and I go for Mexican and Indian, the spicier the better.

I handle emails for an organization, and in one fellow's original inquiry, although he used no British spellings, he did say, "That would be grand."  I asked him whether he was British or an Agatha Christie fan.  Turns out he's English, married to an (American) Agatha Christie fan!

Just rewatched SiB and I may have to rethink my series 2 fav after watching Reichenbach.  SiB is a truly beautiful episode.  The whole Irene/Sherlock thing also causes me a great amount of confusion/mental conflict.

Welcome to my world! I love looking at it but I don't know what to make of it.

Rewatchung SiB right now and noticed Benedict's eye. (Somewhere on here we were discussing his eyes in regards to Sherlock.) what I noticed in this watching that during the Speckled Blond that we get an interesting look at a magnified view of his right eye through his magnifier. Definitely had a "you see but you do not observe" moment there.

So glad I'm not the only one who doesn't entirely know what to make of it. :) :)

OK, I just realized that Cluedo = Clue.  I was like why is a Clue board game on the wall?  Oh wait, that's probably Cluedo that they mention.  But it looks an awful lot like Clue... are they the same game?  Or similar games? *off to Google*  Huh, Cluedo is Clue.

I know, doesn't Cluedo sound much cooler than Clue?  And then, if you're like me, once you realize that it's just Clue and once again they're playing a kids' game, it's funny.

It really does.  What if I just start calling Clue Cluedo?  Pretentious much?  :)

This episode is swiftly approaching all time favorite status for me.  And this quote never fails to give me the feels every time:

SHERLOCK: Look at them. They all care so much. Do you ever wonder if there’s something wrong with us?

MYCROFT: All lives end. All hearts are broken. Caring is not an advantage, Sherlock.

I will if you will.  As it stands, I've picked up so much random British idiom from British TV that, when I'm tired enough, I sound like someone dropped Indiana in the middle of England.

Yes, I totally agree about that quote.  Watched SiB this weekend while I was crocheting, and there was something about the way Cumberbatch and Gatiss delivered those lines.  There was almost a longing in both of them, like they both wanted to feel even that level of pain if only to give themselves permission to feel that deeply, before it snapped back to their usual MO.  Beautiful scene.

Now I need to re-watch the episode again for that part. Might need to do a 3 hour watching party to watch TGG first then this one (prefer my cliffhanger episode back to back with the 1st episode of the next series).

Just noticed that Sherlock and John have their Christmas stockings up in the kitchen window.  LOL

Well, you have to look quick, but when that bedsheet gets as low as it's going to get in the front, you can see that Benedict has an appendectomy scar.

Now I'm going to want to check that out because I never noticed.

I remember having to figure out how to make my then 3 yo son understand why mommy couldn't pick him up after my appendix was removed almost 9'years ago. Thankfully those scars are a little higher up below the waist & my son understood "owies".

I'll bet he was impressed, too. For a couple minutes, at least. :D

He's high functioning autistic, undiagnosed at the time. I'm not sure he even would have understood the concept of being impressed by it.  Now, if he had been Sherlock (or Archie), then yes he would have been.

Aw, I'm sorry. That can be really tough on the family. How's he doing with it?

Posted

He comes across as ADHD with some sensory integration issues and a few learning disabilities. The social skills issues become noticeable after watching him for awhile. He's taught me a lot over these 12.5 yrs that I would not have learned had he been "normal".

just re-watched that part of the episode.  I noticed the shadow that is the scar before and didn't even click that it was a scar.  I figured it was a natural shadow from muscle tone or something of the sort.

Google brought up what appears to be a confirmation from Mr. C. himself:

Asked about childhood movie theater experiences, he mentioned: (1) once one of the friends he was with disappeared from the theater and freaked out BC’s parents; and (2) another time his stomach started hurting all of a sudden in a theater which turned out to be appendicitis.
