I'll go and have a look at War Horse then. I'm a big horse lover myself and I enjoy Benedict Cumberbatch's acting but I haven't even seen it yet :O

Good movie Benedict & Tom have minor roles.

I just had this thought (forget if we discussed this already & nothing against anyone for Hiddleston being the other brother). Molly's Tom is discovered to be the other brother and a whole fiasco of things to cover up why he's not part of the Holmes family including a name change from Sherinford to Tom.

yes, but before Mycroft says, "the other one," he says, "you know what happened to.."

So there was some sort of happening, an event... and it's something for which Mycroft feels no regret, sympathy or empathy.

While it makes my idea more far fetched, it doesn't completely toss it out. Mycroft is not known for familial sentiment so there is still a slight chance that the other one is still alive and could have been for whatever reason removed from the family.

"Removed" is by far the kindest word for "dead", isn't it?

Unfortunately with the way I wrote my statement, he would not be dead in this case. At least not yet.

I think we're supposed to believe that "the other one" is dead or exiled or incarcerated or something equally final and disastrous.  But of course that mean's s/he is bound to show up one way or another!  (Besides, Mycroft would probably refer to disinheritment in those very tones.)

I would agree; however, with Moftiss anything is possible/plausible (except for maybe the Time Lord showing up, not just referenced in a picture on a wall and the likes we've seen so far).

There's a picture of him on the wall?

Not him directly, just his Tardis in TEH

I promise to deal with "monsieur other one" in my own way.

Is that a threat? :D

You'll just have to wait and see.

Considering the fandom we're referring to, I should be used to that by now......

If I had ever seen Tom Hiddleston in anything, I would say "Oh, please, NO!" for fear I would find the familiar face distracting. But I can't recall that I've ever seen him except in a few photos, so feel free to wish all you like!

Me neither - I keep seeing that name EVERYWHERE but I have no idea who he is!

Have a look at this, then - this is Tom Hiddleston as Loki, not in one of the films, but at ComicCon, showcasing the new trailer:

eta: And here's a Jaguar ad. Just ignore the car ;).

The idea of Loki's fundamental madness would tie in very well with "what happened to the other one" , because he could be lying in a coma or a facility for the incurably insane, and the idea of Sherlockedcamper is a little stroke of brilliance, concerning his facial structure, high cheekbones and dark hair. He wreaked havoc through two Thor films, he could be even more insane than Moriarity, but it seems Sherlock is a strictly British affair. Although I would be thrilled to watch him play a deranged third brother, genius gone bad, it is in the realm of wishful thinkin. Still, one can dream!

Oh, Carol! You've gotta check out Thor at least just to see Loki. I think this us another case of I may love the character more than the actor, much like Sherlock and BC. Loki is this really intriguing "villain." I say villain in quotes because there are just so many layers to him and reasons behind his motivations. I'm not a big superhero person in general, but I totally watch Marvel for Loki.
